Every new generation of BMW models in the last decade has been a step back from a design perspective, both inside and outside. Such a pitty because still among the best cars to drive.
The shape is kinda like a weird stretched shoe, feels like the bonnet takes up over half the length of the car from the side profile? Slowly morphing into an estate (which is no bad thing)

No need to buy an X5? X5 is one of the most beautiful BMW's made, this however idk what is? It has like 3 separate proportion stories going on at once, rear and front have no conection to each other.
TBH I’ll be interested to see how it sells. The current X3 is BMWs best selling. IMO however BMW have made a mistake with this design, although a few women friends say it’s lovely, I disagree! But as a current X3 owner nearing replacement this new X3 will definetly not be in my short list irrespective of the price. The X5 is too much of a stretch so it’ll be a change of marque for me.

you'd be crazy to consider an X3. I've owned an X4 (which is essentially an X3) and moved to X5 recently. There is no comparing them, X5 is just better in every aspect you can think of.
The exterior looks nice but the interior is cheap looking and far from premium. Lots of hard plastic and the door pulls are a disgrace for a car of this price. I am surprised you didn’t mention this Nobby as lots of other reviewers have.
I've been reading a lot of comments from this and other channels regarding the looks of the 2025 BMW X3. The consensus is that it is awful. While I won't go quite that far I would have to say the last generation did look much better. The thing about people commenting on TH-cam is that nobody really knows how many commenting are actually potential customers. There’s outrage and there’s sales figures and they are entirely independent of each other…
I was trying to have an open mind looking at this BUT I gotta say the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 interior and exterior for that matter are way better looking. More luxurious looking and feel.
The agenda in this new X3 iteration was purely and obviously down to cost saving. It a soulless, slab sided and feature less design which is a downgrade from the previous G01 in my opinion. I do not see this car being as popular as the previous model and in no way will it become a best seller at the price point it is being sold. It is already being discounted at dealers which is previously unheard of on new BMW’s and PCP finance rates are also low which indicates that pre order sales are low. I foresee bigger discounts in the foreseeable future for this model and specification changes at the point of LCi.

Dislikes - the UGLY grill design on the 2.0L base model, too much hard plastics in the interior, which really cheapens this X3 model, horrible internal plastic door latches and associated control panel. The handles should have been aluminium. How many years until those flimsy handles break? Not enough soft touch surfaces on the dash and doors. Hideous high maintenance (optional) fabric on the dash and doors. Not enough bolstering on the rear seat. These seats are only a minor improvement on the terrible park bench rear seat in the previous model X3. DRL headlight design, is simply not reflective of the distinctive BMW DNA. Likes - overall body design. Awesome looking DRL grill, especially at night. Panoramic sunroof. The retention of Merino leather as an option. The exquisite B58 6 pot in the M50 model. The silky smooth ZR transmission.
The panoramic roof can't open though, where's the functionality - what's the point? I really don't think BMW thought this design language through.. or they did but figured it would sell anyways.
As a German, it's honestly embarrassing what our manufacturers are putting out these days-plastic monstrosities. The new X3 is a downgrade from the last model.
