  • It's BIG. It's bad. It's more interesting than that old Dos Equis guy. It's forged in dragons fire and quenched in testosterone. It's the TOPS SXB, designed by EJ Snyder. And it's now in The Gauntlet...

You know I was just sitting here watching your video like the hundreds of other knife videos I watch and I got to thinking how funny it is that guys like me will sit here perfectly content watching another guy chopping wood. Lol after all this time we should all know exactly what something is gonna chop like just from looking at it. For some reason I still find it interesting. Knife addict lol

Hello... I found few years ago knives are cheaper than women and knives actually get ya somewhere and I've been addicted to knives sense.

Chris is actually an okay chopper too which is a relief to see, among others. Some of these dudes just kinda throw the knife at the wood while its still in their hand? Just flailing.
Sometimes I sit and bitch at my phone during videos like that lol
"Wrong angle dumbass!!! No!! What are you fucking cross-eyed???"
.... "No wonder dude its hickory!!! Its not the knife, pay attention!!!"
      "You swing like a bitch!!"
      Lol common to hear

EJ was my Sergeant Major with 1-21 INF back in the day. Our first tour in Iraq in 04-05 It was my turn to burn the shit, and he came out and hung out with me pretty much the whole time I was on that detail. The man is a role model for sure. Definitely one I’ll never forget.

I've had my Skullcrusher for a couple years now and love it. Alot of people give me the gears about how it's too big as well, but that being said it has more uses for me.
I wish I had this twenty years ago when I was in the bush all the time.

Had mine about a month now, all I can say is it’s a work horse. Love everything about it. A hand hatch, like you said, it pretty much murders anything it comes in contact with, one awesome tool to have. Great video thanks for sharing.

I almost feel like when it comes to knives like this that are both huge and have unique features, the designer should release a comprehensive instructional video showing all of the different ways to use the knife and take advantage of its design features. Because like you said Chris, this knife is not going to be very intuitive to someone that's used to using something smaller like a Mora. So I think some instruction with this knife would be in order. =)

Really good review Chris. I like the fact that you mentioned in the beginning that there is a difference between a bushcrafting knife and a one-tool-option-knife. I have the same experience with my Habilis Bushtool. These kind of knifes are supposed to be a tool with different tasks and therefore we have things like heavy weight, bulkyness etc to consider. Thanks for the review! Cheers, Marc

Thanks for the review!!! I'm glad you got it out fast! I'll be getting it for sure now. I'm used to a big knife and use my RTAK II for most things. I always have a folder on me for the smaller stuff. I've been waiting for something like this with more weight and length in the head like a hatchet. This paired with one of my folders is going to be perfect. I'm a bigger guy so things that are "up-sized" don't bother me. I look forward to Part 2!

I have one and it's brilliant! Gives me blisters but I just got some gloves. It is my go to one tool option. I use it more than my USMC Ka Bar. In fact it's better for close work and feather sticks than the Ka Bar (to be fair, my Ka Bar is part serrated). Its awesome! I have chopped through a telegraph pole with mine. It probably chops as well as my Jess X. Keep up the good work Chris!

One issue I have with my Tracker II (yeah, I wanted one ever since I saw "that movie" and bought it when I came into a little $) is that there's not really a lot of edge that hits when I'm chopping with it. It either falls on the "hook" part or kind of glances off the belly part. This larger design with a longer (actual) chopping portion seems to answer the problem. I also like that the sawback/notcher is down lower on the blade so that they wouldn't get messed up when battoning. You can also use the "draw knife" portion without the notch teeth digging into your hands.
Honestly, if I was going to "fix" the tracker and didn't mind carrying something the size and weight of a Filipino bolo, this might be it.

I know this is an old video, but I think that knife is a decent one knife trap maker. you can notch, and plane with it, along with chopping and some fine work on the back edge. I don't think it's a replacement for a good Scandinavian grind bushcraft though...not by a Longshot. Both would be useful, but if I'm carrying two tools, give me a Gransfors Bruks are and a Bushcraft knife and call it a day.
