    It helped me when I realized not being a speed runner is ok and actually more enjoyable for me. I’ve been playing since 4U but never really got caught up in the speedrunning until recently. Don’t get me wrong I can kill most monsters fairly quickly but nowhere near speed run speeds. But when I realized these dudes are more skilled than me (just like someone speed running a souls game, sure I’ve beat all of them but not in 45 minutes with no damage :0) it became more fun to try out defensive play styles. I like to role play that I’m on the hunt, because when you go hunting in real life your goal isn’t to kill in 2 minutes, a big factor is the time away and enjoying the scenery. Anyways TLDR there is no wrong way to play Monster Hunter. Just have fun mates!

      And they also didn't get there instantly or were born speedrunners.
      These people put thousands of hours into every MH and often play almost nothing else and also have hunts that take forever just to learn the movesets. I think people these days just look at speedruns of MH or other games and think they suck if they can't do the same within a few hours or play like that at all.
      But when you finally actually get used to a monsters moveset and beat them in a few minutes it feels geat.
      And as you said just play how you want, but i would recommend doing all the key quests at least 2-3 times solo just to actually learn the monsters a bit. The follower quests also really help with that since they are not as actiev as another player and give you all the time you need.

      Indeed, I have done a combination of an immortal build by Rage + some Palamute skills + HH + some offensives, it takes me like 8 minutes to kill afflicted lvl 35 monsters while I barely use health portion, so game became like Diablo 3 and I do enjoy it :)

    A simple tip from even base game is to learn when to wirefall and when to just let yourself fall. Too many people auto-recover with wirefall then get comboed by something else, sometimes into death. While some attacks can hit you on the ground, a lot cant, so it gives you a chance to avoid further damage that may be part of a combo. This is something you have to learn by yourself from observation, just which attacks have followups and what is their timing.

    • @jamesk2325
      @jamesk2325 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! The biggest culprit I know of on this is nargacuga. It feels like he's coded to specifically murder you if you wirebug out.

    • @lucazes9544
      @lucazes9544 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Truth man I've died more to premature wirefalls into the other half of a combo than to any other thing

    • @Jbrowni3
      @Jbrowni3 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It took me a bit to realize this as well, but its does help. The invincibility time and saving a bug is helpful.
      The devs programmed the game to take advantage of a players perceived comfort of wire falling away. Some monster attacks are even timed and angled perfectly to be highly likely to take out double wirefalls if you go one after another after being hit. You must take your time and be more deliberate in your recovery.

    I appreciate you saying “it’s ok to get Spiribirds.” I always get them, I have the routes in my head. And I’m tired of people not getting them and carting 3 times on me. I play defensively, because duh I’m not on team darkside. I’m glad the followers can go Anomaly quests, I much prefer bringing them on these hunts. They do the wyvern hunting, healing, and all the things a regular person would. Except they rarely faint. Plus I can bring my Palico and Palamute. I also love their chit chat in the background. I really am enjoying the Sunbreak expansion.

    Rurikhan is 100% right. Don't sleep on comfort skills guys, they can be a life changer to the point of making you enjoy a weapon you used to dislike.
    I fell in love with the Swaxe back in 4U's endgame thanks to Evasion (now called Evade Window), and now I'm maining it in Sunbreak just because this skill allows me to play with my own Bloodborne-ish style in Monster Hunter and I fricking love it.
    The most recent mix i made yesterday comes with Critical Eye, Weakness Exploit, Critical Boost, Quick Morph and all that jazz, but also Stun Resistance, Speed Sharpening, Blight Resistance and even Fortify in case i cart because that happens. These are game changers just as much as pure damage skills, so don't neglect them if they fit your playstyle and your needs.

    • @TheVenhammer

      @skadi2911 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheVenhammer A very popular choice for the Swaxe gang.
      I tend to prefer EW just bc i play very aggressively with my swaxe, always being on the monster's head and rolling through attacks to instantly attack once more. The only drawback is against multi-hits attacks. I also use the positioning silkbind mooves a lot to get in or out of the way if necessary.
      I tried EE but it just messes up my positioning, i never got used to it. To each their preference i guess x)

    wanna add that, if you don't have hunter's voice turn on, you can look for the sound of qurios gathering with a samll sound cue (think of a milder sound of energy gathering superseiyan). When that happens, you know that the qurios is going to exploade and can stay away.

    Pay attention to The other hunters in multiplayer quests. Some examples from recent hunts, if you have a lance and there's a great sword user in your party don't wake the monster up with your lance. If a monster is mountable and one of your other party members has a color wire bug and you don't - you can see this next to their weapon icon in the UI - Don't mount the monster let the other person do it. If you're using a bow gun, you will flinch your party members unless they have level 2 flinch free, and you shoot faster than most long sword combos attack, and you can flinch lock the entire party if you spam your attacks, especially if you're rapid firing pierce ammo as it can go straight through the monster and hit a hunter on the other side. Figure out how to get flinch free two into your set if you are going to attack the same part of the monster that someone else is.

    I use a very comfortable build and I don’t recall ever carting twice in a hunt. Maybe it’s just my playstyle but slugging it out with the monster feels better than the downtimes of running back and forth on camp. (I use SnS btw so that’s even more comfort)
    Also, I can’t stress out how good lvl4 Dango Bird Caller is since it cuts down spiritbird farming to a literal minute.

    Man, I love how you approach videos and the fact that you are trying to help the community!
    But to be honest, as someone who is struggling with the current most difficult content in SB... this doesn't help. Like at all.
    It feels too much like pointing out the basics/fundamentals. Most of this infor will flash in your screen on tutorial windows (which people shouldn't ignore) including all the afflicted mechanics.
    One thing I don't recall you mentioning that can make the hunts a lot easier is the use of endemic life, not just spirit bird collection.
    The Marionette Spider give you free topples, specially good if you slam a monster against Starburst Bugs (you can use Blastoads too).
    You can abuse Sleeptoads with good wakeup weapons like GS.
    You have a free paralisys with the Paratoad, a free "adrenaline" with the Aurorturtle (first time you would die you are set to 1HP)
    Also one thing a lot of people don't notice is that afflicted monsters cannot be captured but CAN be trapped, this as everybody knows open the possibilty to chain CC and completely destroy a mosnter, specially with a somewhat coordinated friend squad.
    Hope I don't come out too harshly and that my english is not too broken :,)
    Thank you for your hard work Rurikhan!

      Could you elaborate on this please? Sorry mew to rose and trying to learn

    • @tomattorods
      @tomattorods 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DuskShadowclaw Although the meta is damage oriented, monsters in sunbreak are hitting really hard to a point you have to consider defensive skills on your build. while most of weapons are skill demanding in terms of damage, gunlance only needs 2 damage skills if you play a shelling focused playstyle(Load shells and Artillery), and usually armor pieces share some points of both. This laves you free to use a lot of defensive/comfort skills if you want to.
      Of course you will lose some damage, but compared with other weapons the price is very cheap.
      For example, if tou try to place a lot of stamina management skills on a dual blades build, you'll lose a lot of damage.
      I'm saying this only based on my personal experience and maybe I'm wrong, but this is why I like to play Gunlance in Sunbreak: while I got a lot of comfort, I still can do great damage thanks to shelling

    • @phaselockk
      @phaselockk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're saying they have the same raw value, but one has additional ice attack, then yes it's just better to have the ice. But if the weapon has less raw but some ice to compensate, then it's a lot more complicated. Different attacks do different amounts of element vs. raw, so whether it makes sense either takes a lot of calculation and assumptions, or just trying it out and seeing what numbers you get.

      I mean I didn't want to unsubscribe or block Monster Hunter because I plan on going back to see others experience after I had my own first hand (and I didn't want to mess with the algorithms) but that plan failed me.

      @@AntonioCunningham No, it's equivalent to putting the word "apex" in the title, not discussing the system. It is still a minor spoiler, but in this case, it's hard for creators to get around saying the name of the system in a guide like this. Someone gets to end game and wants to look up an apex, tempered, afflicted etc guide, they need to put that word in there so that they can find it.
