On this day, Genki was suddenly bitten by Momotaro.
Perhaps Kintaro pushed by Gentaro made a voice, and Momotaro who heard the voice misunderstood that Genki had done something.
The moment Genki was bitten by Momotaro, both Gentaro and Kintaro tried to protect Genki.
After that, Gentaro was worried and saw Genki's wounds.

⭐️モモタロウ Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
momotaro was born at Ueno zoo in Tokyo on jul.3,2000 and came to our zoo on Oct.18,2010.
He is beautiful and handsome ,the silverback of our troop.
He is a little timid,and scared of new things.
He sometimes shows lovely behaviors that melt our hearts.
He is making efforts to be a good dad for his two sons.
⭐️ゲンキ Genki ♀(1986/6/24)
Genki was born at our zoo on Jun,24,1986.
After mating with several males without a pregnancy she found her perfect partner Momotaro.
Now she is a loving and caring mom for her two sons.
She sometimes behaves boldly,yet she can also be sensitive.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️ゲンタロウ Gentaro ♂(2011/12/21))
Gentaro was born at our zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
Everyone immediately agrees that he is a very adorable boy.
⭐️キンタロウ Kintaro ♂(2018/12/19)
Kintaro was born at our zoo on Dec.19,2018.
He has big bright eyes and long eyebrows.
He is growing fine ,being loved by his parents and brother.
He love to play by himself,with his father.
He is still small, but smart and strong-willed.
His cute appearance and behavior attract everyone's interest.

I'm really glad that Gentaro was right up front about protecting his mom. Kintaro was with her as well. She did stand up and fight back for herself, but I'm really glad she had Gentaro. When he sat with her and checked her wound, I was really proud of him. She received so much support from boys. Kintaro was stroking her face and patting her, which seemed to help her calm down. She was pretty stressed at first, but Kintaro helped smooth her out a little. We can't tell from the video what set Momotaro off, but usually it's over food. And even then, he doesn't usually do more than hit. I've never seen him actually bite another of his family. That's too bad that this happened. I hope Genki feels better soon.
I'm so sad to see Genkie being attack and bitten by Momotaro it's was nice of her Son's to defend her she's such a great mother, I prayed that the bite is not serious and hope all is well with her

I never thought Momotato would bite Genki.
The two things that trigger Momo are first food, and second jealousy, something happened between them that we missed, I believe he thought Genki was eating food that was rightfully his.
How courageous of her little boys they didn't care how big he is, hurt their Mum and there's going to be a big fight.
Momo looked a bit sheepish afterward he knew he had messed up.

Gentaro to the rescue. He was the first to rescue Genki, he was also so concerned with her bite afterward.

I love how the sons naturally protect their mom. Same as my kiddos!! Momma didnt do anything. That was mean. Usually she would get a couple hours a day away from them all. Genki would forage just far enough for the silverback to call them back to help with the kiddos. Maybe they need space to get away but not see each other but same enclosure.New enriching toys, etc. Move the ropes around a bit.

Ahh, I think I see why it happened. Gentaro was being rough with Kintaro and toppled him very rudely, and I assume Kintaro must have cried out as Genki and Momotaro both started to approach. However, Momotaro must have seen Genki's approach as an attack on Kintaro, so he jumped in the way to fight her off not realizing that she was trying to aid him. Silverbacks instinctively rush to defend their children regardless of who was to blame. It's a survival skill, but it's not without room for error.
Regardless, both Kintaro and Gentaro were swift to identify the mistake and correct Momotaro. I'm always amazed how quickly gorillas will forgive and forget.
WTH!! Momotaro?! That was uncalled for. Poor Genki... It was sweet how her boys comforted her afterwards.
It's such a small enclosure. They should have more room and more stimulation. In the wild they would be climbing and foraging and moving around much more.
It certainly was brave of the boys to stand against Dad with her. They both showed real compassion when examining Mom's bite. It was so cute how Kintaro flipped her on the lip as if to say, "Smile Mom. We love you." One or the other boys were by her side after that.
I wonder what caused him to bite her for what seemed to be no apparent reason.

I hated seeing Genki get attacked by Momotaro but happy her son's were by her side to support her. Gentaro really has a lovely nature how can you not just love him!

I got the impression Gentaro was the one in trouble with Momotaro, hid behind Genki and Momotaro redirected to her, kind of like crossfire. Of course, dunno why, but it was like Momotaro stopped, Genki was like "Aye, yo, wassup?! You runnin' now? Face me, you brat!" while she chased after Momotaro...end scene 😁. Glad Genki is ok!
What is wrong with Momo today? Genki wasn’t doing anything.
I hope she received wound care, 10 days of antibiotics, and medication for pain control. It was clear she was in pain the way she kept holding and tending to her arm. Even the other gorillas knew exactly where she was bitten and tried to help in their limited way. The big silverback that bit her may need to be roomed by himself if he keeps attacking and hurting the other gorillas. Poor girl, she is so sweet and such a good mother.

She has two sons that stepped up to keep her safe knowing that their Dad could kill or wound them severely. Great job loving sons. I love watching these amazing and beautiful animals. Will the vets be able to examine Genki's arm wound and watch for infection? Will Momotaro have to be separated from his mate Genki if he becomes increasingly violent?

I actually think Momo was after Gentaro, but since he slipped in behind Genki at the last moment, he actually gave it to Genki instead.... by mistake (?!). And, most attacks by Momo are food related. In the beginning, Genki was looking quickly & furtively right before the attack, as if she might be guilty of some food-related transgression. Who knows, with Gorillas.
You are spot on Queen. He was after Gentaro and Genki, like the awesome mom that she is allowed Gentaro to take refuge behind her. Momotaro was so engulfed by rage, he took it out on Genki instead. There is another video out there that shows Gentaro giving his father a dirty/disappointing look for hurting Genki.
I was looking through the posts to see if anyone thought he was actually after Gentaro. So, yes, that crossed my mind, too.
