- Well this is an odd development, had a WR250R chain slider fail at 2K + miles. We surmise how this occurred and how to replace one in this video! Also for any fellow weebs who enjoy the reference you get a cookie.

From my internet arm chair, I think you still have your chain tension a bit too tight. If you haven't tried it yet, for your next chain and sprocket set try out 14/49. I ran stock gearing for years and only recently switched over, huge improvement overall and gets the chain away from the sliders.
I added another quarter inch to the slack it's pretty near 1 5/8s now. I am considering the 14 but I mainly ride off road / want to hare scramble on it. Thanks for the insight though these $40 sliders add up lol.
Can you use an aftermarket front sprocket guard/cover with a 14 tooth?
Yes, you can use the Sandman guard with the 14t. You may not be able to use the stock guard. @@anonymous_friend
@@enduro_alex Do you have the sandman case saver and guard with a 14 tooth? Has it eaten into the case saver?
Yup, 14t here with Sandman guard, no issues@@anonymous_friend
Yeah I went back to stock gearing and it fixed all my problems. Had 13/47 for a long time and it absolutely chewed the slider im done spending $49-$54 every time it wears thru and I already have grooves in my swing arm 😢😮. Anyways good video just keep an eye on it.
Well I hate to admit that I fixed this issue when I traded up for my crf450rl, I ran 13/49 myself and when I had the bike lowered it greatly exacerbated the same problem.
It’s known also if you use a 12 tooth sprocket it can be real bad for wear
I was using 13/49 for my ratio, what was killing them was a mixture of my weight and the bike being lowered
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. What tooth sprockets do you run ???
I ran 13/49 with go race suspension and a 22mm lower.
@@stoplogicmotorsports I just bought a wr 250 r and I’m going to install a 14 on the front to try to keep this from happening. I already bought the sprocket. It has a 48 on the rear. I was thinking about making a video on it. Thank you for sharing hope you and your family have a merry Christmas
@@thehillbillyhoarder4996 you too one thing to bear in mind the WR doesn't really fit a 14 tooth without using the oh what's that case saver... the Sandman case saver I think even then they don't recommend it.
@@stoplogicmotorsports thank you. I really appreciate it
Do you think you could fill in the chainslider damage with shoe goo?
Actually before I sold it I got J-B weld in a tube and filled in the minor rash on the swingarm. Funny enough the person who bought the bike after I sold it reached out to me on Facebook so I'm in the process of trying to get the WR back lol.
As for the slider itself shoe Goo wouldn't be strong enough to be a successful mend I would say a hardened epoxy might do the.
Don't know how I missed this video, did you make an Evangelion joke in the title?
Yeah I'm glad someone finally noticed
@@stoplogicmotorsports bro you are such a weeb!
Told ya to get a real bike like my Ducati. You and yer toy bikes mike.
Pssh if I head back down to Austin to ride take your desert sled out to gsl ranch, I'll take the wr lol.
What gearing are you using
I was using 13/49 also I think it's important to note I had my suspension lowered by gorace (which was a great mod for the bike) but I suspect it changed the geometry a bit.
@@stoplogicmotorsports well if you change t0 14/52 it's damn close to same ratio and will save your swing arm.. just a a suggestion
@@gabrielkopp2036 I kinda cheated and saved my swingarm by buying a CRF450RL.
@@stoplogicmotorsports the only issue with the 450l/rl is you have to dump another 2k into it just to make it run properly
@@gabrielkopp2036 you can get it to run properly for as little as $900 honestly. Regardless of any bike I usually toss about 2k anyway for custom suspension work and I'm addicted to tinkering.
I did a video comparing the two bikes and there's times I really do miss my wr250r. ( especially that 3 inch shorter wheelbase when the woods get tight)
Chain looks a bit too tight
I hate to admit how I fixed it but it's been replaced with a crf450rl. Funny enough that also brings a whole new set of problems to deal with lol.
@@stoplogicmotorsports I'm curious to hear how much you got for it if you don't mind me asking
@@oConshien the wr250r I got $4250 at the dealership on trade in a little over a year ago. The crf450rl $7500 private sale.
