    E-power is essentially an EV Drivetrain with a petrol engine to charge the battery. There are no gears hence why its so smooth. There is Zero direct link from the engine to the wheels.

    Top review as ever Nobby. That's some bus I have say. I will say that whilst yes I know it's a heavy car 7-8l/100km or roughly 35-40mpg for us Northern Ireland natives isn't that great for a supposedly economic hybrid. I don't know what mpg the e power Qashqai does, in theory as it's lighter it should be better but I have heard it coming in for criticism based on the same ie it's not as economical as is being made out. As the price of diesel here in the North is about 25-28p per litre more expensive, if at some stage I was looking at a hybrid SUV and preferably a non plug in version as I do alot f motorway travelling I'd have to say the Nissan range hasn't convinced me. Have you any plans to review the new Renault Austral? Would be keen to hear your thoughts if and when you do as I like your reviews as they're very in depth. Also one other thing, try include the equivalent figures for mpg for the vehicles for us living in the North/UK as its not a big job to convert it online but handy if it's already mentioned on the screen. Keep up the good work!

    I drove this as a rental. It was averaging 7.2L/100km. My 8 year old dinosaur of a diesel A6 avant still average 5.2L/100km. I don't see how it's more environmentally friendly than the old diesel.

    Not sure it is going the right way with electric drive trains. 7 to 8 Litres/100klm is very poor. I was expecting the fuel economy to be very low. Mazda CX60 3.3 litre diesel 5.4 ltrs/100 klm.??

    • @johnwet6969

      th-cam.com/video/lsjqyK673ZI/w-d-xo.html Here you have 4,8/100 at the end of the trip. So it depends.

    Enjoyed the review as always Mark but in terms of the fuel economy, I’m in a Renault Koleous (which is essentially the same car) in a 1.6L diesel. Granted it wouldn’t pull you out of bed but it’s doing 5.2L/100km on my 130km round trip commute.
    Ok, petrol is nearly 20c/l cheaper at the mo, but there’s a fair oul difference in the two fuel economy wise.

      @johnwet6969 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      th-cam.com/video/lsjqyK673ZI/w-d-xo.html Here he finished with 4,8/100.

      Does it have 213hp? Does it do 0-100 in 7 seconds? Does it have e-4orce? Is it as silent? As Luxurious? Nah, it's not.

    • @GerryGavin
      @GerryGavin ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NameNaameNameeNaamee No, it does not. However, if it’s been sold as a more environmentally conscious option/fuel efficient option, is it meeting the criteria?as regards luxurious, that’s a matter of opinion.

    • @NameNaameNameeNaamee
      @NameNaameNameeNaamee ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@GerryGavin Oh Yes. By design, this system hinges on the battery staying within a certain range for this system to not get out of ballance. That entails, that the generator will be running at certain times and have way higher loads than it would have with a traditional ICE car just driving in the very same scenario. That might make it seem inefficient if you just drive it briefly. But there are tons of videos out there from japan, in which you can clearly see that this system over the course of a longer trip (or a full tank) will be utterly more efficient than any diesel of comparable power. In day to day driving, there will be driving scenarios, in which this car is "just" as efficient as a strong Diesel in terms of consumption (while still being a lot cheaper, cleaner, more silent and comfortable by the way). But there will also be scenarios in which this car will be way more efficient than any traditional ICE car of the same dimensions and features. You can drive this car in the city with 3l/100km. This is a good concept. By design a middle step, but a much needed one. Not everyone has a charger at home, and of those, the majority doesn't have the funds to buy a long range EV which would enable you to only use public charging. I am not saying that this is better than an EV, it's not. If you can afford an EV, get an EV. Fossil fuels s*ck. But there is LOTS of application for a car like this, and tradional ICE cars don't hold a candle against this. I've been driving Diesel for the better part of my life and loved it, but every technology has a time and place. Diesel engines don't belong into cars anymore. This way of propulsion has been dying for a decade now, choked by iteration after iteration of emissions standards. And with each step, it got more clear that the Diesel can be made cleaner, but get's worse with every step. There was a time where Diesel had loads of power and were reasonably cultivated in terms of NVH. Modern Diesels are loud, rattling, and by comparison lame engines. And they still are dirtier than any other motor out there. And if you do not see that, you really should go out there and see what other means of propulsion can offer you. And THEN we can talk.

    Overall nice looking car, interior looks very upmarket.
    But I don't see the point of this complex tech, when the engine is no more economical than if it was driving the wheels itself.
    It looks like complexity for the sake of it, and just to be different.
    Like the CVT transmissions in the older model, I think this is going to work against it in terms of sales.
    Sensible buyers of vehicles like this are nervous of complex tech.
    I'll stick with my G30 520D mSport.
