I would have fastened the box to the bottom side of the truss rather than directly underneath of the sheathing. There's less chance of a nail penetrating it when the shingles are replaced in the future
Hi my light doesn't work i tried turning it back on and off but still doesn't work. I checked the switch in the garage and flip it on and then off everything works my bathroom but not the light in the attic
I recently created a couple videos showing the installation of a wall light and adding another light switch. You may find those helpful for your project. just go to my videos section and you will find them as recent uploads.
Is there any problem with not having the switch in place and just having constant power going to the light? I know that's not what you wanted but wanted to make sure this wouldn't be a problem even though the pull switch on the actual light would be off only until needed
I wish I had a junction box in my attic crawl space. I want to run a wire from the basement to the attic but it sounds like too much of a pain in the butt.
Awesome man thank you for sharing 😀...
No problem 👍
Good video.
Thanks!

Thanks for the tip when installing a light box in the attic.
yup. I think building code calls for 1.5" min distance from decking to any wiring.

I would think it would be ok but it might be wise to check with regional building/electrical codes as sometimes there are some quirky rules
Wouldn't a 4 ft led fixture put out more light?
A larger attic light installed in the attic would likely be brighter. The installation process would be similar.
@@MrKistel but it's ok to do too, right?
If you are using LEDs, you could also install a smart bulb. Then you could shut off the light after you forgot and put the ladder away !
Great attic light installation tip. It is amazing what control features are available with smart bulbs.
Don't waste money on that junk.
I wouldn't have mounted the box so close the roof as nails can easily puncture it and the wires.
Great tip, yes if the roof is ever replaced that could be a potential issue.

Can you pull off a circuit from a room below the attic?

Next video how to fix an attic light won't turn off
O no, let us know if you are able to figure out your attic light problem.
Nah nothing wrong I do it for somebody that can't turn their attic light off
