- A quick look at the pre-painted, Dungeons and Dragons miniature, the Ancient Red Dragon Balagos, from WizKids. This review includes the packaging, assembly, sculpt, paint application of this miniature and several side-by-side comparisons with other similar miniatures.
That's a very fair assessment. I just looked up the price and if I have to pay $350, I better have a detailed paint job and the extras like a breath weapon. I'd even add in that they need a more detailed base like per bed on a mountain top and also a flying clear base. As a 3d printer owner, I can buy an even more detailed sculpture and paint it myself for a tenth of the cost and have a better product. So between price and features, they need improvement to earn my money.
More of a "quick-ish" review. There was a lot I wanted to review on this mini, and I found it challenging to keep the video short. The suggested retail price for this mini is $329.99.
She's a beauty.
For some reason when looking at the comparison with Tiamat, it's like they are an evil Couple, Dragon King and Queen of chaos and destruction.
I really wanna see how this compares to the Klauth statue (the dragon part), the new red dragon from the Dragonlance minis, and the Adult Red Dragon
I was looking today for an ancient red dragon and was surprised to really only find the unpainted Pathfinder and this. Such a huge price gap. Seeing the adult dragon with Klauth though I almost bought that, but again needed an ancient/gargantuan. Apparently Niv-Mizzet is gargantuan but it's another expensive one for a small dragon at that supposed scale.
so glad I got my full dragon set from the old line, these new dragons are not at a good price point
what's wild is it is cheaper and better too just shop around for a Old Coll Red. He's bigger and often cheaper if you find one out the box and no flame which this dragon also doesn't have. The fact he's not really that much bigger then the white they released is disappointing like quad the price but not even 50% bigger.
The Colossal Red Dragon is soooo much better than Balagos. Balagos is just 12 inches of wings and a tiny body. The old school dragon has nearly twice the body mass of Balagos. For $300, Balagos is a rip off.
Massively overpriced for what we get. It's big, but the paints jobs aren't so amazing, and there's little to justify the HUGE price tag. Even if it is a cool looking set-piece. I think if they do a breath weapon, it should be a transparent 2d cone that can be used at the table. Thanks for the review.
Nice
Unfortunately out of my price range
I HATE HOLES IN WINGS!!!!
