Fasting works! Loosing weight is an add on. The amount of energy I have throughout the day has doubled. It’s incredible. 8 hour eating window, 16 hour no eating. It’s not hard. People are just scared by the worked “Fasting.” I didn’t think I was over weight and in 1 year dropped 25 pounds, look and feel amazing! And the energy levels during the day are amazeeeee. 8 hour eating window, sleep 7.5 to 8 hours. Drink 100 ounces of water and cut out excess sugar. DONE!

I am so happy I found Dr Jamnadas! I have been a carnivore for about 8 months and have been struggling. He reminds me why I need to fast more often and get my insulin levels down. I made my PC give me a fasting insulin test and I was on the high side. I hope that I can get that down so I don't end up a diabetic with coronary heart disease like the majority of my family. My A1C went from 6.7 to 5.7! I lost some weight, but have been on a plateau for about a month.

Late to the party (1yr!). After I went to a 2 meal 16+hr regime it begin to fell like I could move out the time of the 1st meal which has got me to thinking about going to one meal a day.
Thank you very much Dr. Jamnadas for giving me medical insight into why I should go to one meal a day. You also triggered a lightbulb moment.
Now for the lightbulb. Though not a historian, I continue a lifetime interest in history. Early humans were hunters and sometime gatherers. While gathering can be predictable in certain places and times, hunting often was not. Feast and famine was the normal human cycle for Millennia! Early humans instinctively sought nutrient dense food sources - animals, whenever they could and fasted, not by choice, but because they had to..
As humans in the modern age I suppose following a regular cycle (such eat once a day, fast every 6th & 7th day, etc.) likely will work as well as the irregular and unpredictable feast/fast cycle of early humans.

Such valuable advice, "We were not designed" to continuously feed or take food in. We have to have those cycles of rest, so that we can recuperate, repair and heal. The connection between the hardening of the arteries, and the constant insulin release is such an important discovery. It's amazing how much of gift, fasting can be, not even considering how cost effective it is (it's free). Wow. Thank you for these important tips that every one of us can use, and for the necessary work you are both doing.

Exactly, there are levels to this game, at least if you want to do things easier/optimally. Nobody should be doing extended/prolonged fasting (outside of 16:8 eating windows) until they've switched over to a low carb (preferably whole foods dominant) diet and controlled eating windows. And of course after they understand that they have to increase water intake a little and make sure they are adding a pinch of salt to a couple of glasses of water throughout the fasting day (add some baking soda too if you want). Remember that 2-3 cups of black coffee and/or green tea (no sugar/sweeteners/milk/cream etc.) can also be consumed during an extended fast and if you're caffeine sensitive don't drink any coffee/tea during the evening so you don't impact the quality and duration of sleep.

**Exceptions pregnancy & children** Funny.. babies ALWAYS tell us when they're hungry 🍼
Controlled eatn times/windows can still work... & eatn only when hungry.. rather than feedn a sugar craving. The perfection of fastn is 'when food is out of the way... the body can heal & recover'.
Keep 'meal windows' as sm as possible.. start out slow by isolating meal windows... easiest is to combine w/ sleep-times... from moment u put dwn fork the night b4 begins fasting... keep pushn bk ur break-fast... later & later... then plan the end of ur eatn window... go easy on urself... U will find ur groove! Quality foods really helps!! Try to break ur fast w/ a very high-quality fat.. like avocado or MCT oil.. (ur body runs more efficiently off fat .. rather than sugar.. this is y keto works so well)... Keep seeking knowledge & c what works 4u!! Many Blessings 2U

There are levels to this game (extended fasting), at least if you want to do things easier/optimally. Nobody should be doing extended/prolonged fasting (outside of 16:8 eating windows) until they've switched over to a low carb (preferably whole foods dominant) diet and controlled eating windows. They should be on such a protocol for ideally 2-3 weeks, giving ample time for your body to adjust. People need to understand that they have to increase water intake (up to 20% of your daily water intake is from the foods we eat) a little and make sure they are adding a pinch of salt to a couple of glasses of water throughout the fasting day (add some baking soda too if you want) to keep their electrolytes in a healthy range. Remember that 2-3 cups of black coffee and/or green tea a day (no sugar/sweeteners/milk/cream...nothing added to keep calories at zero etc.) can also be consumed during an extended fast and if you're caffeine sensitive don't drink any coffee/tea during the evening so you don't impact the quality and duration of sleep.

All absolutely true--I've done it, according to Dr. Pradip. And I did get the results that he talks about right down to taking my blood pressure medication to half the doses. The problem is sustainability... you get off it because of all the bad stuff friends bring you (like apple fritters, chocolate cakes, etc.), and the cravings start coming back again, and the blood pressure eventually gets back up. So I'm back re-watching Dr. Pradip's videos and gearing up to get back on track. But it really does work as he says and it really feels good when you're doing it right! Sustainability... that's the secret, once you do it right! Fasting does work and is built into the human existence. Vive le fasting and feasting! :-)

@@chriscruciat2469How much can you eat in one meal? Certainly a whole lot less than in three! And more time for digestion, absorption and for insulin level to lower. Which can greatly enhance weight loss. I have lost more weight on OMAD than on a 3-day fast. I've only done 3 days once before but am doing my second one now, 2 months later. I'll see if/how much I lose now.

@chriscruciat2469 That one is easy. Maintenance calories are about 10 kcal for each pound you want to keep. So if you want to be 180lbs let's say, you eat 1800 calories. You probably want a little more than half a gram of protein per pound. So try for 90grams of protein.

It's natural for blood pressure to go up early morning to about noon and go down towards the afternoon and evening blood pressure tends to follow circadian rhythm. Circadian rhythm also drives your insulin up in the early morning hours of the day. It gets you ready to start your day and prevents you from passing out when you wake up. It allows you to go to sleep at the end of the day.

In the body when we fast: after we eat, insulin comes in and puts into storage so we build up sone fat. We utilize calories, start burning the sugar, so after 4 or 5 hours, glycogen stores in the liver, and muscles start breaking down to give you the calories that you need to burn to run to day to day activities and when you run out of that by 18 to 20 hours, the body says “hmm I need to start burning that fat now.”

Fasting is part of several faiths and spiritual practices. These others just require their practitioners not to make public their fasting. They may fast at any time of the year, the duration is self-determined and their fasts may be for full days, not one meal a day. For one thing, fasting can help to tame fleshly impulses (ability to say no to pleasure and pressure), putting your higher self more in control. It also helps one develop the habit of moderation so that you master life rather than life mastering you. Many non-Muslims fast regularly and voluntarily. They just don't make it known.

I would like to ask into the round, if anyone is in a similar situation like me and has tried IF?
I am currently 30, female, 53kg, do 3-4 sports / week( run or gym), and would say that my diet is relatively healthy (lots greens/fibers, no processed foods, no snacking). However, I do like to snack my apple / carrots / nuts in between meals and do not really let my insulin rest I believe…
I have been dealing with hypertension for around 2 years now (since its been diagnosed) and have 130/90 readings. With all the mentioned above I can’t bring it down. Not taking any medicine so far.
So with hearing the patients that Dr. Pradip is mentioning are mostly a bit overweight, would IF also address skinnier people?
Thank you for any answers and help here!

    • @NightwishArena
      @NightwishArena 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

They never answer any of these questions here in the comments, which is a bummer. But what I have gathered from various sources, you should get benefits like staying "younger" (whole body and mind), better skin, better life in general...at least it should prevent things like diabetes, dementia or heart diseases (or even many autoimmune diseases) to happen. I wish I would have started trying IF when I was about 30, but I tried to built muscles. Of course there is a way to do both, but it hinders your muscle gains. But in my case it would have been way better plan. I have been so sick all the time (injuries after injuries, constant pain everywhere, and they even diagnosed fibromyalgia), that I basically just let it go. Now 17 years later I really regret that I didn't give IF a chance. I'm sure I would be 10000% better shape now.

If you are a thin person fasting can become challenging because you don't want to lose any more weight which is likely to happen when we fast, hypertension can be hereditary so it takes more work to avoid it if it's genetic.....I think you should re-evaluate your diet, consume some carbs and a good amount of protein and healthy fat to put some bulk on before you try to fast, also, fruits have alot of sugar, bananas, apples, pears etc, so maybe watch the snacking.....After trying to avoid B/P meds for years I finally gave in until I get it under control....🤞🏽
