Great entertaining review as you always do, must admit though that the part that made me the happiest is when you said that at 5'9" you can flat foot it. I am half an inch over that and was rather concerned that I would not be tall enough to comfortably ride it, so you have put my mind at ease which has made my day. Thanks bud
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed the review 👍 Yes I can flat foot it, also there is adjustability with the seat so you should be fine. Such a brilliant bike, I may own one some day 😉 Cheers
I m getting mine next week hopefully,i didn't even see it in real,i always had superbikes and did lots of motocross,so adventure bike is new to me,i m glad to hear that at 5'9 tall you feel comfortable on it coz this was my main concern...
Very well said, they really do know how to make a mean V-Twin!! 🤘 Yes it is high up, though I suppose all adventure bikes these days are high off the ground. I personally am also 5'9", I actually quite like that high up riding position. Just personal preference though. I do love a KTM 👍
Great review. Been binge watching reviews lately. Looking to buy a 2021-2022 1290 SAS in spring/summer 😃 Tried one out a couple of weeks ago, what a machine! Tried a Multistrada V2 and a GS1250 aswell, but the KTM won my heart. Will make a great addition to the MV in the garage 😎
Great review. In 2013 I bought a GS over a KTM 1190 ADV on a head-over-heart decision. I’m not a fast rider but the KTM brought the hooligan out in me and much as you say the potential to exceed speed limits without effort is always there. Not that it wouldn’t lug but it’s natural habitat was (too) fast. I’ve gone ATAS DCT because it has that Miss Daisy pace if you let it rather than the snarling beast ready to escape the leash. It’s on my bucket list all the same even just to try along with several more…… And that’s the nature of biking; you buy a new machine and still ponder your next. Keep up the great reviews!
Hi Ian, I completely understand and very well said 👍 So much fun but I do genuinely worry that I would ride it too fast on the road as it is just so good!! Amazingly capable machine, we are spoilt for choice these days. A great choice the ATAS DCT, so relaxing and as you say cruises at a lovely speed. I think you and I may have a similar riding style! Cheers
I also bought the ‘21 ATAS DCT last August. I grew weary of waiting for the Super Adventure 1290 R to arrive in the US. I completely agree with Ian about the nature of our curiosity for the next bike. In all reality my current steed has more power and torque than anyone “needs,” but clearly the KTM has drawn out the inner hooligan in every rider.
Hi Sergio, thanks you very much, really pleased you liked the review. It is my pleasure! Of course the weather in the UK is cooler than in Spain so I cannot say for how it would be in Spain, however I did not notice any warmth from the bike at all!! A fantastically fun and capable machine 👍 Hope that helps.
Well, the difference between S and R is not just in the size of the wheels and tires though. Suspension allows for different wheel travel, ground clearance is different so as the sitting height… It is an exciting bike, but reviews should be accurate especially “in small details”, not just emotional. No hard feelings, just some feedback for future reviews🤝
I did ride the new BMW 1250 GS and Ducati V4s before I bought this KTM and I have to say if you give me this 3 and say pick one I would once again go with the Ktm. So easy, fast, comfort is great with optional Ktm seat and radar cruise works just great on AC. Sound with Akrapovic way better the V4s. It loves to ride slow or fast, just a bike for all situation and V2 is for me still best motor option. It makes you smile every time you ride it.
Hi, I have to say I am inclined to agree with you 👍 It was just such a fun ride and really an amazing motorcycle! The V Twins that KTM make are just fantastic, such much character and versatile as well. Congratulations on your buy, I hope you enjoy it for a long time to come. Cheers
I noticed that after few months and several rides, I got to used to power and all that came new normal. Now I can just ride easy and normal way and still that all power and fun is there waiting but I don´t use it as often as when all that was new and exciting.
That is very interesting and good hear 👍 I was wondering wether that might be the case (getting used to it). On these test rides it is too easy to get carried away because you know you have to give the bike back soon!! Very nice to be able to relax with the bike, but then have all that fun power when you fancy using it. Cheers
Thanks for the review. I've got the previous model Super Adventure and can confirm the engine is great. What would you buy with your own money, this or the GSA?

@@redangrevival Yes, I enjoyed my test ride, thank you and indeed that power delivery requires some recalibrating of the senses.
