Kia EV9 FIRST DRIVE - Will Kia's Flagship 6/7 seat EV win over Range Rover customers ?!

- I flew to Scotland for the first UK drives of the all-electric Kia EV9. Will Kia's new flagship 6/7 seat SUV be a match for the likes of Range Rover ? I did a studio shoot with the EV9 earlier this year but it was great to finally get behind the wheel and share with you just what it is like to drive.

Peter, the Elephant in the room is not the vehicle itself, but U.K. insurance rates. The cheapest quote I was offered as a central London resident with secure underground parking was £2200 per annum fully comp, with over 20 years of no claims. My current 4 year old Range Rover comes in at £515 per annum for the same cover.
Im pretty sure there’s some kind of conspiracy against the EVs , probably by the oil oligarchs!!
Surprised you can insure the RR at all in London 😬
Great video as usual, and stunning scenery. Why do some people get so hung up on the badge? If I could afford to buy that sort of car, I would go for the Kia every time over a JLR product because of the latter's appalling reliability record. If a manufacturer gives a 7 year warranty it shows they have faith in the quality of their product.
Exactly 👍
There you go, if I could afford it. When will you comment on how ridiculously expensive these are?
Are you not, so that the manufacturers don't stop you testing?
Depends what you are comparing it with. I could never afford one, but you see plenty of Range Rovers around, so some people can. Pete always makes very fair comments on the price of things he drives.
I have owned 3 Kia cars in the last 8 years and yes the warranty is good but do not forget they give the USA market 10 years guarantee . I ask why are we viewed as 2nd class by Kia in the UK ?
I now think Kia are getting greedy over pricing their models and now Snows my local dealers have decided to drop as too expensive their pick up and return for servicing.
I will not spend hours sitting in the dealership located on an Industrial park for hours waiting for the service to be done
Please note Kia, Toyota on the same commercial park as Snows offer in the UK 10 years guarantee and pick up and return service as well.
I am getting now disenchanted about the brand and dealer and will if the situation is the same be heading towards Toyota not Kia for my next purchase.
A shame as I have written a few comments on this site in praise of Kia.
@@russelllevan3878 Strangely, there are plenty of ICE Range Rovers, BMW's, Mercs etc, priced at £60, £70k and beyond. Has that ever been an issue for you previously?
It’s amazing how big kids are these days. When I went to school in the 90s, 3 kids fitted in the back of a Golf no problem and all our gear in the boot.
😂😂😂
And a golf 3 was smaller than a current polo
It’s affluenza 😂kids are bigger
90s pahh, in the 70s and 80s we were in the boot, and I use to crack my head on my dads cortina estate tailgate hinge whenever he turned left.
We had a Renault 11.
Caravan on the back.
Two adults and three teens.
Labrador on top of luggage for 5 under the tailgate.
90bhp / 102lb/ft
3rd gear on hills.
No problem 😀
Gorgeous car! And great vid as usual mate. But I’m Not sure why you say “put the Kia badge aside” because tech, build and reliability wise Kia are pretty much up there with other major brands now. I just ordered a Kia seltos over other Japanese brands because of better price, tech, reliability comparisons. But I gotta say the price of all ev’s puts an end to me ever buying one until they make them cheaper. Very enjoyable vid. Thanks
I know they are but many people still don’t 😢
Loved the look and style of the EV9 when you did the pre launch video it looks even better on the road. Kia are certainly moving forward in a really great way. Another good video Ped.
Thanks mate 👍
Just the most stunning video. Love the shots. Well done.
Thank you very much!
Stunning scenery and great video Pete 👍
Thanks 👍
In the Canadian market the top GT trim is $78,000 CAD. That’s around 46,000 Pounds Sterling. It’s an amazing deal here. The ix50 is around 110, same with the Q8 etron.
A hybrid Discovery is around 95k.
So in this market if the interior is as good as you say, this is a deal.
Wow 😮
@@PetrolPed I owned a Disco 5 and found it to be a good hauler (family and MTB). Though the rear seats were not that useable.
How do you think the EV9 stacks up against cars like the Disco 5 or even the IX50? I find those cars are having a harder time defending their premium, because they aren’t that much better and they are no longer exclusive.
In North America you have the Cadillac Lyriq that can be had for similar money, undercutting the Germans by 25k-ish.
I wonder how all of this activity at the “near luxury” end will affect luxury sales now that interest rates are high?
Thoughts?
Such a wonderful video. Thank you all for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review, as always!
Thanks again!
Good comparison with the BMW iX - the equivalent range and spec of those to this Kia costs over £110k ! [which is only a 5 seater]
People complaining about £75k 🤔 This is a bargain ! 👍🏻
Well said!
Excellent review, and good to see that the EV9 shares some of the great driving dynamics of the EV6. Wasn't sure about the looks at first, but I went to the launch event and in the metal it's hugely impressive (and huge) with some nice surfacing. The EV6 has already dealt with the "50/60/70k for a Kia" issue (I bought one), and this needs to be compared with the new electric Range Rover, which I guess will be well over £100k. Also worth mentioning that the third row is genuinely adult-sized, not something that would only suit kids. I have no need for a car this big, but for those that do, the EV9 looks like a winner.
👍
Hi Pete, and welcome to Scotland.
Great review as usual, and beautiful location.
I'll save my judgement on the cars looks until I see it in the metal on the road, which given its price may be some time !
Can't help but thinking that if MG ever brought a similar sized car to the market, it would surely be much cheaper !!
Probably but it would be nearly as premium 😬
Great to see you driving around my old stamping ground and there are times when I miss driving these roads. (but not in the tourist season!)
Not a fan of large EVs like this, but the road test and commentary were first-class.
Glad you enjoyed it
That scenery, WOW, loved the intro too mate.
I really like how it looks, finding it hard to get my head around the weight. It’s the same as my Lwb Vivaro Van fully loaded.
Yeah, It's about the same weight as the new Range Rover or other cars that size. Are cars that big really required?
@@stepheneasson9787 Maybe for the right family it would be, a big family.
Thanks 👍
Look forward to seeing this mate 💪🏻

Great review as normal Peds 👌👌
Much appreciated 👍
Great review and looks fantastic - in the shortlist for my next car 👍
Good choice!
One of my favourite roads to Skye….It’s stunning in the right weather, glad it wasn’t just pishing down as usual up here.
Super foggy the next day so we were very lucky 👍
I enjoyed watching the Video Review 😊
I'm so glad!
Great review and what awesome scenery, you're a long way from home fella. What a car... Looks fantastic and I fully agree, if one was in the company car market and looking for an attractive BiK, and the capability this car provides, it's a no brainer.
Thanks 👍
Stunning scenery there in the video . An interesting vehicle indeed now 👍👍
Thanks 👍
This is an impressive vechile. Can’t wait for it to arrive in Australia
Such beautiful scenery. It makes one want to pack the family in the EV9 and go gallivanting across the countryside. That warranty should help a great deal, too. Nothing to quibble over at all, apart from the controls. SO many other cars suffer from that, though. As I've even seen terrible control layouts in computer software programmes, these same engineers who try to design HVAC and other controls don't seem to have a sense of the ergonomics of automotive controls. Still...you got along great, enjoyed a memorable drive, and expertly presented a very worthy contender. Aloha.
Cheers Jim 👍
Wow, wow, wow!
Excellent, review, outstanding scenery and a very nice EV.
Pete your reviews are becoming better and better and becoming my go to videos for unbiased, honest and very informative watching👍🏻👊🏻
Kia are becoming the brand to watch! Great tech, quirky and futuristic styling and have the pricing of their vehicles just right. They are certainly the brand to watch in the future and deservedly so.
BTW I drive a BMW X3😊
Thanks! 👍
75k! To my mind that's still a massive amount of money. However, compared to the EV9s rivals it's a bit of a bargain.
Great video Ped but this particular Kia isn't for me.
Exactly. That’s the way you need to see it. Plus lower BIK etc 👍
I’m in a Sorento currently and really intrigued by this. Looking forward to a test drive
You will love it 👍
@@PetrolPed saw the unveiling at our local dealer. Very impressed. But my driveway will be filled by EV9 if it fits at all!! 😂😂 great review btw
Absolutely stunning scenery, there really isn’t anywhere more beautiful on a glorious day such as you had…….. the car, can’t say it floats my boat in the looks department, I don’t doubt it’s a pleasant driving experience but sorry not for me.. Also, as ever, I have to ask how is a 2.7t EV going to save the planet?? Sorry I’m not convinced 😔
Who ever said it was going to save the planet?
@@SeanPowell is this not given as the reason for forcing us into BEVs?
@@reinmansmith they're a new and better technology, better for air quality, lower carbon footprint, but not going to save anything. Better? Yes. The be all and end all of tackling climate change? No
Hi Ped
Stunning scenery, and you were so lucky with the weather, even if it was a little cold. Never been in the market for a multi seater wagon, thank heavens, and cannot see this would change in the future. Looks not for me, thank you, and I bet this would be a nightmare finding a parking space in a busy supermarket car park. I beg to differ with you on the possible market, I think this will be limited and not a big number seller for Kia.😥
Interesting SUV, even the little Robin at 5:03 took a keen look at it!
He was so cheeky. Came right up to me 😂
I'm really disturbed by the general pricing of EVs at the moment. I mean who's going to be able to afford to buy one outright? Really very few people I think. I believe that a lot more people will be forced into PCPs or into buying on credit that perhaps may not be a wise choice. OK, I hear you say that people shouldn't get into more debt than they can afford, but they do nevertheless. Of course an alternative is to remain with what I feel is likely to be the ever-increasing tax cost of petrol or diesel vehicles. Either way we're all going to be paying more.
I agree. I didn’t a video on that very subject recently 👍
To be fair not many people buy new cars outright, you have to be pretty wealthy to have nearly £30,000+ lying around and second hand EV prices have dropped considerably this year.
@@PetrolPed Well if you didn't a video then I won't watch it 😉
Most people either lease or acquire a new car via a PCP agreement, so depreciation isn't a major consideration.....
Nice to see you up in my part of the world ...I know those roads very well..:-).
i bought my partner a Kia Soul EV and she loves it....this EV9 is a Soul on steroids in all departments. It's obviously a well thought out vehicle but for me yes really great on open Scottish roads but its size would be enough to put me off buying one.
I'd like to see you review one of these in a urban setting. I mean I can think of so many scenarios where just trying to park and manoeuvre would be a nightmare. Seems more suited to the American market than our generally narrow and crowded UK roads.
It has the same footprint as an XC90 👍
Another cracking EV review 👏
Thanks again!
When you talk about the comparison with JLR products particularly, JLR currently seem to be hell bent on destroying the marque over the whole vehicle security issues (and therefore insurance costs) so not only would a Kia undoubtedly be more reliable, but JLR will have a heavily tarnished reputation to drag themselves out of!
What a beautiful location for a car review!
Amazing 👌
@@PetrolPed I'm super jealous.
£75k wow! Pretty much unattainable for the average person
Look forward to these being £30-35k at 3 years old though, that's a lot of car for the money and will have another 4 years of warranty left.
Afternoon PP
Welcome to my neck of the woods (as a Scotsman sad I’ve never been to that location only saw it in Highlander or Bond movies)
Car looks cool though like to see it other colours.
Stunning pet of the world 👌
Personally i love it! good looking , different ! tad heavy , like the top spec one you are in! 75k? - but as you clearly say the competition is way more expensive! love those Scottish roads -know these well , you should try S Ireland ring of Kerry similar fab views ! Your channel keeps getting better all the time , love that you can swap from big to small , then super cars to family cars - its diverse ! interesting coverage and maturing nicely ! keep em coming! Mr Ped!
I did a drive tour of Ireland this year in an Aston Martin Vantage, including the Ring of Kerry. Video on the channel 👍
Cool - i shall watch it tonight! @@PetrolPed
The KIA engineering skill has no bounds. .. KIA will sell every EV9 model it brings to N. America. .. KIA is deservedly on a roll. ..
What is the KIA EV model's warranty? .. Their ICE models, if I recall, have a 10-year/100K-mile powertrain warranty. .. Cheers, Think Snow
Hi ped love the number plate. The car if your in the market for that size of vehicle then yes it’s a good car . I do think Kia / Hyundai are giving the Germans a run for there money when it comes to Ev’s. And yes Scotland has definitely got some of the best driving roads we were up around Glen co a few years ago and wow the scenery was amazing.
Totally agree 👍
Got to go to bed I'll watch this tomorrow
5:09 Hello pal love the photo bomb by the lil Robin. Defo a real edgy design. First impression to me looks good.
Don't like electric cars...
But love that part of Scotland 😊
Cheers mate it's good for some people
Not my type off vehicle but looks different and been a Kia good build and reliability.
But really liked the scenery and remembered some of the spot when last up there in 2016/2017 cracking roads 👌.
By the way Pete another cracking video 📹 keep it up one of the very best out there 👍
Thanks so much Nick 🙏🏻
Out of curiosity, what impact do the headlights make on range, particularly in colder climates?
Heater will be on too!
Headlights not so much. Heating does eat into range. Some car worse than others
@@PetrolPed I'd anticipate losing 10% plus of range in my eNiro if I used my heater a lot on a longer run. I can live with that... I'd stop for 40 minutes or so to charge on a longer trip anyway, so I don't consider it an issue....
It’s immaterial now but really curious what people would have said it was if given the price and it was completely de badged. Reckon that would pull a house and still return 150 miles. Maybe not at -2 though. Great review.
👍
Hello Peter….if people are looking for a large estate with EV powertrain then just buy ths. I saw it at Goodwood and people were all over it so I’m not surprised about the advance orders. At nearly three tonnes, it is a massive lump to do a job that Renault did with the Espace decades ago but it fits current fashion and perceived needs….KIA have got this right and very sadly, JLR have been fast asleep and with current problems, have paid the price. Scotland…a favourite place since 1964….just perfect. Well done Peter as always! 😀😀😀😃😃
Thanks Richard 👍
This weighs about the same as discovery 3 land rover.. nice motor love it and the video btw
Cool, thanks!
Really interesting, and in that part of the world they should sell dozens (there are at least as many charging points on the NW500 as petrol pumps).
Good range, 4x4 and able to deal with Highland roads, I'll wait till I see it in the metal but it looks better in this video than in any of the studio ones I've seen.
I reckon this is the best looking of Kia's EVs and should each the Range Rovers' lunch (they seriously missed a trick in not getting past the iPace).
It looks better than the Rivian, which we don't get anyway.
👍
A short wheel base version would be great... a KIA 4.5 if you will, it would give any future EV Defender 90 a run for it's money. Just out of interest Peter, was some of the B-Roll footage in your video shot in North Yorkshire, I'm sure I saw RAF Fylingdales Radar Station in the background in one scene?
There will be an EV5 which is a smaller version of the EV9. If you look it up you will find it's almost identical in looks just smaller and reportedly is going to be considerably cheaper
It’s called the EV5…coming soon 👍
Don't forget that if you have a Land Rover or Range Rover you might not be able to insure it or keep it on your driveway... So the EV9 might be a perfect replacement
Good point 👍
Looks like a competent car but its the badge for me and I did love my sportage but at the first opportunity to get back into a Land Rover I jumped at the chance and instantly regretted it as it sat in the dealers for 3 months awaiting a part. That is a good point about the only electric vehicle with more than 5 seats so I suppose horses for courses. I do live in a stunning part of the UK and do enjoy it at any opportunity. Off on another 300 mile day trip up North in a weeks time. Can't wait.
I think you need to be prepared for a new world order in terms of car manufacture. All the years ago, Toyota and Nissan took sales from the traditional manufacturers, in particular in the UK, Ford and Vauxhall. That was followed by Kia and Hyundai, chasing the Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Ford and Vauxhall markets. With the increasing dominance Evs, now Kia and Hyundai are dominating those markets but also filtering into BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Polestar, with essentially Chinese manufacturers such as BYD, Orca and Smart stepping in at the more "value for money" end of the market. Many, if not most of these cars have significant Chinese components anyway. JLR appear to be far behind in terms of providing competitive EV's and if they don't start delivering son, I really fear for their continued existence.
I agree it's not looking good for them @@philhartley7564
so i guess its closest competition right now would be the lotus Eletre for size/range/price/weight etc , Also, i dont think the climate positioning would bother me too much cause for me, once its set, its rarely touched from drive to drive. PS welcome to Scotland, hope you enjoyed
Certainly one of them. Hoping to drive one soon 👍
I would have thought that the new Hyundai version would likely be its main competitor.
Nice review in a very nice part of the country. Not sure about the looks and the weight of the car though.
Fair enough!
Coming to a city centre and school run near you. The size of these things is 🙄
Actually no bigger than an XC90 👍
How much heavier though?@@PetrolPed
Coming to pavements near you too.
£64000+ for a crappy Kia with a paintwork chip magnet front😢
It's as ugly as FC + UK with possibly the saddest wheels ever! It doesn't matter about the finish, it's the badge that's the biggest problem!
2.7 tons destroying roads and tyres, EV insurance premiums escalating to through the roof and resale values very poor. Reports yesterday that lease deal EV owner's could end up with a pretty low value car😢
It makes a statement = it looks SH - 1 T.
We all know that range figures are lies and with 6 or 7 seated it's not going far, and Scottish roads are so over run with EV charging points, seriously you're peddling EV tat as a driving car when it's only ever a commuter hack in the real world!
Anyone intrigued or interested in the EV 9 surely needs Specsavers 😌
@@vacoas04don’t like Kia’s and EV’s I’m guessing.
I like the edgy looks , great location also, but initial price tag insurance costs and depreciation on a 2.7 ton bohimeth does'nt do it for me. Nice car tho. 😁
You should have mentioned the Volvo EX90 as competition Pete, albeit starting @c£100K.
Yeah I forgot about that one. Not driven one though 😬
Can't the point of vehicles this big for daily drivers, you'll mainly see one person in it most of the time.
Six large adults, would you need a tachograph? :}
No. It's classified as a car.
How can we be progressing the industry when a car weighs nearly 3 tonnes? Soon we’ll need an HGV licence to drive them in the uk
Also can’t imagine the entry level 200bhp version can pull very well in this heavy car
re the price, I wonder what the residuals will look like - could be a second hand bargain?
Great video, very interesting car but pricey!
It really is!
You got yourself a new fan, some bird (don't tell the missus!) XD That robin was shockingly umbothered by you and the car. Now the sensible comment having seen the rest - looks interesting but I did hear those beeps and bongs... which will drive most people potty - they remind me very much of the squad car in Demolition Man! Also, sooner or later car OEMs are going to have to realise that fleet price allowances and private buyer buying power is nowhere near keeping up with these prices - this car would have been £35k only 5 years ago - my pay hasn't doubled in that time and neither has anyone elses, especially after inflation is applied so where are they pitching all these EV's? 80% of the population are struggling to buy a second hand ICE car so how do we plan to get them into an electric? Then don't get me started on insurance costs....
He was super friendly 😂
I hear maintenance on EV's is very low but I never hear anybody talk about how much the tires cost and how quickly they wear out.🎉 Imagine with twice the weight and 3 times the torque? What else do you think causes tires to wear? I wonder how their production and disposal factor in the carbon footprint.
After the recent trip to the States, in terms of Quirky, the Rivian they have certainly made me turn my head.
Looks pretty good but a new battery will cost $60,000.00USD
Within 10 secs I’m thinking, what’s Ped doing up my way. Roads are super empty at this time of year.
😂😂😂
*still waiting for all the reviewers to lose the "i know it's expensive for a Kia" They've earned it by now This is not the Kia Pride
I think RR seem to be struggling a little still, reliability and also their Electric side.
Evening mate
I was on the UK presentation and I love this car. BUT... it's massive. it WOULD be perfect as a second car for holidays and weekend trips, but then you probably don't want to pay 80k for a getaway car.
And if you will use it as a daily as school run then office, you will be quickly promoted public enemy #1 just after Karen with her V8 Range Rover. And then... if you can afford 80k for a summer trip car, 250miles from 100kWh battery is understandable but disappointing. I think we still have to wait five years to get 250 but from 50kWh and 500 miles from 100kWh. After my trip from UK to Poland, with the autobahn speeds charging was an almost hilarious experience. We don't need larger batteries, we need more effective technology.
IF I could afford EV9 as my guilty pleasure I would buy it instantly.. but for now, it's a car for a very small niche, or very rich people with dogs and paddleboards
This looks like its going to be a good one

Ah you spotted him. He was so brave and cheeky. Came right up to me while I was filming 🥰
Yes Pete I noticed he was getting "friendly" lol. As for the car. Inside, brilliant, outside, for me a bit "Marmite", especially the front view 🙂
That's the great thing about electric cars, they are so affordable.😅
You still need to look at the total cost of ownership. So compared to an ICE equivalent like Range Rover they absolutely are, especially for company car owners (lower BIK, off peak charging and lower servicing cost for example) 👍
They are indeed, if you choose the right one. Like the 2016 Renault Zoe with 35k miles, I saw someone buy for £4400 not that long ago. Why do so many people always seem to assume you *have* to buy new when it comes to EV's?
A similar ice car in spec would be similar if not more depending on brand.
If you want an affordable new EV, look no further than BYD.
Sorry, people can't see my tongue coming out of my cheek😄
Stunning scenery, beautiful day, shame about the car, any EV doesn’t rock my boat.
Have you actually driven one?
Impressive lump that KIA. They have certainly upped the game with their electric vehicles. Was thinking what will vehicle excise duty be based on when C02 is not an issue 🤔. Well, they should tax weight !!
Yep. That’s the plan 👍
Fantastic but too big for me, maybe the EV5 will be a better fit
That looks like it will be a great car 👍
Big family car it would also be a good taxi
Shoulda popped in fer an espresso, PP...
Surely it’s real competition is obvious? Merc EQB and Tesla Model Y are both 7 seat electric SUV’s.
Why not compare to them?
I could have also mentioned Volvo 🤷♂️
The major downside to this car is the Kia dealers in the UK, the majority are atrocious. Imagine the sales and post-sale experience with this £75,000 motor. Its non existent and Kia should have just rolled out direct sales. This will easily be £2000+ to insure, so no competition for range rover at all.
Owners of Range Rovers and the-like, have always been the target of comments like “why do they need a car that big?” etc, but here we are, a vehicle the size of a Transit (even you look small in it) and now there’ll be seven people moaning about charging connectivity issues, with a frunk no bigger than something to take a laptop bag. The biggest winner here, will be Costa at £30 a stop! Rant over.
It’s is the same size as an XC90 and the frunk in the dual motor version is 50L 🤷♂️
Hmm second hand could be interesting
Was there an action packed influencer piss up at the hotel in the evening?
No. Just a nice meal and the chance to talk to the product specialists from Kia 👍
@@PetrolPed
Of course 🤓
That beauty influencer Rodie must be all business on a rare night away from the kids 🤣
I just watched Matt's review (@HighPeakAutos) right before yours and I picked up on the nice Northern Irish (county Antrim) plate (KIA 9). Matt included some B-roll of that same car in his review, but it looks to be the one that you were actually driving!
Luckily I was allocated the car that Kia used to shoot the b-roll (which was actually shot in Yorkshire 😜) 👍
Almost 100kwh battery and 260 mile range 🤔,
full charge on a rapid charger will be in excess of £70.00 no doubt for only 250 miles maybe
Or £7.50 for charging at home which will cover the vast majority of journeys.
Best charge at home then 😜
@@PetrolPed did you charge whilst out on your Scotland trip, any feedback on cost to do the trip?
@@neilmick6778 the average price for a KWH of energy at home is about 0.30p I think, 100kwh pack to charge at home ready for that trip would be about £30 so quite a lot less than rapid charger !
The cars were charged at the hotel by Kia 👍
£80k for an EV, which will probably depreciate like a stone! I suppose if you take it on PCP, realise that you will be in negative equity at the end of the agreement, having paid £800+ a month and are therefore prepared to treat the agreement as a rental, you might enjoy the experience 🙄
Love this car - I just need more kids 🤣
😂😂😂
Saving the planet 2600 kg at a time, too big ,too heavy and too expensive
An ICE Range Rover weighs (and costs) around the same..........
Actual real life range would have been good, after all range anxiety is the main EV market problem, even before the charging problems they have. Call me an old cynic if you will but with your experience how come it was not on the clip. Maybe well less than the published figures I guess at -2, not good for the Kia sales, even at a sale price of £76,000. 🤣
I actually stated the real life range and put a clip of the dash saying what is was 🤷♂️ Around 240-250 miles when tested 👍
75k for a Kia!! I’d love to see what this will be on the used market after seeing all premium EV’s have lost a ton of money. I’ll say it again 75k though 🤦🤦🤦
Most people who choose this car will lease it, so there won't be the depreciation shock you might see if you bought it outright....
Big problem, its an battery EV, no performance uplift can make up for the suicidal ownership experience
Honestly depends on your journey profile. If you can charge at home EV ownership is far from suicidal 👍
Nice car but "THE PRICE" just where do they get their pricing from. I cant understand how since Covid just how much manufacturer's have raised their prices. We are being taken for a ride literally.
All car prices have gone up hugely. This car does look good value compared to the competition 👍
I have a friend who is sales manager for Peugeot Ireland who told me after Covid manufacturers decided they wanted to make more money. Peugeot and many others basically formed a Cartel in order to
Do just that.
Its criminal when you think about it with no real justification other than greed.
If you feel it's too expensive, you have the option of not buying it and instead choosing something less costly...
@Brian-om2hh you miss my point, I like the car but what I was saying is that manufacturers have pushed prices up significantly using Covid as the reason. Its greed not Covid that has prices going the way they are
I honestly don't see many or indeed any Range Rover owners swapping over, just doesnt have the appeal.
Honestly not what Kia are seeing. A good chunk of their 800 pre sales have come from Land Rover and Range Rover 👍
But it *does* have a 7 year warranty, which at least shows confidence in the quality of the product, the like of which Land Rover can only *dream* about......
@@Brian-om2hh your not wrong, and unlike a Range Rover, nobody's going to nick this.
Anyone who buys a Range Rover over this needs their head examined. The poor reliability of the Range Rover, that they are so common and that they are often stolen means they shouldn’t even be considered.
👍
I'd agree. I wouldn't even buy an ashtray produced by Land Rover. You only have to look at the results of customer satisfaction surveys to see how unreliable they are, once they seem to pass 2 years old....
Buying an ev from a manufacturer famous for their electrical problems is just foolish.
Being a "premium car" is not just about quality and fit and finish, it is about the brand, the heritage and the desirability. Kia does not have this I'm afraid at this price point.
That's all fine and dandy if "heritage" and "desirability" means you get a car that begins to go t*ts up after 2 years, and stays consistently unreliable forever after...... Give me a product with a 7 year warranty, which shows the manufacturer has faith in their product any day.......
Don’t care about brands that don’t care about you. No point in loyalty to a car brand.
It won't eat in to range rover as a second hand phev RR is 50k. Too expensive on the ev tax.
So, you'd actually buy a second hand PHEV Range Rover?? Like a risk, do you? Personally, I wouldn't buy anything made by Land Rover. Not even an ashtray.
Photobombed by a Robin!
He was so cheeky and very brave 🥰
I am on my 4th Kia, my wife also has a Kia Pecanto, I currently drive a 2017 Optima GT Line S that I bought at a year old for just over £20,000, two thirds of the original list price. It is big, roomy especially in the rear seats has a big boot and a decent mpg. Obviously I like Kias, in the main very reliable but I have yet to see an electric car that is anywhere near its size and price.
I would never dream of buying a car for over £75,000 and I am also to be convinced that electric cars will become the norm anytime soon due to the lack of charging infrastructure. I may be considering a newer car this year but at the moment would still go for a diesel or possibly petrol.
