MGB GT - Bicester Breakdown

- Hello! It has been a while since my last video, again busy with non-car stuff including a house move but I did go on a little adventure to Bicester Heritage for another Sunday Scramble in the MGB GT. I joined the 'Scramblers' club that they run www.wearescramblers.com and opted for their premium membership which entitled me to free tickets to a talk featuring some Le Mans legends as well as some other perks. However, I had a mishap on the way back to my campsite but all was well in the end and it was another great Scramble on the Sunday!

Great to see you back in action, I'm hoping to make it to the October Scrambler in the Triumph Stag, Cheer Bob
Thought for a moment I thought you was going to have to rely on the wheelbarrow to show, and get you home ;-)

Thanks!! Still unsure about the Gaydon event as it’s only a week after the Goodwood Revival and I might have used up my ‘stuff that I want to do credits’ issued by my wife by then 🤣
Glad to see you back with the MGB, would love to see how the XK8 is going as sorely tempted myself.. apart from the fuel price, I need a man maths session with my self!

Enjoyed the video. The GT is looking good. Just wondering why you didn’t use the choke for the first start. Normally I would always use the choke for first start of the day especially when battery might be down.
Haha I just forgot to put it on 🙈 plus it doesn’t usually make a big difference on a Weber carb in warmer weather but it was a bit chilly this particular morning a month or so ago. On the SUs I agree it makes a big difference and often can start with barely a turn on the starter motor, often wonder if I should go back to them but this is how the car came to me and I like the sound the Weber makes….. hmmm decisions! I enjoyed the video, I'm glad you've managed to fix your MGB. There is a good selection of cars there. What are the wheels on your MG? are they minilites? I recently a bought a MGB Roadster with wires which I would like to change and thought your wheels look good. Looking forward to your next video.👍
Thanks Philip! The wheels are minilite replicas that I got from the MGB Hive. They’re the 15 inch version and came with tyres fitted as a package and wasn’t too expensive compared to replacement wire wheels. One thing I will say though is that the ‘knock on’ centres are prone to corrosion it seems, so if using in dry weather and storing in a garage you’ll be fine otherwise you might need to think about some sort of protection. It’s too late for mine now and it polishes up ok but they don’t look as nice as the day I got them which is a shame!

Yes could be! Only basic stuff like spare fanbelt, spark plugs, distributor bits, hose clamps tools etc 👍
