How To Make Your Facebook Completely Private

- You can make your Facebook account completely private by changing several of the settings.
It is recommended to use facebook.com our a browser to make these changes to privacy.
You'll have to make several changes to the privacy tab under settings.
Make sure everything is set to only me or friends here.
Next, go to timeline and tagging and limit use to friends or only me.
Next, go to public posts and change from public to friends.
You also need to turn off face recognition in photos.
If you want to be harder to find, change your last name to your middle name under the general setting option.
Once you do all the settings changes related to privacy on Facebook, go to your profile, and make sure your phone number and email are also viewable to only me.

Facebook is annoying af,... I'm VERY computer savvy and I had to come to a damn tutorial to make sure my profile was fully private... smh

Thank you very much! I was able to do almost all over my phone. I don't have access to a computer. But do you know how to make all of your photos private as well? Exspect for your current profile picture?
You have to do those individually. You can make your profile pic ONLY ME. The thumbnail will show up but nobody can comment or react which is how I have mine. If you're fishing for compliments, obviously this option isn't for everyone
This still doesn't explain how to stop random people seeing your profile. I click on some profiles and I can see nothing, people click on mine and can go through my time line, my photo's everything?

Question is how do you make yourself disappear from search results?! I did all of what you show in the tutorial and I can still see myself coming up in someone's search result (and they aren't friends with me)!

From all the searching Iv done it seems they've removed the option to do so a while ago, the only way to remove yourself from the search results is to deactivate your profile as far as I'm aware.

Louise B I don’t believe you can. Because they can simply take a screen shot of it even if downloading was not an option

Bad news is even if you and your friends have their friend list hidden, people can still find you and yiur friends by clicking on a profile pic and seeing who reacted or commented on post. Only way to keep that from happening is making profile pic ONLY ME. Pic still shows but no comments or reactions. Obviously you can't make your friends do this so if you want total privacy don't comment or react to anything. You can also remove ALL reactions from past posts under Activity Log. Facebook cares nothing about your privacy. You can also remove those annoying People You May Know suggestions underneath Settings>notifications

So I’m trying to understand why one would want to set future posts to “only me”. Isn’t the point of posting so that your friends actually see your posts? What an i missing?
Yea that is really for personal archiving. I don’t know why anyone would choose that either. It will make Facebook pointless unless you just wanted a place to store photos for yourself

though I put only me, or specific friends I found out my posts were on other time pages and when I clicked on the sign it showed only me and the other one showed the names I did not want to share with. so this means fb is not safe, my private posts were put public ..... and particularly on pages of those I did not want them to share with. do you know why please?

Not useful! Either it cannot be done or no one has ever tried it. I want only to hide or view only by me my profile picture from everyone including friends or stay hidden from friends, if that is even possble. I know we all knew what a profile picture is!
