I have been watching these gorillas for a while now. I marvel at their interactive caring attitude towards each other. I, too, would like a larger environment for them. The boys are growing quite rapidly and certainly Momotaro is quite large which I presume both Gentaro and Kintaro will also soon become large silverbacks. Gentri is such a kind caring mom and companion to Momotaro. Sorry to hear what horrors she went through that she felt so ostracized to the point of hurting herself in desperation. Glad to know that personnel removed her for her own safety which led to her having a better life. Thank you for caring for these marvelous created creatures from Heaven.

Momotaro is so very lucky to have wifey Genki, she 💯% respects him, never fusses to him, never gets in his way at feeding time, never gets his food/snacks at feeding time, stays away from his “area”, gives him plenty of space, never goes outside or inside first, just a real ideal gorilla lady. Definitely fate brought these 2 beastie’s together, from their hard pasts to a bright future!

Beautiful scenes on this video. Momotaro and Genki were meant to be a couple, and have a beautiful family. Momotaro changed for the better Genki's unstable life forever; Genki could get pregnant from Momotaro and motherhood brought peace, stability to her. She's an excellent mom, the best one can imagine: so sweet, protective, patient, loving. I have no doubts Momotaro is in love with her, the way he stares at her speaks volumes. I think the zoo would make a lot of money if they published how to be a mother after going through trauma from gorilla mom Genki's perspective. Genki is an excellent mother. I wish my mother was protective and attentive as Genki is with her baby boys.
@Kimberly Jaymes No, but I'm going to hunt for it. I saw a video of another troupe of gorillas trying to get in out of the rain. The women with their babies slowly made a run for it while protecting their babies. The bjg silver back was scared and bolted inside. It was funny.

There was a similar wound on Kintaro's back, right in the middle. Both wounds looked fresh to me.

I'm just wondering if the reason Genki's arm is hurt or injured because of the incident between Genki and Momotaro last month???
Momotaro got angry over some food that Genki had or was eating, and then Momotaro attacked Genki. I felt really bad for Genki. Momotaro didn't like brutally attack her or anything like that, but he did attack and ruffed her up a bit that's all, nothing major...
I hope she's ok?!

I would imagine they might consider it.. I'm sure it costs alot of money to do something like that...it sure would be nice for them to have more room...they looked so sad or bored much of the time..at least a half acre more or bigger...they can run some of that energy off..

I’m worried for Genki as well , she has lump/ Cyst on her face because of her teeth are bad , this is so sad they let it get this far . Now it’s infected, although they giving her antibiotic now , it should have never got that bad , they need to care for her teeth as well.
She's still breast feeding, so wright now they're probably giving her antibiotics

Genki lost her fingers due to her anxiety disorder. She chewed them off herself when during her younger years she was separated from her parents and sent to Ueno Zoo. She was born at the current facility, Kyoto City Zoo. At Ueno Zoo she received a great deal of attention from the Silverback which caused the female gorillas to harass and what humans deem as "bullying" Genki. She has always been considered a beautiful female gorilla compared to other females. Because of the negative treatment, she became anxious, neurotic and started self mutilating and also stopped eating. In an attempt to save her life, it was decided to bring her back to her original home since her father passed away and inbreeding couldn't occur. Since that time, she has thrived as the Queen of her original home at Kyoto. Momotaro was a young gorilla at Ueno whom Genki would become excited whenever she would see videos of him on the tv outside of their inner enclosure. Hence the decision to bring Momotaro to Kyoto. He was 11 years old when brought to Kyoto and the only Silverback able to impregnate her. True story. Genki is not pregnant now...her stomach is bloated from the gas that the grasses, etc, cause during digestion. She can't conceive until Kintaro is weaned and the time between births is normally 4-6 years.

Estoy muy preocupado por Genti y ese acceso q le ha salido en su cara esta en tratamiento ojala se ponga bien no debe parir mas esta muy adulta y el muy joven tan amorosa con sus hijos esa Gentaro ama a su hermano y mortifica mucho a su mama pero es muy simpatico como juega y quiere a Kintaro Momotaro se pone muy agresivo con ella a veces y la muerde duro como llora pobresita ella es mayor q el bella familia y buenos cuidadores felicidades

I see two sores on that same arm that had the scratch on it before. Is Gentaro hurting her with those branches? Does she let the gamekeepers check them out to see that they don't get infected?
They train them from a young age to present there arms, open there mouths and so on so they can check every day..... they play a lot and bound to get scrapes and scratches so they check so no infection

Your words are fine. I can understand most of what you say. I have subscribed. I didn't at first because I am being faithful to another gorilla family in American zoo. How ever I think I am now in love with another gorilla family too. It will be so sad when Gentaro is fully grown. I know he will get traded to another zoo far from Mom and family. But I also know this is important to keep a good blood line for gorilla population. It will hurt to see him go away from your videos.

Gentaro has been an adult for years now, but he's not a silverback yet. He's a bit overdue for a transfer to a bachelor group, because in the wild he would have been kicked out of the family group years ago. Unfortunately, gorillas cannot be moved from any zoos for now because of covid. When all that is over, he should be moved ASAP for the sake of his happiness and fulfillment. He has no important role in the family unit any longer, and I have seen videos of him looking distressed that his mother no longer grooms him. Luckily, he still pals around with his infant brother so no one is too lonely.

Momotaro is always so watchful and protective of his little family. But he doesn't have as much work as silver backs in larger troops. Those guys often are breaking up family scuffles.

Yes, that's what I think too, the cut on Kintaro's back looks like a bite, and when they play that's what they do, they bite the back, and arms, etc. Genki's cut, looks like the same thing, I really believe it was Gentaro. He's at that age, he's bored, and restless, he's soon going to have to leave the family! 😢
@@angeresists5493 Gentaro was being awful rough with baby Kintaro in a different video. He's actually years overdue for a transfer to a bachelor group, and I believe he seems a bit depressed having no real role in the family any longer.

Gentaro is almost of mating age. Talk is that they may mate him with Annie, or Laura. He is as restless as a teenager, hormones raging, and his horse playing sometimes goes too far. I love my playful, beautiful Gentaro but he has been going far, as of late. The other day, Genki Mama was tending to a bite on Kintaro's neck. Yesterday, Genki was getting grass from the keeper, and Gentaro was being a bully, and trying to pull it away from her. King Momo came charging to her rescue. As Gentaro will be moved soon, perhaps, he will be by himself before he is introduced to his mate, so he won't hurt her.

If you mean 'Lora' at Chiba zoo then no. As she is 44yrs old this year and can't even get along with the silverback already living there - or indeed any silverback.

I'm going to be sad to see Gentaro relocated but by his age Momo was already considered a silverback while Gentaro is still a blackback. Momo was also on his way to being mated and a father by 10yrs.
They usually get put with a bachelor group when they're young adults, before becoming a silverback. They become bros that socialize and groom one another, and I think playing with them is more his pace nowadays.

@@qzsqrlypete5753 Before she met Momo she was at another zoo. I understand there were other females. All got along for a while but then something happened. Genki got so stressed out she started self-mutilating. That's when they decided to bring her back home where she was born.
That's so sad. She must be happier with Momotaro, because she doesn't appear stressed. (Unless Gentaro bothers the baby, but they usually get along.)
