    We have been homeschooling our 3 children for the last 1 year and can confirm that it requires a lot of commitment from the parents, having said that we can clearly see that their performance has improved significantly compared to that of regular schooling

    Homeschooling is an amazing option for kids but in India people are not much aware it or they don't have time to teach their kids. I am doing Homeschooling of my 2 daughters and they both are intelligent, smart, social and physically fit. We need to aware people in India about Homeschooling or Unschooling. Thanks 🙏

    I am 32 years old, I studied in private school, my parents paid a lot, When I was young I was interested in Sports and Arts and some science, Maths I never passed whole life, I don't like numbers, numbers = depression for me, my whole school life was depression, after finished schooling I discovered I also other interests like psychology, Nutrient and spirituality, can you imagine how much time were wasted for studying Maths, history, economics, imagine if all those time were invests in sports, arts, psychology, nutrients and spirituality....what I would have become? I know its my karma that I had to gone through that BS but don't want my future kids to go through same BS AGAIN!

    I took up homeschooling after 10th standard it felt better for me because I was free to choose when I got to read and when to socialism with friends and not having a pressure from regular examinations. Once I joined it I finished my whole studies in just 3 months because I only picked the subjects I actually like and the rest of the months I was traveling on holidays etc... and spend more time with family. It was more stress free and easier for me than regular schooling. The only con of homeschooling is that lack of socializing well today it would not be a problem because you can find a lot of friends online. I would suggest parents who want to homeschool just put your kids in social activities or else in the future they might lack communication skills even if they are good at their studies.

    We have been homeschooling our child for the past 3 years now. We'll explained video. However, I disagree on the few cons you've mentioned.
    Socialization is a personality trait and even a child going to school can have fewer friends. As a homeschooler, you can always make friends in your community, at homeschool meetups, at the extracurricular classes the child attends etc. You are not limited to interact with just the peer group but in fact can make easy conversations with people of all age groups. Since the child is seeing parents interact with people on an everyday basis, they can understand and identify different personalities and choose to interact with them accordingly. When you are homeschooled, you learn life skills as a part of your everyday life.
    Parents may not be equipped to teach higher grades or advanced levels in various subjects but you have several online resources that offer guidance. You can also choose to hire tutors. As for labs, you don't have to set up one in your house. There are upcoming spaces that offer these facilities. Like you said there are several homeschool co-ops being formed in various cities.
    You have to invest in books regardless if you are a homeschooler or not. You can also find resources in the libraries, find preloved books or even swap/exchange books. So, that isn't a costly affair.
    As far as assessments are concerned, why do we need assessments. Why do we need validation? What's the purpose. The whole idea of self education is to escape from constant external validation that the traditional education system does and to embrace the journey and experience the joy of learning. There's no right or wrong way of doing things, just different ways and different perspectives. If something doesn't work out, you try out something else.
    As far as behaviors is concerned, you realise homeschooling gets you closer to your child. Deep conversations, acknowledging emotions, managing various situations, learning ways to handle feelings in a calm and composed manner, help us lay the foundation for a strong emotional quotient (which is so important).
    Yes, homeschooling is not just about educating the child but rather a way of life. We as parents have to " unlearn" and "relearn" a lot of stuff, because you realise with the information we have in our hands now, so many things can be handled in a much better manner. It does require lots of commitment and patience, but I feel it's totally worth it. There are several support groups on FB and other social media that can help you in your journey.

    It is not just IGCSE or NIOS, in fact state boards allow private candidates. Karnataka state board conducts exams twice a year in Kannada & English medium for private candidates. It must be true with all state boards in India. In fact, few decades back it was common to find pvt candidates in Karnataka. Just few years back we had 2 pvt candidates in one 10th std exam hall. State board pvt exam is best as one can educate kid in our mother tongue as both IGCSE or NOIS unlikely not have.
    Secondly, neighbour teacher can be best for home schooling. Ask neighbour teacher to fix syllabus & share/discuss with parents. Teacher can charge fees (obviously it will be less thn those horrible pvt schools). This can deliver wonders!! Also, its is our age old gurukula system too..

    • @Rightcareers

      You are absolutely right. Since I don't represent or talk about any particular state, I didn't touch upon State Boards. Also all state boards are not uniform in nature.

    There will not be a healthy competitive spirit that can be developed among peers at school. Healthy competition makes the children to refer more books related to curriculum and the learning standard increases automatically.

    • @xenzorygames4116
      @xenzorygames4116 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But my opinion is that it isn't for all... I myself struggled a lot in school I almost felt like forced to memorize everything what were in the books and was not even allowed to phrase the answers by myself that led me to get poor results in school because they only agreed to take up memorized answers... which almost made me feel like a robot I was really got at phrasing my own answers but not in memorizing or reflecting the same answers from books... plus in regular schools it does not cater to all career path it is either software doctor or engineer that is it... in regular schools I feel like the children are forced upon many subjects... which is not required for a career path the kid actually wants to... while in NIOS they offer all of it.

Out of about 15 students from different villages sent to boarding school only two could got through high school certification. Only God knows on what sinful activities they are exposed to. But my parents not that educated I consider something is better than nothing.
