To elaborate, yes, you can technically earn Atoms in-game, but it's a slog of a grind for the average person, and any time players are forced to choose between insufferable grind and paying, it's as good as strong arming players into paying, it's as good as a paywall.

It’s funny how this game is more monetized than WarThunder and WarThunder is a free game. Can we just take a second and approach the real problem here: People are actually buying this stuff (i.e. the redditor that suggested fridges for atoms in the first place). It's rather simple really. If people didnt buy microtransactions, devs wouldnt offer them anymore. If Fallout 76 wouldnt pay for Bethesda, they wouldnt keep the game alive. Money controls everything, Bethesda does not care that people complain. EA does not care that people complain. Not as long as the bottom line for them is that it still pays.
Erik Vucicevic so what you are saying is that it will never stop 😂 because people will never stop being stupid, never. Microtransactions will just get worse as more people get used to them, the floodgates are open and it won't get fixed. It's a shame but I guess the good times weren't going to last forever. It simply is not possible to stop these people from buying microtransactions and destroying the industry, they will never listen.

Why Nick? This is just the Fallout equivalent of ESO. Not to mention BGS had little to do with 76's development, and nothing 5o do with it post launch. That's why they have other studios, because they're busy developing 2 AAA titles atm.
Greeeeeeeaaaaaat. Patch 13. Like that number won’t bring anymore bad luck.

Daaaamn, should have released the patch tomorrow, it'll be Friday the 13th, that'd be so fitting...
It's not a patch. It's a surprise mechanic
Then again, maybe Bethesda’s incompetence might create a glitch that turns 13 into the lucky number, just like how they turned Y2K into an event that stops nukes from going off.
@StilasCzech thats when it crashes give it time place your bets lol.
Everyone who still playing this game hoping Bethesda will change their ways please stop. You're only giving this company more money and time you could spend else where. Millions of other games

@@outdateduser7036 I blame F2P games for this, though. Sure, it's a good business model for mobile, and it CAN be fair to consumers, but all it does is desensitize consumers to the concept of paying continually after the "purchase" of a game (the purchase is free for F2P, of course, but you often don't think about the purchase price after you own it, so it translates readily to actual paid games). People very easily pay more, over the life of the game, for F2P titles than AAA games with no microtransactions. If we hadn't been introduce to the F2P model and plethora of post-install purchases, I doubt microtransactions would've expanded like they have. Personally, I prefer even subscription services over F2P.

I'm not terrified so much as resigned to not playing it. But it hurts.
Everyone is. Better to start accepting our loss now already.
I'm calling the following features for TES 6:
- Ore and potion ingredients will be free. The equipment to harvest them (Pickaxe and "for the first time ever" gardening gloves and sheers) will be in the "Tamriel Store".
- For realism, activities like mining ores, harvesting ingredients, and fighting will now consume stamina. The Tamriel Store will have potions and items that can aid in regaining stamina.
- Want to travel between cities quickly? The Tamriel Store has you covered with a wide selection of riding mounts for quick travel.
- The Tamriel Store won't just take any old coin found on the street. Only the "Imperial Crown" will be good enough. Lucky for you, this can be bought using cash so you don't have to spend time grinding.
- Oh, not interested in grinding for your in-game quest items? Why not give Surprise Chests from the Tamriel Store a go? See what quest items you can get from one of our chests. We'll even throw the first one in for free.
Yeah, I'll buy Cyberpunk 2020 on day one, but I'm going to wait six months after release before I even think of touching TES6. I don't want Bethesda "repeatedly touching" (more like fondling) me.

it wasn't like that back in the days... their only problem were the bugs and glitches (still not as many and as bad as Fallout 76), but those were almost charming in a way, and after less than a year of updates, 95% of the gamebreaking bugs were fixed, so it wasn't too bad... Skyrim was the last good game they made... and at least Fallout 4 has mods. Fallout 76 has literally NOTHING good.
I did several studies on the bethesda following vs the BioWare following back from 2002 to 2016.
Bethesda's following is on average 40 IQ points lower than BioWare's, but BioWare's is much, mush more racist.

Same goes for the Horse Armor DLC if it came out today -- those types would literally defend it as "just cosmetic" even though back in the day it got rightfully mocked into oblivion (no pun intended.) People have let their standards slip, let themselves be the frog boiled by one degree at a time and not noticing. And before anyone rages at me, of course I admit "just cosmetic" obviously isn't quite as bad as a full randomized lootbox p2w system, but it's still not a GOOD thing. It's just not the worst possible thing (like full rando p2w lootbox,) but it's still not good, still not ideal.

You're jumping the gun quite a bit aren't you? Bethesda always pull off their single player stuff, Just seems to be multiplayer they cant manage.
@@Dusty-- I dunno... I think Bethesda peaked with FO:NV and think that FO4 didn't quite live up to NV. Which, could be seen as a sign of them going downhill as a whole (Kind of like how Bioware peaked with ME2 with ME3 being a bit under the expectations and then everything after being a complete shitshow)
I think that when a company gets to the point of not giving a single care about their customers and shovel out an unfinished product (Such as FO76) that they've kind of lost the plot. Especially given that 76 failed on more than just the multiplayer aspects, it failed in terms of them lying, cutting corners on merch, implementing MTX garbage (Which EA has shown, doesn't care about if a game is single or multi player) and making a game that just plain sucked.
This was ON TOP of the issues that arose from them not being used to multiplayer games (Such as the Dev room, various exploits and glitches and the like that are fairly normal to find in their single player titles, but shouldn't exist in a multiplayer game).
Sure, ES6 could be great. But at this point, it really doesn't look like Bethesda really give a shit about making a good game anymore.

@@carpenoctem oh, 50%? Sorry i misheard that
Yeah, 50% slower spoil rate is terrible. No problem, just cook it and store for tomorrow’s game session, right? Well, 8 hour natural spoil rate becomes 12 hours. I think the thing with "The Invader" is that it is an equivalent alternative to the "Combat Knife", but perhaps the way the game files are structured doesn't allow Bethesda to implement it simply as a skin. It still shows how Bethesda is willing to do anything that won't cross the arbitrary "competitive advantage" line which they set for themselves probably based on the maximum they thought players would be willing to tolerate.

Everybody can see through that like single plie toilet paper. What they're doing is pushing the envelope update by update. Everytime they do a part of the community gets justifiably upset and another part of the community goes "why do you even care, it's just repairs/scrap kits/freezers/some extra scrap, not like that'll help you in combat, chill out, blah blah blah.
Then next patch they'll introduce something else. The end result will be a store FULL of "small convenience items" that add up to a massive time-saver that allows spending players to actually enjoy the game while F2P peasants get to root through the trash for stuff because everything they have breaks quicker, they need to run around more to scrap, return to camp more to store stuff, go hunt food more often because it spoils quicker and look for more scrap because they don't have a roomba bot at home hoovering up scrap for em.
They're just looking to move the goal posts a tiny bit further with every update because they know pay to win is where the real money is and they also know that people won't like it if they introduce it tomorrow. Step by step and at some point in the future they can sell whatever the fuck they like because everybody will be used to their bullshit.
Exactly. It's the same shit companies like EA have been doing for years.
The incremental advancement of pay-to-win is just adding more lube to the asshole of the gaming community before Bethesda shoves the whole meat in.
