    What's up guys! :) Thought I'd revisit this book and talk about the most important ideas... The steps are based on the following principles:
    Step 1: Be a good listener.
    Step 2: Don't criticize, condemn or complain.
    Step 3: Instead of criticism, use encouragement and appreciation.
    Step 4: Smile.
    Step 5: Remember that a person's name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.
    Step 6: Become genuinely interested in other people.
    Step 7: Make the other person feel important.
    Step 8: If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically.
    Step 9: Talk in terms of the other person's interests / arouse in the other person an eager want / try honestly to see things from the other person's point of view.
    If you want to get the book, affiliate link: amzn.to/1V0pI5z
    Cheers! :)

    I love the point you made in number 6. I spent a lot of time reading books, not doing anything and feeling like I made progress, and than I convinced myself that I was now superior to others because I knew things they didn't, it was just a cycle of mental masturbation. In reality I needed more action and far less theory.

      The power to help people to win the internal war we all face on a daily basis. I use the term "superhero" as a metaphor for rising above the norm and being the best version of yourself. It's not something that you are, but rather something that you strive to be when the time calls for it.

      I think there's a point to be made that everyone does these things occasionally; we all have our ups and downs, and just because one tries to be good doesn't mean that he or she will successful in that pursuit in every situation.

    If you're a sociopath you can do most of this and still make people love you. They have it all

    • @jasonmacendale5141
      @jasonmacendale5141 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason for this is that sociopaths generally have personalities that are like forces of nature and are very entertaining. Outside of a professional environment, probably the worst thing a person can be (socially speaking) is boring. Of course sociopaths (or narcissists) generally lose their appeal once the glamour wears off.

    I have most of your videos on my tablet, and I watch them very often. They help me revise quickly and accurately a book. Forgetting people's names is one of my biggest weaknesses. Need to work extra hard on this one.

    • @SleepEatWorkRepeat
      @SleepEatWorkRepeat 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Joe Buza What I do is as soon as someone tells me their name I try to immediately associate it with a famous celebrity or such. I also try to drop it a few times later in the night to make it stick and show them I took the time to remember it.

    • @SleepEatWorkRepeat
      @SleepEatWorkRepeat 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      What the hell are you talking about? The comment was about meeting people and remembering names. Give him some tips, not condemn him for not knowing people on a "non verbal level."

  • @MirzaBorogovac

    great video! I am guilty of saying "I am not good with names." lol

    • @maumiceli
      @maumiceli 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol same

    • @christopherwild3944
      @christopherwild3944 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Mirza Borogovac A good fix is to reframe your sentence every time you catch yourself saying/thinking your old problem-focused thoughts or words. "I'm not good with names ... but I am working hard to fix that." (if you catch yourself at the end), or "I'm getting better at remembering other people's names every day!".
      The other trick when you learn a name is to really try and imagine what it would be like if you were that person. What would it feel like to be them? What was their day like? What's important to them? I'm telling ya it helps :)
      P.S. I normally try and ask people if they want my opinion before doing the more rude thing and just giving it, but this forum doesn't really allow for easy flow of back-and-forth conversation. Hope some of this is helpful and not just annoying, brother!

    • @MirzaBorogovac
      @MirzaBorogovac 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christopher Wild Thank you. Best method I found to remember someone's name is to actually pay attention and then to repeat it. Some visualization also helps. I use those methods much of the time, but. as with many things, I need to make it a habit.
      I am going to try your method of imagining myself being that person.

    I've read the book. And I feel that this point of view is v effective to get things across to the viewer. It made me realise tiny mistakes that I'm still committing.
    Thank you @fightmediocrity

    I like that, thanks for sharing. It was a great evaluation of the culture at my work and made me realise that I am not the one who is going crazy. I really needed that :)

    Hey man I love your videos. I would be incredibly appreciative if you were to post the music you use on a separate video. It's very relaxing and I feel like it would be excellent for homework and studying. Keep up the great work man
