Today we'll show you the lineup of tractors we have at the shop (some for sale, some sold). The idea is to expose you to a lot of models you may not get exposed to otherwise. We'll do a quick overview of each model and the features it comes with, what we like and what we don't. We've got a lot of Kioti, as well as some John Deere and Kubota.
Good Works Tractors is happy to be sponsored by Rim Guard Solutions! This is perhaps the most well-known ballast brand on the market today. Rim Guard goes right inside your tires, so it's out of the way, it doesn't freeze, and doesn't corrode. It's made from natural materials, so it's safe around livestock and pets if it spills out. Rim Guard liquid ballast adds more weight to the back side of your tractor improving stability, loader performance, and power to the ground. Find your closest dealer at bit.ly/3d0whX0

Kioti has a very nice cab. My problem with Deere is that their prices are absolutely insane. If they are going to be 20-40% more, then that better come with a whole lotta extra benefits. My Deere dealers never have parts, they don’t have good techs anymore, long turn around times, and premium prices and parts and labor. Turns out plenty of people will buy tractors other than Deere or Kubota. Kioti is quality.

So true about the lightly used tractors! We got a 2021 3046R a couple months ago, with 320R loader, deck, 3rd function, wet tires + wheel weights, and 2 separate aftermarket rear remotes, and right at 300 hours on it, for right around $40k OTD. A brand new one would have been $60K OTD with that on it.
This tractor is in addition to a 5320 weve had for years, and while it's on the small side for some things we do, its really too big for a lot of things on a tree farm. The 3046R, frankly, ended up being a much more serious tractor than i was anticipating, in addition to how maneuverable it is! Very happy with it!

    Hello Shannon,
Have you looked at the TYM tractors. I've looked at all the different brands of tractors for over two years before I saw a TYM T264 on marketplace , and then I watched every TH-cam video on the T264. It was Tony's Tractor Adventures that sold me on getting the T264. It is overbuilt for its size. I also messaged the dealer many times just to make sure that it wasn't a scam. The dealer is in Alpena Michigan, I drove 4 hours to look at the tractor, and after test, driving it and talking more with the dealer, I bought the T264 with a loader and backhoe. It would be nice to have a TYM dealer closer to Plainwell. I've had since October of 2022, and I love it. The T264 does everything I need it to do. Love the videos. Keep up the good work, and God bless.

My understanding is JD doesn't make very many models of tractor themselves anymore, I believe they only make the really big AG tractors for themselves , almost everything else in their line is re-badged from "partner" manufacturers in China or Korea.. When I was looking for a small reliable tractor to blow out driveways I checked out Kioti, Deere and Kubota. I went with a BX2380 with a commercial front blower and rear blade. We added a Tektite cab with heat after freezing the first few snowstorms. I looked at the 1025 but the the blower was terrible. It had a cable that was wrapped around the chute to turn the chute! The augers weren’t serrated and with one of my JD lawn tractors the blower bounced around when it hit the city plow pile! The serrations make a huge difference! The Kubota had hydraulic chute rotation and a hydraulic deflector. I also wanted a cab that was a must when it’s -20 at 6am. I don’t understand why people have trouble with the Treddle pedal. My JD X310 had side by side pedals and I looked down to see which one I was on with my big boots. On my BX2380 I don’t even have to look down my heel finds the treadle pedal super easy! I don’t regret buying the BX2380 it’s been fantastic and it’s just the right size when working around garages and buildings! Glad to see you back selling because buyers now have a trustworthy place to buy from. Keep up the good work. Oh the BX2380 sure didn’t get much work this winter!

How tall are you?? I am 6'4" and when sitting at a standard seat height. The closer the knee comes to your chest when seated, the harder it is to rock the ankle. I can actually get leg cramps from rocking the peddle while mowing or moving dirt where lots of forward/reverse is being done. Love my Kubotas, but the pedal design needs tossed.👍

Courtney, I looked long and hard before I bought my Kioti CS2520. I have a New Holland dealer a quarter mile away and a John Deere dealer a half mile away from the end of my driveway. I bought the Kioti for a number of reasons. The CS2520 beat the pants off the JD. 1025 and the New Holland (additonally, the NH dealer had nothing without a cab. It would be destroyed by my trees). The difference in cost was astounding. I purchased my Kioti with Tractor, FEL and mower deck for substantially less than JD wanted for just the tractor. Plus, my dealer is amazing. They are an AG dealer and needed something in the SCUT and CUT range that CASE didn't offer. Additionally, my salesman bought the same tractor, exactly equipped for the same purpose as mine. He and the owner sold me. Family owned (like you) and has been in the farm equipment business since 1911.

Mahindra is trash.... poor welds mostly.... also shitty hydraulic parts. I wound up replacing nearly all hydraulic lines and couplers on mine in less than 5 years, and it was all undersized, so when I replaced it with standard ID hydraulic lines and couplers, the performances much better until the hydraulic pump spun a bearing and had to be rebuilt. Oh and the electrical work in Mahindras is terrible too.... I tried warrantying several of my problems, and it was like talking to a wall, especially about the welds rusting through the paint all over the machine. You could tell the loader was made by another company or in another plant as the paint did not fade like the tractor's paint did, and the loader's welds were not bubbling rust up through the paint like the tractor's welds had. Mahindra is trash...

Agree, horsepower needs are a fickle notion. The hardest working tractor on our farm, and we had much bigger machines for dragging a five bottom plow, was a 35hp Ferguson TO35 from 1955. Ran augers and elevators, manure spreader, square baler, brush hogging, rakes, hay wagon shuffle, and more. I learned to drive on that tractor. I still use that same tractor with a two bottom plow and snow blade these days.

Looked at the Kioti's and Deere, but they both couldn't come close to the price and the Bobcat dealer is 3 miles away from me. I would've gone with the Kioti if they weren't 30-45 minutes away, had an awesome experience talking with their sales team- but again, the price was 3-4k more for the equivalent tractor.
As for Deere, I have never heard a good thing from the multiple AG Pro dealers in my surrounding area. Deere reminds me of Apple- they look good but with a lot of proprietary componets and expensive. Resale is there but unless I need a bigger machine for 3 acres, I plan on keeping this until it dies.

In the end the Massey Ferguson GC 1723E won out because of cost for a similar setup. It's also not completely covered in plastic like the John Deere is. Because the Massey Ferguson dealer also sells Kioti I asked about those while we were there but he didn't have any subcompacts in stock at the time.
I considered Kubota as well because my father has a little BX with a snow blower and mower deck for maintaining his properties. But their stupid rocker petal put me off. My father loves his little BX but he also said he dislikes the rocker petal. So far the only clunky-ness I've encountered on my Massey is the placement of the 3-point control level which sits under my right thigh. I'd say that's the worst of it for me. I'm slowly working up to 50 hours, once I'm there I can let the dealer know and they'll do a full fluid change. After that I'll be changing all the fluids myself once the time comes. :)

I just hope it works out for you IF you go to sell it some day. My best friend has a low hour MF 1734 with a loader, pallet forks and a rear remote in mint condition and can't even get anyone to call and make an offer or come look at it. Been on the market since November. If that was a Kubota or JD, I don't think it would have lasted two weeks. The L3560 he replaced the Massey with was on the market four days.

@@richardhertz8996 Selling it wasn't on my list of concerns when I got it and it still isn't. I got it so I could get more yard work done. There's several houses around my area that have a little Massey just like mine who also use them for yard work.
Funny enough Kubota and John Deere don't sell any quicker than Massey's do around here. If someone is a John Deere or Kubota lover they're only going to buy those and nothing else. Others will find a better deal regardless of brand and buy that instead. :)

@@shanedevon147 It's a great machine and has been very useful. Especially when it comes to carrying a bunch of bags of mulch or chicken feed. I'd eventually like to get a carry-all frame for the back of mine so I can haul more bags around.

Tractors hold value. If you plan to keep for the long haul, resale doesn’t matter. My grandfather paid $10,850 in 1982 for a new 4wd Ford 1700 tractor with loader. I’m still running that tractor and could probably sell it for about the same (or higher) price today. I could use a bigger tractor (under 6ft overall width and about 3,500lb base weight would be ideal), but that Ford won’t go anywhere if I buy a new tractor. I learned how to operate a tractor on that machine. The thing I don’t like about new machines are all the electronic controls. More to break and/or troubleshoot. I like simple mechanical fuel injection (instead of these new common rail direct injection engines).

Something that would be interesting to see someone go over is that the 3e loader geometry is quite different, it's made for tight quarters and fast cycle times. The specs at the ground and lower are comparable to 2R iirc, it's just the lift to full height rating is lower as the cycle time is almost 1 second faster. The bucket is also very close to the front end and the overall outside turning circle I think is much smaller. Would be interesting to see a bigger TH-cam channel to actually dig into the engineering a bit more, understand if that's not here though

I’ve have the opportunity to have a LS with side by side pedals and then my BX with treadle, I have found that using the 3 point snow blower is easier on the Kubota because I can sit sideways on the seat and press down to go backwards. I’m a short dude so reaching for the side by side setup is a little more difficult for me.
Also the LS came into my life after the BX and it’s funny how long it took to retrain my muscle memory 😂

One of those Kioti tractors the same size will lift more than 880lbs. Add a box blade for a counter weight, grab the log and curl/lower onto another and should be good for twice that. Please note the rear wheels will most likely not be on the ground. Just have to get it off the ground and punch it to the truck. Makes turning and terrain earn your money.

Product investigation idea for your subcompact market. For 15 or 25 gallon sprayers it seems like there should be booms for loader mounts. I don't want to buy a PTO sprayer or 30 gallon trailer sprayer in case I can't keep it in two years(like if I move). It seems to me that an ATV boom sprayer could be mounted in the loader to spray lawns for mosquitos, fleas, mites, termites... The synthetic chemicals are cheap at $0.14 per gallon mixed & the dog, chicken, & kitchen safe chemical costs $1.40 per mixed gallon. A loader mount would allow the spray to be very low to the ground without breaking your neck to check on clearances.

The kiotis (my father in law owns one) has far lesser build quality also the “twin touch” pedals are consistently sticking and not returning to the neutral position.. also are far louder than the comparable models in Deere and Kubota. Definitely kioti is a decent tractor but 3rd place behind Deere and Kubota
    The Deere units are nice.
Choose dealer support, but like he said all of the above are reliable and most tractor owners do their own maintenance so do you even need dealer support?

Perhaps a short video (or a TH-cam short) explaining why the sudden drop off in content could be a good idea? Not an apology, but something to say "hey, this is what's happened, why you stopped making videos, and the results of that."
