Sounds like you're just playing devils advocate. Defending that purchase huh lol. I hate Armour Crate, the os sucks, some games crash on you and most i.portantly, the battery sucks!!!! Defeats the purpose of being a handheld. The switch feels more like a true handheld than the rog.

I feel like this may be a great fit for me. I'm 31 and have wanted to build a pc for years. Always been an xbox gamer. As I've gotten older, my gaming time has drastically cut down and the desire to build a pc has dwindled. So to have something that I can pick up and leave off from where I was on my console if it's a cross save game is amazing. Plus being able to buy games from steam which was the main reason I wanted a pc (to expand my gaming library).
Had the ally a week and i love it. Dont love constantly worrying about my sd but extended warranty thru best buy and im getting a dongle usb hub as a back up. Thats a big design flaw, and production overlook. But my sd drive gave out in my firsy switch very early on. Im not gonna return it for the go or just wait another year. I have been waiting. I like what the ally is doing for me and im excited for the future. This busy dad appreciates the luxury of a pc in my hands when i have an hr.
Been playing it almost everyday since launch as well, literally my best purchase in such a long time, I've beat dragon quest 11, crisis core, and warriros orochi 4 on it, all at 1080p max settings. Truly the best pc handheld 🤩

Love your voice too, very soothing. I agree with a lot of the points you make about handhelds, like portability and turning off the Deck and Ally. Decided I'd wait for a little while until I replace my Deck for some more options. Great vid!

The UI on the rog had already been fixed a lot at this point and i can't spend 750$ or 800 on the legion and live with that crayon UI it has 😂. I also like how upfront you are about how you treat your technology. I baby my shit lol
Hahahah well I’m glad the vid helped you make a decision. My ROG is still in perfect condition after all this time. And it plays games a bit smoother than legion go due to software stability in my opinion
etsy sells grips that make the ally feel like holding a steam deck they're worth purchasing imo. I own both the SD & ally I prefer the ally to the SD pick up a anker 737 power bank & 10 ft 100watt USBC cable & you're good to go.

The steam deck with Windows 11 is the most inconvenient thing of this world... As soon as I got my rog ally I sold my Steam Deck, the ally is vastly superior in every way. (Unless you're into Linux and SteamOS). The Legion go seems nice, but not having a VRR screen will still keep the ally in advantage.
Cool review, just saw your ROG Ally vs Legion GO comparison. Still a difficult choice to me, I feel the Legion GO is the overall better device, but I like the aesthetics of of the ROG Ally and the fact that you say it is a firm device. The Legion GO is basically a tablet with controller attached to the side, which allows for the cool control features, but probably compromises safety more. EDIT: Thankfully, I have been using Radeon since 2013 and understand the technical difficulties of Windows, so that doesn't bother me to much over the convenience of the Steam Deck.
If you want durability, ROG ally is for you. It seems like the legion go is durable as well however you do have 3 pieces you have to worry about. Ask yourself this. Why do you play video games? For me, I like to be immersed. Forgetting about reality and putting myself in a new world. So my choice is the legion go for the screen.

Therefore, I think the Legion GO is better in that sense, but I must say when you played Starfield in the dark with those RGB lights the ROG Ally looked quite immersive for me😅 But yeah, difficult choice ahead for me, apparently the Legion GO has more durable Joysticks as well and I like the "vertical mouse feature". I just don't like the full black and tablet look as much, but then again I prefer the larger screen.
I loved using my Rog ally however I had to send it to be repaired for 4 times now going on 5 this time I'm going exchange it for the legion go.. Asus really messed up on build quality.

The not being able to resume a game is a non issue for me. I always turn my games off even on the Xbox with Quick Resume.
