    My favorite video of Harry's was the time he brought his Rolls Royce to the Arctic Circle.

      Yep that was a great one! I’m a fan of most of his trips abroad even the off road motorcycling ones!

    Not a fast car but it makes all the right noises and puts a smile on your face. Isn't that what driving a classic is all about? Well done.

      Thanks! Yes totally right, not fast but no modern car gives you the same feeling at 40 mph 🤣

    Your MGB sounded superb, much nicer than many a 'supercar' that Harry drives.

    lol I did the exact same thing in my MX-5 a couple of years ago, I live not too far from this area so it was a fun challange, the road is the B4437 to Charlbury. Thanks for another great video :).

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice! Good little road to blast along isn’t it?! I had no idea what the road was or where it went so thanks for that 🤣 at least I’ll be able to find it again now haha!

    Brilliant drive, hope the MGs fine after that spirited drive😁, such a great route and a very honest video as they say, great to see you enjoying the lovely MG as always and sharing with us the fun of the drive, the laughs and bumps etc, brilliant. We'll have to be calling you Harry II next😀.
    Hope you're well. Andrew.

      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Andrew! Yes it was a lot of fun! I’m pleased to say the MG was no worse for wear afterwards which was just as well as it was a 90 mile trip home 🤣

    It might interest you to know, if you haven't already, that Harry himself did a review on an MGB LE, a very rare model.

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep saw that! It was interesting that one as it was an April fools joke that seemed to go over most peoples heads! It’s a frontline LE50 he reviews which is a modern resto mod with Mazda MX5 engine and loads of modern upgrades, amazing car though!

    Maybe your MG is a little worn like mine, or rather, has patina! But, like a comfy pair of fireside slippers after a hard day… familiar and irreplaceable 😁 Great video, thanks 👍

    Hi Mark- and thx again for a really entertaining BGT drive! always surprised how different yours sounds from the one I had, that big Weber carb sure changes the intake note compared to the 2 SU HIF4s with individual air cleaners I ran. the MB aquitted herself very well, as expected, of course! somewhere along my "standard car route" there are indeed some S-bends too, great fun with the Corvette and, of course, the XK8.

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Wolf! Yep was fun driving this route in the MG, the XK8 would have been fun too but all too easy to reach the speed limit🤣 you’re right about the sound with the Weber, definitely different to the twin SUs, would like to hear back to back one day to see which I prefer 🤔 Thanks for the comment, sounds like you have a nice route to play on 😎👍

    Reminds me of my 1972 B drove it from Johannesburg to Durban a few times. I loved that car, but sadly it rotted and had to let it go. Great cars. Enjoy it!

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yes sadly that’s what tends to happen to these cars if you use them 🤣, only a matter of time before mine needs a thorough sorting again!

    Very familiar with Harry's playground having stayed in Condicote (just the other side of Stow) for a year. The Hill in Burford has never been so free from coachloads of foreign tourists!

      Ah nice! Great countryside to explore from what I witnessed but quite a bit of traffic being the weekend!

    Another great watch Mark, last time i was down there I did the same (ish) route in my Z4 M coupe and it was a fab drive.. I tried a similar route near me last week through the Trough of Bowland and up into the Lake District with the MG. but it was absolutely clogged with the bicycle brigade, so I spent most of my time crawling along behind them.
    Beautiful scenery but the packs of two wheeled Mamil (middle aged men in lycra) is starting to make me a touch nervous
    Your engine sounded great under acceleration as well!!

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Andy, yeah nice drive but lots of cyclists at the weekend, it’s the same locally as well. Nothing against them but I do question the appeal of cycling on these roads when it can be a bit dangerous, plus the cringe factor of Lycra cycling gear 🤣

    I say bumps, what i really mean is the near grounding and tyre rubbing experiences😃, great fun, must try that route when im over that way next, such a beautiful part of the country.

    I thought it was a Sunday with the cyclists about..
    MG sounds good, the gear lever makes the same whizzing sound as mine.. lol.. I've tried replacing the nylon bush on the bottom of the lever which is an easy job, but didn't cure the sound.. Minor wear in an old gearbox I suspect..
    Im loving watching Harry's videos on the cars he's having restored at the moment.. the Lancia & Jaguar XJCV12...

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep I think the whizzing gearbox noise is just part of the experience 🤣 yes I love seeing the progress on the Jag and Lancia, if only pockets were deep enough to follow suit! Thanks for the comment!

    HI Mark, You looked like you really enjoyed driving your MGB on Harry's roads, never been into MGs that much preferring my Jaguars, but maybe I am missing something as it performed very well and certainty put a smile on your face, shame about the cyclists and slow traffic never seems to be there when Harry drives those roads! Thanks for another great video.

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers John! Yep had a great time buzzing along there, I’ve mentioned it in other videos but the XK8 and MGB tick slightly different boxes for me, the MGB is a fun little car for this sort of thing, the XK8 would be fun too but slightly less engaging and definitely easier to break the speed limit 🤣 I know what I’d prefer on the 90 mile trip back though!

    • @granblogismo

      Haha! Lol can you imagine? It would be THE BEST! I think the biggest problem if that happened would be getting me to leave 🤣

  • @steamwally
    @steamwally 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Harry must pick his times well to drive those roads...
    Might as well have a blanket 40mph speedlimit sometimes!

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes indeed! I think he may have the luxury of doing this sort of thing in the week when it’s quiet and less bicycles/horse boxes/ Sunday drivers 🤣 still a nice drive though, glad I did a few runs!

  • @mauricedhoore3610
    @mauricedhoore3610 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Mark, being a fan of Harry's garage myself, it would be great fun you make an appointment with him to make a review of your MGB together on that wonderful road over there !

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha that would be great but I think my ropey old MG might not pique his interest 🤣 maybe the Esprit S2 would be of interest if he wanted to compare to his Turbo Esprit….. just a matter of finishing it now haha!

    • @mauricedhoore3610
      @mauricedhoore3610 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed, maybe a comparison in 007 style, like in The spy who loved me, however that was an S1..😀

    Mark, We haven't seen much of you for a month or so....whats up??? BTW, watching you downshift, you don't seem to double declutch...do you??? I also sold my '99 BRG XK8 coupe for the most unbelievable '97 XK8 conv in Carnival red.....Its a story that you will never believe.....

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Richard, yes a bit of an unexpected break over a busy couple of months but hoping to be back soon, sounds interesting about your XK8 update! Carnival red convertible is what John Dee had wasn’t it? Regarding double declutch, I only do it into first (unless at standstill) as the other gears are synchronised but I probably should be a bit more sympathetic to the ageing gearbox! Sometimes do a cheeky heel and toe as the pedals are well spaced for that but with varying success 🤣

      @@granblogismo Assuming the tappets are set, and the mixture and timing are good I would begin to suspect the condenser (but I’m sure you’re on electronic ignition) or possibly plugs.

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Martin I still hadn’t/haven’t had a chance to sort the tappets etc as this trip to Bicester and Oxfordshire was half way through some servicing work, I’m sure it is tappets or something just need to find a spare hour or two to sort it out 🤣

    Narrow road blind hills and turns full of people on bikes. Bit scary how many get hit per year? Drove that area long time ago in Morgan. Scary then now worse.

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it’s getting worse all over the place especially at weekends. At least in the MG I’m never really going fast enough to not be able to stop in time but folks in really quick stuff run a greater risk I think. No idea how many people get hit but I doubt it’s zero.

    • @granblogismo
      @granblogismo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would have been a good choice, especially for the 180 mile round trip but I was at a pre-1990 car show prior to this in the same area which is why I was in the MGB
