I am on a sock making spree too! I am knitting a box o’ socks for a granddaughter going away to university. Every pair will be a little hug on her feet from me. I have so many favorite patterns but Crazy Sock Lady’s Vanilla Sock on 9” circulars is my favorite vanilla. It helped as I transitioned from double pointed needles to the 9” circulars. I love chiaogoo 9” needles now. When I have a self striping yarn that plays nicely, I like her Heel Toe Do Si Do pattern. Summer Lee’s shorty Socks Pattern Set are really great for shorties with many variations. Lastly, Kay F. Jones at Bakery Bears is a favorite designer. I have about 8 of her patterns now and love them all.
What an amazing gift! I'm sure your granddaughter will absolutely love them:-)
I love to knit all kind of socks but lately I love the pattern from the Crazy Socklady: Heel Toe Do Si Do. So great for all those selfstriping yarn.
I enjoyed to see all your socks and will look for your patterns. I also use the patterns as I want... most of the time longer and another heel.
You inspired me to knit more socks 😊 i just cast off the Mermaid Avenue socks by Summer Lee and it is my current favorite pattern (aside of the plain vanilla socks that I always to go to when i just need to knit a bit while waiting 😅) the Ladybug yarn will be perfect for another Mermaid avenue sock pattern that I wish to make again! 😻🩷
Oh the Mermaid Socks are so beautiful and would be perfect for the yarn:-)
I've made so many pairs of DRK everyday socks. I love the way the all over ribbing hugs my feet and the fleegle heel is so fun to knit.
I love all the beautiful socks! Surprisingly, I like the Stephen West socks! My primary sock knitting pattern is plain vanilla socks. The need to follow a pattern means I have to keep the pattern with me at all times. Vanilla socks give me the ease to just pick up and knit anywhere.
I know exactly what you mean:-)
I have no idea how you manage to complete so many pairs of socks in such a short time but I love seeing them all!
My favorite sock pattern is a Vanilla sock. It’s my favorite to show off the yarn and let it shine ❤️
Thank you:-) I did have a lot of them as WIPs before SSC started:-)
That yarn reminds me of the fruit salad sweets we have in the UK. I don't make to many socks, but I have bought the Gudrunstomper Gudrunsocks pattern so that is what I would make with the yarn
Oh my goodness, I would knit Summer Lee’s Mermaid Avenue socks! That pink yarn would be perfect! Thank you for a lovely inspirational podcast ❤️
My favorite sock pattern is the hermonie everyday socks. I do enjoy doing the faux cable socks.
I love to knit socks and I love to wear them. I’d say they’re my most worn knits. My favourite pattern is Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by Nancy Wheeler. I knit it in self-striping yarn and it turned out great, but it looks even better with speckled yarns. ❤
Hi Melene! Thank you so much for your podcast! I love the Crazy Sock Lady’s Austin sock pattern for either variegated or tonal yarns! Hope you continue to have a wonderful summer of sock knitting!
Thank you! Happy Knitting:-)
So many beautiful pairs of socks! I love to knit sock patterns from the Bakery bears! 🐻 💗
Thank you for sharing your wonderful socks. I love knitting socks top-down on magic loop. I use a pattern from Ann Budd for the basics (8 Stitches per inch) then change things up: different rib, different heel, colour blocking, stripes, there's no end to the variety with sock knitting!
Well I'm awake at 2:00 am and watched your beautiful podcast to help me clear my thoughts. My husband has been recovering from knee surgeries this past year and I think what I will do if something happens to him. Praying for God's healing.
My current favorite sock pattern is Prom Queen by Kay Jones. Have a wonderful week!
I'm so sorry to hear you are going through all this! I wish you all the best and speedy healing for your husband:-)
Hello, I really enjoy watching your videos, very relaxing and encouraging to see you take what you like from patterns and do what you want for the other bits! I have to remember that I can do that lol😂. I like a lot of patterns but find I enjoy cables in a sock. It seems to dress up the feet so well. Thanks for sharing your knitting journey.
Thank you! I'm so happy you like it:-)
I like to knit vanilla socks but am excited to try the new heel in the socks you showed today that has no flap or gusset! I absolutely loved all 9 pair of socks you shared with us today and all the other wonderful goodies! Happy summer 💜Stephanie
Thank you Stephanie! Happy Summer☀️🎵💖
What a fun episode! I so enjoyed seeing all the different socks you've completed. So many gorgeous yarns! With a variegated yarn, like so many here, I will just do a vanilla sock with a heel flap and gusset. A pattern that I've knit more than once that still works with a variegated yarn is the Drippety Drop Sock pattern by Kay Jones. Such a fun texture. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into your podcast. It's always great fun to watch!
Thank you so much for your kind and sweet words! They really mean a lot:-)
Hi Marlene, I like the Everyday sock from Andrea Mowry very much. Toe up and 3-1 ribbing throughout of the sock. That fits very goed. Have a nice weekend. Christianne
A favorite sock pattern of mine is The Country Garden by Ellie Jones. It's very cute. Thanks for sharing today! Have a great week.
I love knitting vanilla socks, simple but with mostly selfstriping yarn.
Thank you Malene for sharing all your lovely makes. I am a vanilla sock Knitter but that beautiful skein would look amazing in the pattern "be simple, with variations". One of my favorites on Ravelry. ❤️💙
Malene, I love every one of the socks you showed today. I probably love every sock you’ve ever knitted, but I haven’t watched all your episodes yet! I am finishing my second pair of socks, and simply can’t get enough sock knitting videos, so this episode made me very happy. Since I’m so inexperienced, I don’t know many patterns personally, but I can tell you that the one I knitted with a ribbed leg nearly drove me crazy. I do not like ribbing. I totally love a vanilla sock, though, so that’s what I plan to do until I’m tired of them.
Take care of yourself, dear! Sounds like. You’ve been super busy, but don’t forget how much better the world looks when you’re properly rested.
Thank you Carole! I can't tell you how much your message has warmed my heart:-) Happy Summer and happy sock knitting!
Happy summer ! I am enjoying winter in the southern hemisphere for our summer holidays and knitting socks! Love that yarn you are gifting. I would either make a Venezia shawl (by Joji Locatelli) or a pair of socks but what pattern is tough as I go with whatever strikes my fancy (and brain space) at the time. I have never made the Everyday Hermione socks so maybe those! Thanks for sharing your time and makes.
Thank you for watching:-)
My favorite socks to knit are shortie vanilla socks with contrast heel toe and cuff. Top down of course! I thoroughly enjoy your podcasts ❤️
Thank you Sally!
Great socks! I don't have a favorite sock pattern because I don't like to knit the same socks a second time.
Hi! Am especially enjoying this podcast as I am finally learning how to knit socks. I’m doing a top down, have turned the heel and am working the foot. It won’t be beautiful, but I did it! Thanks for your sharing your life!
That's amazing! I'm sure your socks will be just perfect. So cool that you are diving into sock knitting:-)
I loved seeing all the beautiful socks in this episode and seeing the progress on the throw blanket.
My favorite sock to knit is definitely a plain vanilla sock but I love making the color palette socks when I have scraps to use up.
Thank you for your podcast, you are such a prolific sock knitter. I love the different ribs on the shortie socks that you showed,
My favourite socks are vanilla socks or the monkey socks which is an old pattern but very pretty.
Thank you!
My go to sock pattern is definitely always a Vanilla sock on DPNs by the crazy sock lady 💕
Thank you again for a lovely episode, you really inspire me with all the wonderful socks you are making! I don´t have a special favorite pattern, mostly I make just vanilla socks, or with stripes. But one of my favourite sock designers is Tracie Millar, and I´m knitting 12 of her patterns this year. All her patterns are so nice!
Have a nice summer! Hugs! Lotte
Thank you so much Lotte! I'll have to check her patterns out:-) Hugs!
Love all your socks, my favorite pattern for socks is the Crazy Sock Ladies vanilla socks on 9 inch Circulars.
Thank you for lovely inspiration. My favorite sock pattern is simple vanilla socks ❤️
I am newer to knitting socks but so far my favorite would be Kay Lynton's Vanilla Socks though the pair I just finished combined 2 patterns plus a cuff of my own. My Watermeleon Basket Socks.
I love vanilla socks. I just finished a pair of “wrap ‘em all” socks. I’m in love with the garter heel and star toe. They fit my foot perfectly! I’m going to start the Dragonfly shorties, but I’m doing the garter heel and star toe. I love your patterns. They are so easy to follow. Thank you!
Thank you! I'm so happy that you like the patterns:-) We really appreciate your support!
Good morning Marlene. I always enjoy your podcasts.
I enjoy knitting vanilla socks because I take the with me when I go out anywhere. Vanilla socks are easy to knit in conversation, while waiting, and in any event. I wear boots in the winter so they are hidden away often.
Thank you Debra!
I like to knit texture patterns on my socks. They fit better on me than a vanilla sock. I have knitted the Blueberry Waffle Socks several times. I also like to knit Heel Toe Do Si Do by Kaye Litton on self-striping yarns.
So much eye candy in this episode ❤ I’m working my way through the book 52 Weeks of Socks. I’m only at number 14 so I haven’t decided on my favourite yet. They are all so beautiful it’s a joy to have this book. 😊
I have that book too and have not knitting many. Thank you for reminding me of it:-)
Hi Marlene, I love so many sock patterns, so I'll just say that my latest finished one was the 'All Is calm' by Kay from the Bakery Bears. 💗
Thank you so much for amazing inspiration 🧶❤️ I love all the beautiful colours you knit with and I have recently knitted a pair by Summer Lee called the Hibernal socks it’s my new favorite Sock they are georgeous 🥰🧶 on a bygger needle than I’m used to but such a joy to knit and i have already decided to knit up more for gifts to Christmas ❤️
What an amazing gift to give:-)
I don’t have a favourite sock pattern yet 😊 That yarn is gorgeous! I think I’d knit the Venezia Shawl by Joji Locatelli with that yarn! Thanks for all you do! Greetings from your old stomping grounds on the shores of Lake Superior! Today finally we will get some summer weather! ❤
Thank you! It's so nice to get a message from my second home:-) Have a wonderful Summer!
Hi Malene, You do an amazing job at sharing all your knitting projects. You make sock knitting look so easy. I do like knitting socks as gifts for people I value in my life but I also seem to take much longer and tend to stick to simple vanilla socks in hopes to get more socks finished. Every recipient has been extremely appreciative. of the gift. if you have any ideas to make sock knitting less effortful do share in your next podcast. Wishing you the very best my knitting friend.
Thank you for all your sweet words Anita!! What a generous gift to knit socks for your loved ones:-) I don't really know if I have any tips to make it go faster. I'll have to think about that:-) Take care!
@@ThePlayfulKnitter Hi Malene, Thanks for your recent podcast. I enjoyed it and was thrilled to hear my name as a winner for one of your giveaways. That's exciting. I haven't had such luck in a very long time. This will be a new yarn for me. I am on instagram, but not familiar on how to use it. I have been trying to send you a text message , but it says an invite has been sent and does not let me proceed with sending you a text message. Hence I am trying to reach out to you, through TH-cam. Hope this gets to you. Happy knitting and creating my friend.
@@anitafernandes2787 Hi Anita
Thank you for reaching out. If you let me know your Instagram name, I’ll send you a message and we’ll get your price sent to you😊 So happy you’ve seen it and congratulations😃
What a prodigious sock output, Malene - I am impressed! I was interested to see your Stephen West socks as earlier today I bought the Westknit Year of Socks book 2024 which includes both patterns. Synchronicity in action as always.
So difficult to choose a favourite sock pattern. At the moment I love the Get Shorty Ribbed by Irene Designs and also the Gudrun sock (no picking up stitches on either). For my partner I love the Decathlon Garter Rib Socks by Sue Granfield. Linda, UK 💕🧶🧦🐈⬛💕
How fun! There are so many fun patterns in the Year of Socks. Happy Knitting:-)
I would knit the Fairground Socks by Kay Jones, and by the An Italian Knitter, a shawl that is called An Italian Summer Scarf, is a free pattern on Revelry. I love all your socks
Hi there on this sunny day.
I think i woud knit the simple spiral socks again.
I have not been knitting socks very long so vanilla socks are my usual but am ready to branch out and try something new. I love the Dragonfly shorties you showed that may be the one I try next.
That sounds amazing! Thank you😊 Happy Knitting🎵💖
My favourite pattern is the hermione’s everyday socks - a little bit of texture but not too much that it competes with a speckled or variegated yarns. I would be interested to hear how the heel on the Gudrun socks fits on your foot. It looks very interesting but would be great in self striping yarns.
The Hermione Socks are so much fun and a great pattern! I like the way the Gudrun socks fit. The little cup gives you a bit more room, so even though they don't fit like a heel flap and gusset, they still sit really nicely on the foot:-)
Oooo! Your Fancing Droplets socks coloring looks very Van Gogh!
Thank you!
😻💕 wow! So many finished objects! Socks are such a lovely thing to pop in the post to send to someone and let them know your thinking of them. I've sent two pairs out in the last couple of weeks to friends starting chemo.
My favourite pattern is the candy cane vanilla sock pattern by winwick mum. It's a free download on ravelry. I do 64 stitches 20 rows of 2x2 rib, 60 rounds on the leg and a slip stitch heel flap and gusset
Really want to try a lacy sock next though.😺🌹
What a kind gift to give!
For Sock Madness 18 this year I knit Yttygran Socks by Anna Zhuravleva. It is a beautiful design which was challenging for me. That’s my favourite as of now.
Hi Malene,
My favorite sock pattern for the moment are Scrappy quilt socks by Kay Jones. Such beautiful yarn I would use on the pattern Heel toe do si do by Kay Litton. Thank you again for so much inspiration 😊.
Thank you! Kay has so many beautiful and inspiring patterns:-)
Oh what a fabulous sock parade you treated us to today! I “ooohed and aaahed” over all of them. For my charity giveaway socks I like to knit either 2x2 or 3x1 ribbed socks with a slip-stitch heel flap and gusset (not a pattern really). For patterned socks for those skeins of beautiful hand-dyed yarns I don’t really have a favorite pattern as a “current favorite designer” which at the moment is Nancy Wheeler. I have knit so many of her lovely socks and I honestly could not tell you which of her patterns is my favorite! Thanks for the very enjoyable video. Until the next time. Salam wa sa’aadah
Nancy's patterns are amazing! I want to knit so many of them:-) Thank you for watching!
I mostly knit vanilla socks, but I like the Color palette sock pattern too.
Just found your pod 😊 like you I love to knit socks. I love to try out new patterns every time so I don’t have one favorite sock pattern … have many favorite designers too so I can not choose, but enjoy Gaby Langers pattern
I know exactly what you mean:-) So many socks to knit!
Hi Malene,
I so enjoyed watching all of your socks parade - such an inspiration! And it was so cool to be twinning with your yellow vibe! I'm spinning some yellow fibre for Tour de Fleece and watching you say that you are in a yellow mood made me smile!
My favourite sock pattern at the moment is Caramel sauce socks by Joji Locatelli, but I would also like to try the Study in slip socks by Laura Fahlin - they are so cool!
Thank you for all the inspiration and again congrats on reaching 5k! Soon it'll be 6k!!
Greetings from New Zealand,
Marina
Thank you so much Marina! I loved seeing your yellow fleece💛☀️🎵
I love watching your podcasts. I will keep watching and can’t wait until you have some of those breast cancer ribbon bags available. For purchase my mom had breast cancer 21 years ago. She has sense past from stomach cancer. But I still do our local breast cancer walk every year and would love to have one in memory of her.
I'm so sorry for your loss! Cancer - no matter which kind - is just a terrible illness! Thank you so much for watching and leaving me a comment:-)
My favourite sock pattern at the moment is Banana socks. I am a wheelchair user, as is a close friend, and they are perfect for people with limited mobility.
Jinny - UK😊
Thank you Jinny! I will check them out right away:-)
My cat goes on the counter and knocks things off when he wants attention 😂
Lately I’ve been loving a plain vanilla sock. I do mine with a 20 round cuff and 60 round leg.
Oh those cats! So annoying (in the best meaning of course:-)) sometimes, but such a joy to have in your life:-)
Hi Malene. So many socks. Congratulations. I would use this beautifull skein as mc for the gelato socks by Stone knits.
I bought your dragonfly pattern I can’t wait to make it. I like to knit any kind of lace sock.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for a lovely podcast 🙏 My favourite sock pattern at the moment is ryelightsocks from Tincanknit 😊
I do not have a favourite sock pattern, they are all so beautiful.
I couldn't agree more:-)
I would knit the leafette shawl it’s a one skein free pattern on ravelry lovely to see you x
❤❤love all the socks,,,!!!love summer sock camp,,,,and that yarn is gorgeous,,,,
I like a simple pattern but just fell in love with the scrappy quilt socks from Kay Jones of the bakery bears,,,!!!!
I have already made 2 pairs and started another 🎉🎉🎉
Also love Kay littons sock patterns,,,,,morning coffee socks,,,,heel toe do si do,,,,,,
Love ur podcasts,,,,socks,,,socks ,,, 🧦🧦 p
Thanks so much
Elaine 🏠💕
Thank you for the wonderful recommendations!
Lovely podcast you have, difficult question what is your favorite sock pattern because I love most of the sock patterns.
But the most favorite are the fairground socks and the scrappy quilt socks from Kay Jones of the Bakery Bears.
The rhinebeckroomies and the sweatheartsocks from the crazysocklady.
I have only knit cuff down, heel flap and gusset socks so far, but I'm hoping to be able to try toe up and maybe a different heel during summer sock camp! Right now I'm making the Wyatt Socks by Crazy Sock Lady.
Kay's patterns are so well written and the Wyatt socks are just too cute:-)
I’m starting my very first pair of socks with the Rust pattern by Tin Can Knits, wish me luck! I’m really enjoying right now, little anxiety over the upcoming heel 😂
I wish you the best of luck🤩 I’m sure everything will go perfectly🎵💖
I love all kinds of socks, but lately i’m Into knitting socks with eyelet patterns.
The beautiful yarn giftet would also display beautifully in a Venezia shawl by Joji Locatelli 🩷💛
It really would🎵💖
You are an amazing knitter!
Thank you!
With hand dyed yarn, I will always use a vanilla sock pattern to allow the yarn to be the star of the show. For solid or tonal colorways, I will choose something with texture. For some reason I am not partial to lacy socks. Maybe because I walk or hike seven kilometers a day, so my feet are always inside boots. 🙂
I couldn't agree more:-) Vanilla socks are great!
I did not knit socks for a long time and as a lucky winner I would knit Vanilla Socks out of this wunderful yarn.🎉
Hallo Malene! Thank you for your inspiring Videos. One of my favorite sock patterns is Heel Toe Do Si Do from crazysocklady. But if I would win this lovely skein I would knit the Sugar Sprinkles Skawl by Sharyn Anhalt.
My favourite sock pattern is Hermione‘s everyday socks by Erica Lueder ❤
It is not original, but for now, my favorite sock pattern is the Vanilla socks by the Crazy Sock Lady. I do the 9" circular version. But my next challenge will be to knit colorwork socks, because they are just sooooo pretty !
Colorwork socks are amazing🤩I still haven’t found my courage to do a full pair🙈 Happy Knitting🎵💖
I don't have a favorite pattern for socks. I will knit any sock pattern or just a vanilla sock. I'm not picky at all - I just love knitting socks!
Sock, socks, and more socks...you have really done well so far. Do your hands hurt after long bouts of knitting? As a pianist and knitter, I'm guessing that you have some tried and true exercises. Can you share some simple ones that you do please? See you next month. 💖
Thank you! You are right that I do use my hands quite a bit, but as long as I knit socks I seem to be ok. If I get a pain it's more likely to be in my elbow and mostly when I knit on larger needles. So no specific exercises I'm afraid:-)
Hi Malene. My favorite sock pattern is the crazy sock lady's vanilla sock, but I have been searching for a pattern with a diamond stitch and I can't find one!
I'll have to keep an eye out. I've seen socks with diamond patterns, but can't remember from which designer. If I find them I'll mention it on the podcast:-)
Currently I'm in my stockinette socks era😅Really like to make a contrast cuff, heel and toe!
An absolutely amazing era😍😍😍
The yarn would be perfect for Blooming Socks by Lisa Benedicte Knit 🤩 I have my 2nd pair on the needles and would love a summery 3rd pair the beautiful Ladybug yarn 🐞💜
They sound beautiful! I must check them out right away:-)
@@ThePlayfulKnitter They were part of Jaffelaf's KAL back in 2022 🤩 They er quite simple, yet effectful - and perfect for speckled yarns 🧦🧶💜
Hello from Swansea, Illinois. Love all of your socks, I knit a lot of socks. Mostly vanilla socks some pattern. I would love to have one of your breast cancer bags, as I just had breast cancer surgery. You play the piano beautifully.
Thank you so much Jane!
Vanilla socks 9 out of 10 times - but with a left foot toe shape and a right foot toe shape.
Takk for koselig episode.
Nice
Søde søde Malene❤ thanks for mentioning gudrunsocks❤
Thanks for the episode, so inspiring to see all of your socks! I love to knit socks, both vanilla, lace and colourwork. If I long for something relaxing, I always choose a nice yarn and just knit vanilla socks 🌸 Greetings from Sweden! /Annelie @powerofwool
Nothing better than a bit of vanilla knitting when you need to relax:-) Thank you for your sweet comment and your inspiring podcast!
