Thanks Phil/Tony : Your Timing is Perfect, 3 days preparing my sons Mineral White M4, its now time to start applying the grapene coating, everything prep'd & plenty caffeine & ready to go & apply the tips, have a good one guys.
I have a White Audi A4 which I ceramic coated and it looks great. I get many compliments even though it's 12 years old. Never coated any car before even at 70 you can learn. Thanks Phil love your videos..
The past 2 weekends, I ceramic coated both my wife’s SUV, and my truck. I spent 13 hrs on each vehicle. Both vehicles are white, and quite the challenge regarding both the application and seeing the flashing. I am very happy with the results though. This is the only video involving a white vehicle and I’ve watched probably 40 videos on TH-cam before I tried it myself. Though I found this video after doing my white vehicles, I appreciate you taking the time and making this one.
Agree especially on the use of lights as my wife’s car is white and did coat it. Still had a few high spots but only see them in low angle lights. Great tips to you all
Excellent work as always! White is a little tricky. I did a full exterior on My Mom's Pearl '20 Subaru. CSL went on beautifully right after a de-con and Perfect Finish. I moved My head a lot and used a ton of towels. It looks mint!! You've got to love a clean/protected vehicle!! I tend to take the vehicle for a ride on the parkway to help rid the water from seeping during buffing or coating. Works like a charm. Wipe it down with eraser after the ride, tape up the trim and have at it!
Awesome stuff Phil! I’ve been using the same type of towel from Walmart, also yellow but they have no tags! I was tired of ripping all those huge Kirkland tags off 😂
Good video and tips but the tips apply to coating on any colour vehicle. This is the only video of its kind on YT, so was super keen to see more emphasis on how to identify a high spot on a white vehicle using the handheld light. And then maybe demonstrating application of coating to two adjacent sections and how to focus in on overlap and any residual/missed coating. Like I said though, great idea for a video and was super keen to watch it.
Hi. Thanks. When it comes to coating on any color paint the same principles apply. Just being diligent about making sure all the coating is leveled off and wiped is important. Obviously I wouldn’t demo a high spot on a customer car which this was. However maybe this would help th-cam.com/video/SajbAvVTb_8/w-d-xo.html
@@MirandaDetailing thanks for taking the time to respond! Totally fair. Do you have advice on colour selection (2500-6500k) for a handheld light for white vehicle coating application to check coating and removal? I’m embarking on doing my Toyota Hilux and wife’s Toyota SUV.
Great tips Phil, awesome video mate👍 Love the Kirkland tip, haven't used those before because of different opinions. We have them available here at Costco so will pick up a pack and see how they go😁 Thanks for the video mate, cheers Stuart
Hello Phil.. I have a vehicle that is a Volkswagen that is basically the same color as this Audi and I've been having a hard time finding the proper pad and polishing/compounding combo that works without having to spend tons of money trying a bunch of different things the foam pads are very difficult to take out any imperfections in this German paint in these Volkswagens and Audis so I'm assuming right off the bat to use microfiber cutting and polishing pads but which compound materials did you use or would recommend and which microfiber pads would you recommend and is it possible to do this with an all-in-one or is it a two-step process with a compound and a Polish thank you for your time 👍
Hi. So we found these pads work really well to cut and finish. bit.ly/3FDkCpT They work really well with compounds, polishes and All iN ones. For hard paint, it can be a challenge. sometimes our paint enhancements turn into basically 2 steps.
Phil, thanks for the video, have a question, when doing maintenance washes on a ceramic coat, what drying aid, if any should be used. I am wondering because, if I use a drying aid, will it affect the maintenance or topper that I will subsequently put on top?
Hi. Great questions! So we don’t really use a separate drying aid. Coatings companies have their maintenance toppers designed to work like drying aids. They are meant to be applied on a wet surface and help dry while leaving the protection behind. So in essence it itself is a topper/drying aid in one.
@@MirandaDetailing Thanks for the reply, that’s what I figured. For products like Gyeon Cure/Elixir, would it be better in your experience to dilute? To prevent streaking? Also, does spraying it on while car is wet negate its abilities at all, in terms of durability?
You’re welcome. Those products play well with water so it won’t really mess with the durability. You can apply a light application after it’s dry also if you want. You don’t have to dilute because the water on the vehicle will dilute it.
Phil, hats off to you and Tony. Also, tell Tony his shop looks excellent; he did a great job. Question, what coating were you applying? Happy Thanksgiving to you and your wife, and enjoy the time with your family and friends.
Awesome video and tutorial good friend. Came out amazing as always. What coating did u use?should u wash Kirkland towels b4 using them on coating pkg.b well good friend
I have found that Gtechniq CSL is one of the easiest to see on white and light colors. It does this separation thing that is very noticeable to see under lights.
Hello Phil, when it flashes rainbow, I wipe it off. It feels like I’m wiping off the whole coating, even though I’m doing it lightly… I wonder if I’m doing it correctly? I notice you still had rainbow even after leveling it off, is this normal because they’re on a microscopic level? I’m assuming no rainbow after leveling and the car should look like how it looked before applying the graphene coating, and just assume that the graphene is on there on a microscopic level?
Hi so the part that you saw that showed it rainbowing after we leveled it off was just a before and after shot. It was showing the rain owing before and then it was clear after. I should have put text on there to show that. I was demonstrating what the light was doing. After leveling off the coating you won’t see anything on the paint. Not all coating do that rainbow effect also, some are like this th-cam.com/video/FuxGC0jU0Nw/w-d-xo.html

Great information. White is amazing and a pain in the butt. While the gloss can be amazing it is never going to be fantastic like other colors.

Hey Phil. What’s a good soap to use for maintenance for ceramic coated vehicles ?
Hi. What coating did you use? Usually the coating company will have their own soaps to use.
Hi Phill. Thank you for sharing. What is that pressure washer gun that you are using? Thanks again.
Hi. Thanks! It’s this one th-cam.com/video/U1OvyzhasX4/w-d-xo.html
Hi Phil
Did you wash your kirkland towels before coating?
Thank you
Hi. it depends on the towels, sometimes they come in a little flatten, so we wash them and they fluff up better
would the flash light from our cellphones work as a light source or does it need to be a diffused light source?
Hi. I found the flash light on the phones are too weak. You need a larger light source. Hand held detailing lights are the best to see properly.
Dude I gotta pick up one of those light sabres you had at the end. I can use it to detail or I can use it if Vader ever decides to come after me.
May the detailing force be with you!
