For all who saw Carissa take out that bottle baby, it had died and she was taking it out. I didn’t even notice when I was editing, we actually lost one that day, and another the next day. And both were last minute saves from mamas that weren’t feeding them. They just never got strong enough to get on machine.

Hey Sandi I just wanted to share my 13yr old daughter's perspective on Star Gazer, yes she gave the deformed lamb a name. Annie has scoliosis n will need a full spinal fusion soon. She's also a animal lover and thinks most can be saved(most is the key word). So first she made some jokes about it just wanted to look at the Xmas lights but then she got serious. Annie compared how you can't tell she has a 50 degrees S curve in her spine but she's frequently in pain, she can express when it hurts, n even if Star Gazer lived it had to be in pain. My optimistic(very smart) kiddo went on about how the ewe rejected n so many ppl have good intentions but would it be a good life? Annie said she hopes you would do the kindest thing for the lamb n you did.

I knew when she posted about the little excited soul, that it was not going to have a happy ending. I am so sorry Sandi, alot of us know you would go to great lenghts to save any of your sheep! She needed more then you or most anyone could give her and she still might have made it. I totally agree with Mark! You know what you need to do for your sheep. And even more so, it is ultimately you that has to live with your choices! So please keep living true to you! I saw a post yesterday that said...that everything may have several ways to accomplish it, but only my way is the right way (for me).....well in this case for you.

Sandi. Thank you for being transparent with us and showing us the ugly side of farming and for giving that lamb a warm send off. To those that might disagree with your choice I want them to know that there are farmers that would have thrown him in the trash heap and let it suffer for hours and never give it a second thought. Hi Sandy. Coming to you from the lambing barn in southern Alberta. I’m currently waiting on a ewe to lamb. I spent the last two days with a premature lamb in the warm box tubing and feeding it with the small hope it might survive knowing full well it wasn’t going to make it. We do this job because we love the life and truly care for our animals. Don’t ever listen to the haters. This is also a business and sometimes we have to make the hard decisions. I give you major respect for putting yourself out there for the world to see. Keep doing what you do! Cheers.

Couldn’t have said this better myself. I get upset about animals in factory farms that are not cared for individually or valued for what they give us. Absolutely. The same people who think Sandi should be able to care for this (most likely) Cache Valley lamb are the same ones who insist a woman should not have autonomy over her own reproductive health. They insist an ectopic pregnancy must reach it's natural conclusion without intervention. Or a Zika fetus must be kept because it has a heart beat. In reality a successful chance at life requires much more than just ensuring it reaches full term and gasps a few breaths. This lamb faced zero chance at any quality of life. Sandi would have to hand raise it, nurse it and deal with all the health challenges of an animal that cannot even feed or stand to relieve itself.

It was clear from this video that the lamb had deteriorated as evidenced by its inability/refusal to eat. Being that most very deformed animals they usually are FTT ~ Failure To Thrive. It was the best and act of kindness to relieve its suffering before things get harder and worse for lambs. I had a vet once crying when we had a very sick cat put down that we rescued, and I said "it is a shame people can't receive the same ending." I worked as nurse and have done my share of palliative care. I am glad people are starting to be able to have the choice. Having to live your last days unable to breathe because the pain medication does you in at the end. Rest assured you did the "last act of kindness." God love you and your family. ;-)

The little lamb was so determined to live trying to suck right out of. The womb. It was so kind to warm it up and feed her and give her a chance. But then that hard decision comes and though it’s painful you need to do what’s the biggest kindness to them. I used to foster multiple newborn kittens for the shelter who were abandoned. Some were very sick to begin with. Sometimes the extra care they got would be successful. But there always are those who just are too sick or deformed to live any kind of life. Always painful but was thankful they didn’t linger.😊😊

Take comfort in your action for the deformed lamb. It made the decision for itself when it refused to eat. It had sucked the bottle the night of its birth, so refusing the next morning was its way of telling you it was letting go. You simply saved it further misery of a slow death. Absolutely. You always will have people who are so miserable that they just can’t help themselves from being negative. It takes great empathy and love to be able to stop the suffering of an animal.
And then there are those who like to think their way is the only way. Just know that this isn’t your first rodeo and your gut will always guide you. Just started watching you but can tell you’re very knowledgeable and are doing all you can in doing and researching and communicating with experts. Every situation is different and everyone has a little different way of doing things. You have to do what works for you. Other farm creators have the same problem of negative people. Just try not to let that negativity bother you. It’s really hard when you’re doing things that work and then nasty people have to comment. A lot of people who watch do not have a clue as to what all this takes. It’s a lot more than a full time job.❤❤❤

Your value in this world is huge without YT or other o line vehicles.
However, I’m glad you are here. I just found your channel and it is a life savor for me. See, I am going through a life crisis of my own with an aging parent and dementia and an adult child in a life threatening situation and your channel (and others) keeps out the negativity of politics, TV/internet drama, etc.
People that tell you what to do with your husbandry need to stay in their lane. They need to learn boundaries. People like that only want to sabotage your psyche. They are energy vampires. They are NOT the man in the arena having to fight the fight. They sit on their bums and bleed their toxic vitriol into others and then feed on it. Mark is right. YOU know this. You are, as always, an inspiration in your resilience and perseverance. Keep going!

Everytime I see a new vlogmas video I get into the Christmas spirit! 🎄 I love seeing all of the babies!!! Sadly the deformed lamb couldn't recover, but it's part of nature..

That is why this action is called " the last act of kindness". What else could you do for this lamb ? Anything else would have been cruel. I've watched you care for your sheep for a long time now. You have always been kind, considerate, and very tender towards all your animals. This situation has been no different.

I am so sorry Sandi. I’m crying, but thankful that you were able to make the loving, caring decision to not let the little one suffer. I am praying for you and Charissa that God will give you comfort. Thank you for sharing it all, good, bad, difficult. Oh NO THE roof!

Sometimes things just happen. It doesn't always have a reason. You did what you could to make that little one comfortable and give it a chance to see if anything worked itself out. Sometimes there's not a reason for stillborn, it just nature and happens sometimes. You always go above and beyond to save any lamb or the rest of the sheep who require a little extra care. Much respect Sandi! 🥰

Respect to Sandi for knowing and understanding the plight of that lamb and doing what is best. Sometimes they just don't thrive, sure they might be alive. But thriving is different and I don't see how a crook-necked Lambie that could walk thrive. It was the kindest thing Sandi could do. She let it feel warmth, love and a full belly, then let them go. Love you Sandi, keep on trucking.
