Have to say this series of videos is motivating me to start my 2.3 L rebuild. it will be my first, so all the little tips are helping drive my interest. My biggest dilemma is build the turbo block or the NA block. keep up the fine work I"m enjoying it immensely.
increasing the gap to make the rings fit may give enough seal to run the engine but as the rings are probably meant for an oversize bore their diameter may not match your bore. They may not contact with even pressure around the bore.
I totally understand what you're saying and I do agree , normally I wouldn't be building an engine with worn bores but that's the point of this challenge, make do with what we have and make the best of it.... I have done many Pinto builds and everything was freshly machined or new... This challenge is just for a bit of fun , throwing the best old leftover parts together with the minimum cost... Its not going in a vehicle, it will be run on 100LL AVGAS while I try the Chinese Weber copies and then if someone comes forward with a dyno we can run it up just for a laugh....
sorry Adi - having problems after problems down here , cant often get time to watch things - excellent video yet again - puts my motorcycle mechanical skills to shame 8)
Love the measuring rig

I would not worry about the block not being a turbo block. You only have to worry about the compression ratio.
Don’t forget I’m up first on my channel at 8pm folks! Join me in live chat, the after back here for supper !

I'm sure when you do have chance you will watch them.... As for problems, got a few myself so totally understand
Hi what camshaft would you use ? Would a high performance one work
I will be using the regular 2 litre cam as I don't intend revving it beyond 6500 rpm ...
Would a 1600 camshaft rev higher?
File them down they'll be ok
