Homeschooling is an amazing option for kids but in India people are not much aware it or they don't have time to teach their kids. I am doing Homeschooling of my 2 daughters and they both are intelligent, smart, social and physically fit. We need to aware people in India about Homeschooling or Unschooling. Thanks 🙏

great thought. One disclaimer which may be intuitive. but think this through. best way would be try convincing some one else about this and try answering there doubt. if you are unable to solve then seek help. and try again.
Because this is great idea needs similar execution. We take for granted but when we send child in school its out source of work which saves time and gives convenience. in home schooling you have to involve in all decisions.
from my friend's experience he had 2 issues he had to face.
      1. I don't think he is learning enough. ( which will be mostly false but this comes from comparison)
      2. Am I taking right decisions for him ? ( He may lack behind his peers. or he may not become world-class )
I will encourage you to go for it. just give it a thought and answer to your self are you will to spend mental , finacial , time resources for your kids future.
Best of luck for your kid for great learning experience. and happy to see people are open to idea of home schooling.

I look back at my school days and in terms of learning it was practically a waste of time. The teacher would get up, go to the board and rattle out a lesson on a new topic usually without any passion crammed into 30mins (the other 30mins just wasted on getting in and out of class, settling the class down etc etc). So we get 30mins of a topic we have absolutely no clue about and then be given ‘homework’ to test us on the lesson. So we get home still wondering what the heck the teacher was on about and starting the learning process at home. But then we have 5 different subjects and 5 sets of homework from that day. Is it any wonder a child goes home and has less hours to learn about the foreign material presented to them than they have at school. So a child VERY quickly becomes despondent. He wasn’t TAUGHT anything but he was TOLD. What does he learn? Mostly nothing. Imagine Aristotle or Archimedes giving a lesson in this way. The time at school is 50% wasted. A child given the right tools can smash their way through a school syllabus in 50% of the time because they are forced to find the answers if they do not understand. In school, you switch off once you don’t follow what the teacher is saying and pray you can catch up by putting in the hours later at home. Its always a catchup after having wasted most of your waking hours at school.

I think if children are home schooled they should be sent to some kind of sports academy to get to socialise. Coz school is where the socialising, friendship, being independent all these things are learnt. It’s not just about the curriculum so there should be a way to get the belongingness feeling.

If schools are where we get to socialize, how many close friends do we have out of a 40-45 numbered classroom? Not beyond 4 or 5, right? I think, homeschoolers get more opportunities than the rest, as they get to interact with people of different age groups than just their peers alone. However, enrolling them on sports/music academies is a good thought. There are many doing the same.

Home schooling will work with a selective section of the society. Considering the socio-economic conditions generally in India, having home schooling will not be effective. The exposure Shantanu has given to his son is amazing, but how many families can do this. Both system has their cons and pros. Just can't push aside the school system totally.

by giving unnecessary copying tasks in the name of homework/assignments/ projects and the worst part is they justified these by labeling it 'the proof of a student studying (an academic proof)'...they did not bother whether the pupil is learning or not ....It more or less felt like they won't teach anything in school hour , and also they would not let you study at home, and heavens forbids they would take it on their small ego if they come to know that a child is taking any private tuitions or cram schools due to substandard teaching and syllabus....by unnecessarily detaining them.

Home schooling is good but I think you might want to have a concrete plan for him. Just hopping around will not be effective. For example, just traveling and visiting historical places will not take care of history. It will need finding age appropriate resources, doing research about the place and being able to explain it.
Same goes for reading, it needs scientific approach and progresion. We did it, and by the age of 7, we could read Harry Potter series 8 times. Same goes for camping etc.

I am going to be dad soon, i am having same thought process , I started researching about the new ways of upbringing, certainly it starts with braking sterotyiping and make the learning process enjoyable and natural. Theoretically this plan is superb until we as a partents gives enough time to kids, be around them... For joined families it's manageable but I am wondering how will office going couples gonna live this dream.

it's not the parents' job to educate a child, you have to find a guru for your child, If parents look after their child they will become Shishupal(शिशु को पालने वाला ) of mahabharat who was anti krishna. but i am glad that people have atleast started to think rationally, only thing which has be done is giving parents a right direction.

Homeschooling your kids will develop better understanding of nature(like physics, maths, chemistry ,astronomy ,biology, practical farming field rather than learning only the definition and theory doing some science practical and much more beyond this) and society(like family gathering, visiting various places, learning from their parents how to respect elders because parents are their role model what parents are doing they will do in future.)
