My son has been watching you for years now, I have been watching you for about a year now. My son has a 944 porch, so we love talking about the porch videos. Keep them coming.
38 years old I gotta say that after watching this video I went and looked at all my adjustable wrenchs and I have never even noticed the numbers on them mind blown
Using a table jack is the way to go for any of these air cooled Porsches going in or out of the car, you just have to remove the pins on the arms of the table jack to be able to clear the bumper
Adam I enjoy seeing your approach to new projects and how similar it is to my own way of taking on a new project. I loved seeing you put the bolts back after removing them. Its my favorite way to not lose parts. It's fun to see a project that your taking your time on and doing it yourself. I can't want to see the finished product!
Seeing how people you so-rounded yourself with react to an oil spill in a controlled environment that I know won’t contaminate anything makes me have allot more respect for you and your team. I enjoy watching you getting involved in the build of your cars. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Most people dont know that about adjustable wrenches because most people dont have them with measurements on the side. Def a great tip though for those that have the measuring lines on the side of their adjustable wrenches.
You bring up your back problems. I went through a very bad back period. It ended up being hip problems caused by lack of arch support. Started working on my arches and doing hip stretches and resistance moves. Cleared it all up. I hope you see this and give it a try. I know how terrible it can make basic living.
The one I use and the one in this video is the channel lock brand. First thing I’d do is rip off the blue rubber handle. It eventually slips off and always at the worst time
I piece of cardboard folded would redirect the oil instead of hitting the arm. My jeeps skid plates have a hole for oil changes that is in horrible alignment. This works
Helpful tip, remove flexplate to comverter hardware before pulling the trans off to avoid fluid spilling. The converter will stay on the input shaft of the trans
Instead of sitting there jacking the cherry picker for 30 minutes. You can pull/push the arm up and hold it and wait 30 seconds for the fluid to catch up. Then youre ready to use it!
Something I do when draining oil out of places where it is going to go every where; is to put a flattened cardboard box or folded up blue shop towels and make a funnel/chute.
The blue plastic only messed up the R34 clearcoat from it being too fresh and not fully cured. I spray clear and I’ve messed up clear with that stuff, it takes a long time to cure 100%. I would definitely feel comfortable putting the blue plastic on the Porsche
This is going to be fun. Brings back memories of buying a used KX 250 that was not up to par and stripped it down to the bare frame and stared from a clean blank slate. Piece by piece I made that thing like new. It was 5 to 10 years older than anything my riding buds had, but looked, ran, and performed better than anything they had. Took my time over the whole winter and enjoyed every minute of it. Self accomplishment. Nothing better.
LZ so it begins even though you said it's staying stock I have a hard time believing that with you leaving anything stock and I say go for it all out you might as well enjoy it and as always keep up the great work 👍
Hey Adam. Funny thing. I had a 90 gtst skyline, it had a turbo badge from the 911 of the same year. It was placed on the right side just under the spoiler. Actually looked pretty neat!!
2:19 out of the conversation..and into the mindset of a wanna..we all look into the distance and ignore everything but that little blue car.😅 so much fun.
Tip from an European, when draining the oil tank you can use a transmission jack under the wheel next to the tank to support the car and push that lift arm out of the way.
OK, wait a minute! Adam calls himself “not a mechanic!” He just removed the entire engine out of a German-made car, a rear engine sports car. I couldn’t even change the oil on that thing. Adam you need to quit selling yourself short dude, you are a mechanic and probably one of the better ones on TH-cam. Honestly this is the first time I’ve ever commented on one of your videos. I am thoroughly enjoying the 964 content. You need to do more like this especially with you wrenching
@@ButteredUpToasthe will have all the time in the world… and this will be the best time for him to do anything. the newborn stage is the easiest as they literally just eat and sleep. Hardest part is the night feedings though
Part of my job is to open crates. You did a perfectly fine job. The goal is to get what’s inside without damaging it. Looks like you succeeded just fine.
There's a tool called a lead funnel that is formable to a desired slope that i use daily for oil changes on QX60s. It would come in handy for situations like the lift being in the way, or not wanting oil on the frame of a vehicle. It was like 20 bucks at the time i bought it, probably cheaper by now but its HELLA worth it.
The way your buddy sent you a paragraph reminds me how I did a bmw z3 n54 6 speed swap on my m20 bmw e30. People wanted to know but there wasn't a straight forward way, a lot of other vehicles were involved lol
Adam, not sure you'll see this or respond, but really curious about what headers/exhaust you're going to run on this? Keep up the good work. My Dad is an aircooled 911 mechanic of 35 yrs, cool to see you and your thoughts as you do your first aircooled engine Pull. :) thanks for taking us all along on your build journey.
He needs to add a couple of vw Beatles to the channel. We used to have motor pull competitions, some of the teams could pull the motor in just over a minute. They use a body jack. The motor just sits on a block, everything gets disconnected and the rear of the body is jacked up off the engine and led car is just wheeled forward. The original air cooled engines. The early Porsches and they shared a lot of parts. Hoping that the LZ media team comes out with some calendars. A car calendar and a lzmfg/drifthq staff shirtless calendar, where’s the beef cake😂.
Hey Adam, I talk to Sean booth at Sam’s club today I told him about a couple spots I can give you better details about a road many people don’t really know about. If you want to know just reach out to me. And I’ll give you full details on it
Jimmy Oaks redone his porches engine. Snd can probably tell you everything that he done. He also put his on a link and added link sensors so he could monitor things
This is the first video of yours I've seen. On the intro I was just about to click off because you showed a torque converter leaking and I was just disappointed it was an auto. But I left it on for just a second longer and I found out you're doing a manual swap and now I'm watching the whole thing.
i hope its gets some nice 2024 tech.. bearings with super acurate tollerence, rings, pistons, lighter + stronger rods and a full carb rebuild and tune or aftermarket webbers and parts like and exhaust and stuff intake ect ect Keep all the original parts because they are special, but let that poor car breath and live life to it potential
I def am not the smartest at remembering what socket to use so the cressent has always been my nut/ bolt measuring tool. It sucks when you cant fit the cressent in a tight spot in the bay 😂

Sean saying Adam 20 times while fluid was pouring out the converter was the most helpful thing I’ve ever seen
Was looking for this lol. Bro had a gallon jug ready to go but just sat there 😂
That shit kinda pissed me off and it wasn’t even me he was talking too😂😂bros acting like a little trans fluid on the table is gonna hurt something
Sean can get so unbearably annoying sometimes I wish the dude would just chill.
Perfect way to communicate what is wrong...
@TheSoulFallen ive gotten used to it at this point but i see how it can be a lil much😂
Seeing you get this deep in a car felt like a pretty OG video. Dont let your guys keep you off the cars it's fun to see you wrench too!
Johan stepping back and letting adam work is my absolute favorite part.
Isnt Johan working on the Europe e36 ? Maybe thats why
Mike really is an elite cameraman with the back and forth banter
The best!
Absolutely love the color on this thing. Cant wait to see how it turns out.

Using a table jack is the way to go for any of these air cooled Porsches going in or out of the car, you just have to remove the pins on the arms of the table jack to be able to clear the bumper
Can't wait to see this thing finished, one of the best colors imo.

Adam LZ Great Video I'm glad you had a great time Manual Snapping your 964 Carrera 2 and I can't wait to see your First drive
i use that same adjustable at work everyday. i use it more to find the size of nuts/bolts than i do actually taking things apart with it.
Is there a brand you recommend?
The one I use and the one in this video is the channel lock brand. First thing I’d do is rip off the blue rubber handle. It eventually slips off and always at the worst time
I think it’s cool that they cared so much about spilling fluids. Means they care for their shop.
Love watching this "Thin Mint" series. While winging it is entertaining, you should really buy the Bentley manual for the 964.
I just started this video, but I have really been looking forward to this build.
I piece of cardboard folded would redirect the oil instead of hitting the arm.
My jeeps skid plates have a hole for oil changes that is in horrible alignment. This works
i would have just used a big funnel to redirect it
