I do have curiosity about one thing. It appears Ya'll raised the height of your van's floor, by installing a wooden sub-floor. Once Ya'll cut all that cardboard, why couldn't You have laid the wooden sheets right on-top the metal floor and sound dampening materials ? You mentioned You'll be transporting a motorcycle, but ... I'm not understanding the additional wood framing (under your floor).
@@kenvasilik3730 Hey Ken, the cardboard was used as a template for the plywood that goes on-top of the frame of the sub-floor and then on-top of the vinyl floor as protection. Without creating the sub-floor there would no structural support for everything that would be build on-top of it. Plus the XPS foam that we used on insulation has a specific crush rating that is 15 to 20lbs per square inch that would immediately get damaged with the ribs pushing into it vs. sitting on top.
I have red 2022 High top, relatively few red ones, easy to find in Walmart parking lot. Also have 2017 F150 exact same color. The paint holds up well too.
I have a 2017 350hd for my build and absolutely love it. It is comfortable handeling for long hauls ( I did get some back support cushions) and has not let me down once in 120k miles. I have a honda fit as well and have a hard time driving it once I got used to the transit.
Several months ago, I ordered a RED 2023 med-high roof 148" wb, standard length body cargo van (very much like yours) but on a 3/4 ton chassis. Swivel seats, dual bat & alternators (ALL the extra features). Looking forward to a Oct 2023 delivery. Then will set it up for retired traveling for my service dog, and myself. I'm shocked that your dealer felt that minor scratches, dents & dings were all acceptable. Ordered ours through a fellow Knight, so I have a high expectation upon delivery. I just subscribed to your channel. Look forward to seeing your build-out process, and it's final finish as a class B RV vehicle.

Being recently retired, my service dog and I just need something reliable to travel around in. Something we can pull over when necessary, make a sandwich, pop a cold one, maybe take a nap, relieve myself, wash up, then ... get back on the road. Any planned overnighter's will be anticipated, thus reservations will be made in advance. A Dometic refer/freezer, porta-potty, a bench seat that's wide & long enough to lay down on, a solar panel and a Bluette generator to power a Dometic 12 vt. roof-top AC unit (for my furbaby) ... and we're solid. I wish to continue watching Your conversion video's and enhance my notes, so when our Transit van is delivered (Oct 2023), we can know what's possible, and how we might accomplish it. You can trick the swivel seat alarm by removing the little sensor under the front of the seats and tie wrapping the little swing arm closed. I did my passenger seat on my 2020 Transit RV

I just found out they dont make the tire size in winter tires for the 2022 dually. So unfortunately I can not get any winter tires, my ford dealership told me that the 2022 dually has different tire size than 2021 which are 205/75R16C. 113/111R. No one makes that size In winter tires, they are tell me I can not go wider because the dually will rub each other, so now when winter times comes around I'm stuck with the all season. He said they are not sure when any tire manufacturers will make the 205 in winter
Missed if you got the trailer brake controller? I have a '23 on order and the brake controller may force the large console. I thought the large console gets in the way of swivel seats, and I may decide to drop these (controller and console)? I would be okay if the inverter was dropped off, but did they give you a $ credit since it is part of the Adventure package? I am waiting to get specifics of the trail package/model and roof vent.
We just watched the Transit Trail teaser and are very interested in what it's going to include and if that Roof Fan will be an option - but it's too late for us to order it anyway lol. We did not get the trailer brake controller but we did get the large center console b/c we were hoping our water bottles would fit there (note, Nalgene and Hydroflask DO NOT) but there is a little storage underneath that's nice. We did get a check from Ford when we brought up the inverter was missing, so that's a positive.

I currently have it in my order though cost was missing, should be available at November formal introduction. I hope it is close to a retail priced fan kit, and is better engineered (metal support structure and gasketed) vs typical RV install that likely will leak at some point.
Joey here - I'm not sure if it's that easy because there is no electrical wiring in the basic fold-out mirror. There is a fuse spot, so if you felt like running the wires when replacing the mirrors I'm sure it could be done.
what would be a possible issue of opening doors to spin seat? i get it raining or bears outside things. doors close again while reversed right? 2 cans krylon spray blk paint will do your rims for $5.95 ea
If there is an emergency and we need to leave our campsite in the middle of the night (like someone knocking on the window, or a bear, etc) - we would not be able to sit safety in the seat because we could not turn it around. Rain/snow/high winds/etc. all the elements would be a pain to deal with. Joey says we arn't using spray paint on the wheels of a 60k van lol
Whoa, BIG RED! Lol! Bummer that you got the manual e-brake and not the electronic e-brake, it really frees up the space between the front seats. I just got a 22 model year AWD Transit cargo van and had to remove the power sliding side door just to get it built and not have to order a '23. Good luck with your conversion! Are you going DIY or using an upfitter?
Congrats on your Transit! What color did you go for? We are converting it ourselves, the process has already began but we've got a lot more to get done before we leave in January for our first big trip!
That’s actually a misconception. Red cars don’t get pulled over more often because they are simply red - more sports cars are offered in red than non-sporty choices leading to more interaction with the police. I’m sure our 8,000lbs van will not be speeding.

The Transit just cruises! And so much easier to drive (IMO) than the Sprinter or the Promaster, it feels like a normal truck.

Question do you know if the normal folding mirror can just change the glass too the heated mirrors
