    Correction: 14:09 The Hairpin Like Structure Form On the The Light Strand Is Located On The Inner Side Of The Ring.

      Hi, i'm a bit confused here. In 8:09 you mention that there is a correction between the heavy strand and the light strand part. Is it include the explanation? If the light strand mention as the red one, is the explanation also belong to the red one? Or it still as it, and all i need is just switch the labeled? I mean is it : "The L strand contain a lot of Guanines" and forth or is it still "The H strand contain a lot of Guanines" like you said on the video?. I hope you understand. Also i'm sorry for my bad English since it isn't my first language. Thank you so much. I hope you a joyful day

      Hi Pelajar, your English is perfect 👌 dear, the explanation for both strands is correct only the location part was wrong. So guanines are present in H strand but the strand should be present outside not inside.

    Note: Heavy and light strand are called so due to their masses. Adenine and Guanine composition is heavy while Cytosine and Thymine have a lighter mass, hence, heavy strands would have higher number of A, G while light strands would have higher number of C, T.

    Some lectures and in some book's it is saying that H strand is inside, L strand is outside.........
    Please tell me mam which is correct

      Hi Sowmya, yes dear it was confusing thats why I made a mistake in a video and made a correction note on it. H strand is outside and L strand is inside. Thats confirmed in more 📚 then the other.

    Should the outer strand be the heavy strand? Because all the mtDNA maps show the OH is located on the outer strand.

    This information about DNA is very important connection point.
    So women and man have One type of mitochondrial-DNA and it's evolves diferently from nuclear-DNA... We all are brothers and sisters as we have One same history of m-DNA for all of us = 1 .... we all have this "One"
    Mitochondrial DNA in the form of a closed cycle, a closed cycle in the form of a “Mjobius strip” = this an important point for discussion and development.

      Hi Adnan, No the replication of H strand starts first like it was explained in the video. L STRAND will make loop but on the inner side not on the outer side

      Hi Adnan All the information provided in the video is correct, the only mistake was light strand should be presented inside and H strand should be presented outside. In the last part where you can see 4 circles. If that mistake was not there, the yellow circle should be the old H strand, black circle should be the new Strand replicated H strand, blue circle should be the new strand replicated L strand and red circle should be the old L strand. TH-cam doesn't allow to make changes like that in the video but will attach the correct picture in the comments soon to remove the confusion.

    I think I found a mistake in the video. The Heavy strand is the outer strand and the light strand is the inner strand unlike indicated in the video.

      The inner strand is known as L strand /light strand as it has more pyrimidine bases like (T and C) ...wheras the outer strand is called H /heavy strand becoz it has more purine bases ( A and G) ....so they ....they r the 2 strands of dna bouble helix

    When doing species identification, people suggest to use mtDNA sequence rather than nuclear DNA.
    Is it because the genes code for protein in mRNA of mtDNA is relatively smaller than that of nuclear DNA?

      Yes that is 1 of the main reason to use mitochondrial DNA as it code for limited number of proteins and is easy to use for identification.
