One thing I really appreciate about jazz emu is that he makes a whole bunch of really good songs instead of making one good song and pushing it for months like a lot of those tiktok artists. Nothing against the tiktok artists but it can get annoying hearing the same song over and over again.
@@StatusMusicDesignhave you been online for an extended period when some new song comes out? Imagine those repetitive commercials but worse because people are using it intentionally to get attention. Nobody is trying to listen to it haha
Fun fact, there are two main theories about the origin of money: Money of exchange and money of account. Money of exchange is what our dear Emus Jazz refers to at the beginning of the song, facilitating trade when a specific item-for-item barter is not available. Money of account is to track debts. Say that a trade has to take place over time, like giving a farmer seed in exchange for future crops. A record of transactions forms a system of money that isn't traded directly.
But, in fact, both are made up by economists. Anthropologists and Archaeologists disagree, and form the more logical conclusion that before there was money there was a system of friendly loans, then traders started trading precious metals for everything for long trade routes, and eventually money was forced upon the population by lords for tax purposes. The only reason the economists made up the one you commented is because they only saw the last steps of the process. Before that money was basically only used for long voyages, and even up until a few centuries ago friendly loans were the most common form of small-scale economic transactions.
@@Mereologist Goats do not have a constant value nor a fluctuating value. They have a transaction-based value. For every possible buyer the goat has a different value, and in most transactions you would not be buying the goat, you would be sharing the goat.
My favorite thing about money is how everyone definitely understands it and how much sense it has made forever. It's furthering abstraction into systems beyond the comprehension of regular people is delightful and very practical and NOT to worry about.
I'm also sure that if we keep systems like money simple and pragmatic for the everyman we'll surely be able to run something as multifaceted as a society sustainably. It's a very simple social construct after all.
