    Nice, Jade. I rode the 1300 mile Idaho BDR on mine. I had the pannier racks you have with Giant Loop panniers. Its pretty flimsy due to the lack of the rear brace between the rear of the racks. I did a fairly simple lowside.....but stylish though....and bent the mount tab in on left side. I bent it back out but it was never trustworthy again. I moved all the weight to right side and put lighter stuff in left pannier thereafter. I am running slightly higher gearing at 14/43 and the panniers were too wide in headwinds to pull 6th gear. I rode the 2500 miles to the start of the trail, then the same mileage home from the other end. I took the racks off and threw them away on my return and bought the Mosko Reckless 80 to narrow the bikes profile. I have a T7 also, and love it, but it gets pretty big and top heavy for serious off road work so the little WR will be the BDR bike of choice over the T7. Good luck on your adventures.

      @@jaderides Thanks. You're welcome.
      I have a '20 WR w/ 15k. Mostly on the street. Been to the mountains a few times, but most of my dirt riding is on gravel roads..
      Was looking at re-doing the windshield I diy'd a few years back. The angle was not upright enough. It is basically the angle of the number plate, and it is also very small, 8x10. I like yours a lot, but I will diy again. Looking forward to your future vids. Lightning is flashing here now and the forecast is for several days of rain. So I'm glad I went out for a ride this morning. Cheers.

      @@friedaspyder8485 sounds like you picked the right time to go for a ride then! My boyfriend cut down a screen he got to make it more suitable and that worked well until he had a crash somewhere in West Africa 🤦🏻‍♀️ if my WR hadn't come with the cool screen and fairing I'd probably make one too 😅

    • @friedaspyder8485
      @friedaspyder8485 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jaderides That's a great extra to come with the bike.
      I had a 390 adventure, that I traded for my WR. Long story...
      I have a 3d printer, and I just bolted to a beefy part of the plastic with a spacer I designed. It was rewarding getting everything to line up and fit. Now I have modify for a better angle, and fit s bigger screen. I'll likely make it more sturdy too. Also rebuilding my electronics connection box. lol. Fun.

    Got my WRR a week ago and love it. Tried a KLR after my singletrack YZ and didn't like the KLR. The WRR is perfect for me. Can't wait for new adventures and hope you post more content. It's turned winter here in western US so riding is limited for a few months :(

    • @jaderides
      @jaderides  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahh enjoy it! I've not ridden a KLR, was it the 650? Meant to be really good but heavy I guess? Oh winter sucks, it's cold here too but hoping for some sunshine to get out soon 🤞🏻

      @ashleyhill1832 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jaderides I have a KLR650 for commuting and dirt roads. Low seat plus lowering links and form adjustment and I fit well on it. It's a bit heavy but perfect for cruising and light ADV.

    Jade, i misspoke on the gearing. It is 14/46 which is just slightly higher than stock. The 14 tooth CS gets the chain up off the swingarm. I ran the stock windshield setup and it was fine up to 60MPH but wind fatigue was noticeable faster than that. I like your fairing setup with the adjustable windscreen, but also it looks like you have a real headlight, whereas the stock headlight is like following someone running ahead carrying a candle.

    • @jaderides
      @jaderides  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      14/49 is what my partner and I run so it can pull in 6th gear, have you tried it with that? Haha yes the standard headlight is shocking, mine can be too bright though and blind people when I have luggage on the back but I rarely ride in the dark

    • @solardude997
      @solardude997 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven't tried the 14/46 combo but it would be a good compromise. Probably like my 5th with 14/46. 6th is pretty much reserved for ideal situations, I admit, and your 1st is lower than mine. I do have a 49 rear and a pavement ride tomorrow. I might put it on and see what I think.

    Absolutely great video Jade :) thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the WR250R with us all great insight. It's a real shame Yamaha haven't got any small CC Adventure bikes at the moment I've had alot of 1980s Yamaha's in recent timesrd250lc, 250c, 350lc rzv500r(superbike in the day 500v4 2stroke) just got the one 350lc now an they always impressed even in modern times so it's a shame they are missing in the current line ups of adv bikes as Yamaha sure know how to make some good small cc adventure trail and adventure travel bikes.

    Hi. Thanks for the video, I have been thinking of getting a Yamaha 250 but I am worried about it being too tall for me, did you lower your bike?
    is there much difference between the 250R and the 250F? I am looking forward to your next videos.

    • @jaderides
      @jaderides  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I've lowered mine with a link and a low seat yes, they are tall bikes but lighter than a lot of "adventure" bikes so I manage okay. My inside leg is 29" so anything that or longer and you'll be just fine 😊 massive differences in the F and R, completely different bikes I don't think they share anything other than a similar name and engine size 😅

    • @guille2074
      @guille2074 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jaderides thank you.
      So, do you prefer the R to the F?

    • @jaderides
      @jaderides  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@guille2074 the F is an overweight, underpowered enduro bike, the R has long service intervals and a bulletproof engine, depends what you want though - if you're wanting a proper off-road bike get a Beta or KTM or something light and capable, if you want something to take greenlaning but to travel with too I'd say a WRR or adventure bike if you're not bothered about doing proper trails 😊

    Great looking bike. I just got a 2008 that needs some work. Are you running the stock front brake caliper on that aftermarket disc that comes with the sm pro wheel? Also curious what brand 14 tooth front sprocket you are running? I have my bike lowered and want to avoid having the chain eat the swing arm. I hear 14 is the best way to avoid it. Are you able to run a front sprocket guard or case saver with it? Thank you!

    • @jaderides
      @jaderides  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry I didn't see this! Thank you and that's exciting, I've got Supermoto front brake set up, disk and caliper, the R brake is quite awful that's why 😅 but obviously stock wheels you can't do that as the hub is the wrong size. I don't know what brand it is sorry, I'll ask my partner as he may remember
