Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in seven billion.

This was her 2nd year one the show You Are Super - a "Champions" edition for previous winners and finalists (she won the previous year). This was a singing competition for orphaned and disadvantaged children. If you like her stage presence and that tribal sound you should listen to Rechenka (The River) which she sang the previous year at age 14. This cover of Chris Isaak’s classic, really demonstrates that Diana Ankudinova has a true contralto sound, which is a very rare female voice type. In particular, her tone quality, timbre, roundness, fullness, and depth of her sound, plus her resonance further define her as a "dramatic contralto", which is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types and for someone as young as Diana to already demonstrate these abilities is extraordinary if not unheard of! Diana was not happy with her higher vocal range and really concentrated on improving it with her voice teacher, which can be heard when you listen to her cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley. Also, Diana is a polyphonic singer which in itself is an extremely rare talent for someone so young to have mastered. Polyphonic singing is a vocal technique that creates two, sometimes three different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and undertones which can make it sound like two different voices at the same time. This polyphonic sound is why some people think she is using a voice synthesizer to manipulate her sound, or there's another voice singing off stage, or she is lip-syncing over a prerecorded track. At the age of 5 she was still traumatized and unable to speak properly. Yes, this was 15yo Diana singing in an amazing Russian project "You're Super" for abandoned/disadvantaged children because, as you know, Diana spent almost 2 years in an orphanage when she was 3yo. She is a natural dramatic contralto which is rare in females but exceptionally rare in someone so young! Igor Krutoy (a famous (DIMASH?) composer/producer) gifted Diana an apartment in Moscow where she still lives. Diana has been performing on stage since she was 6yo, just a little over a year after she started singing! Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in seven billion.

Rosalie, as your audience may or may not know, Diana Ankudinova was only 15 when this performance of "Wicked Game" took place during the 2019 season of a talent show called “You Are Super”. This cover of Chris Isaak’s classic, really demonstrates that Diana Ankudinova has a true contralto sound, which is a very rare female voice type. In particular, her tone quality, timbre, roundness, fullness, and depth of her sound, plus her resonance further define her as a "dramatic contralto", which is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types and for someone as young as Diana to already demonstrate these abilities is extraordinary if not unheard of! Diana was not happy with her higher vocal range and really concentrated on improving it with her voice teacher, which can be heard when you listen to her cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley.
Also, Diana is a polyphonic singer which in itself is an extremely rare talent for someone so young to have mastered. Polyphonic singing is a vocal technique that creates two, sometimes three different tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and undertones which can make it sound like two different voices at the same time. This polyphonic sound is why some people think she is using a voice synthesizer to manipulate her sound, or there's another voice singing off stage, or she is lip-syncing over a prerecorded track. There is no electronic vocal manipulation of her voice going on at all. What you are hearing is all Diana Ankudinova.
To get a better idea of Diana's vocal progression, I recommend you listen to the following performances because I think those listed below are the best representation of her vocal progression and I would recommend them in the following order:

Now you need to hear her at 14 do Rechenka a reworking of a traditional folk song .... as dramatic as a young Kate Bush but with her own unique vocal spectrum.... If you want to hear her low and dark sound try Blizzard .. for absolute emotional power try her first adult competition performance of the Dark minor key version of Carn't help falling in love.
She has had to largely organise her own stage performances.. so getting full proffesional stage production and support is
still something she relatively new to.
Her greatest emotional connection at one point was with the song Human original by Rag and Bone man.. she sings as low at times... but with a wild west twist...
She's not afraid to lean into her yodelling/yoiking breaks.. or bend glissando's .. shes still growing and developing with every new performance. What she's best recognised for is her shamanistic princess performances but shes grown into a very bright and level headed young woman with her own styles and values. Shes still very much a family girl and her Adoptive mother and older sister are her rocks..

Diana Ankudinova is a prodigy, much like Angelina Jordan, she's at that rare of a level. Besides her obvious amazing vocal and performing talent though, she also performs in many different languages besides Russian and English.
