    It may be easier to paint the edges before glueing the painting...

    I would, seal the diamond painting first, trim the edges, then paint the canvas where needed and all you do is glue it on and done. Less handling of the canvas too.

    • @MimsHowse
      @MimsHowse  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You certainly could. But I find that the sealant can crack if it is handled too much or when you bend it to spray the glue. So I wait till it dries or dont seal at all.

    Think I will try this on my next painting. I have been using wood frames with glass which can get rather pricey on the larger paintings. DAC guarantees their drills for a lifetime, so I htink I will try my next one on canvas. I like the comment of painting the edges first for better coverage.

    Hi Mim, love your videos. So helpful. I do need some help/clarification, if you don't mind. Do I seal the DP, then adhere to the canvas, paint the canvas, then use the UV spray as the finishing? Just not sure when to seal. I don't want to spray too many things on it that will take away the shine.. thanks

    • @MimsHowse
      @MimsHowse  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have ordered some sealer that is specific for diamond paintings and the video will be up prob sometime next week. I am going out of town for a few days but will be back to try those out. With that said, I dont seal mine anymore since the first 2 I sealed with an artistic spray sealer caused the sparkle to go away. I haven't found any to keep from doing that. In this video, I should have painted the canvas before I glued it LOL! I was impatient and wanted to get right to the video. So, Paint first, Glue, let dry, then seal if your going to seal. I hope that helps. :) Thank you so much for watching and being here to encourage me!

      @@MimsHowse thank you so much. Good to know about the sealer. I bought it yesterday at Michael's. I hope they let me return it. I look forward to your video. @@MimsHowse also I bought the gorilla spray you use and I sprayed my canvas like you did in the video but my canvas is bigger then my painting so on some parts of the canvas you can see where the spray went to far. But on other parts the painting didn't have enough or any adhesive. My question is how do I spray the adhesive to make sure the painting area is covered without spraying the whole canvas? Should I spray the painting itself, then lay that on top of the canvas?

      I only sealed my first 2 Diamond paintings, after that I never really did. I didnt like the way it made the diamonds not sparkle. I have not tried the specific diamond painting sealer that I have seen advertised. I should do a video on it. I have heard people only seal if the diamonds do not stick good, or pop off easy. I have had a really bad one that I got from an Aliexpress store that the grid was too small for the diamonds and the diamonds were weird sizes too. They popped out so much I wanted to burn the thing! lOL! It was the Peter Pan one I showed on the channel back a while. Thank you for watching!

    I’m late to the party but want to tell you that I enjoyed this video very much. This is a really nice way to “frame” a DP and it is helpful to see your process. I also love your hands story… NO shame in having hard working hands that produce happiness! Also, that stuffed tiger and the kids are so sweet. I have a stuffed elephant about that size that I move between my couch and LR floor. It is now like an elephant skin rug as my rear end has flattened it over the years 🤣 I am now in my early 40’s and still Iove it!

    Just wondering how you frame diamond paintings that are not standard American measurements. Ex: those on Temu. How do you even find frames for them if the measurements are in metric? Do you or does anyone else have a video on how to do it? Thanks!

    • @MimsHowse
      @MimsHowse  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You would need to go find a frame that has a matt in it all ready cut to the dimensions of the DP. If not, then you would need to custom cut matts to the size of the DP picture edge, and let the excess around the DP stay behind the Matt. ORRR, just find the closest size stretched canvas and glue it like in the video. No worries about frames. Thank you for your question and watching! God bless you!

      I got it on Aliexpress. It is a 50x50 cm (They are in lock down over there in china for that awful corona virus plus the country is on vay cay because of it being Chinese New Year. If you order it will take about 2 months or more to get it. However, when they come back from holiday, they usually have sales. So watch for that. www.aliexpress.com/item/32880768409.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dDZ1bgd

    I am on my IPad and cannot understand why TH-cam will not show my new comments at all. I had one from Carissa about her trying the gorilla glue and it was not sticking for her. It is repositionable for a few minutes in case you do not get it centered you can fix it before it is non removable. Make sure you have shook the can a good good while. IF that still doesn’t work, you may have a bad can. This can has been a good one so if they are not consistent please let us know in the comments. There are others, just make sure they are non yellowing and safe for photos etc.

    How do you find a canvass that is the exact size you need?

    • @MimsHowse
      @MimsHowse  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Claudia Nay Hi Claudia, I take note of the Centimeters and figure out the inches of it. Some are not the exact same size so, I get the closest canvas that will match. Sometimes I have a bunch of extra on the edge. You can paint it or even hot glue some decor for a 3D affect! The canvases usually will say the Centimeters as well as the inch size that they are and that helps out a whole lot! Don’t worry if its a few inches larger than your canvas.

    • @MimsHowse
      @MimsHowse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It probably would be ok if you can find a stretched canvas that is exactly the outer edge of the actual painting image. Thats the issue. Some factories fudge on the actual inside image size by making the whole canvas a 30x40 which makes that inside a bit smaller. Can get aggravating so I always err on the larger size if its not exact.

The rings that are there for the wire were far too high, they should be a third of the way down the back of the picture ie if it measures 18", you measure down one third ie 6", just saying. Nice picture by the way.

      I would either spray or paint the white canvas BEFORE applying the painting.

    • @MimsHowse
      @MimsHowse  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some do paint before but the glue messed it up so they glue first. Some don’t have any problem painting first. I chose to spray half at a time since it was so hard to try to fix the positioning if one lays it down wrong with the whole thing sprayed first. That way I can control the positioning from moving as much and wont have to try to peel it up to fix it over and over if I get it wonky. There really isn’t a wrong way to do it with the canvas idea. It is very adaptable to each individual’s process. Thank you for watching! :)
