@@alfredoarizmendi1648 Thats my only pet peeve, the 2015-2020 tailights are so badass and IMO beautiful but I can't stand the headlights. Looks too european for a American muscle car. 2010-2014 body ftw
Did you get it ? I got my 2013 Mustang GT Premium a month ago I’m just in love I had an 04 GT but this car is my dream car could’ve went s550 but I just love the muscle look the 13-14 have and fog lights and rear tail lights are just perfect to me I plan on getting a 2019 or newer later on but had to get me 13-14 GT beautiful car.
@@WiseUpRiseUp42 yooooo Its crazy i posted this comment 5 years ago. I owned a 2017 v6 guard metallic from 2019-2022 and then bought an s550 5.0 in 2022 and still have it. I guess dreams do come true 😃 Your comment made me realize im having a good life Thanks brodie
This (2013-14) is the Mustang model Ford should've kept for its lifetime as the base design for the Mustang. Like the Porsche 911 Carrera or the Harley Davidson motorcycle its shape is universally recognizable the world over. Ford could've just kept refining the the 2014 Mustang with its famous iconic shape.
Boy, well-said! I've driven one of the newer Mustang GTs, and while it is an amazing car, performance-wise, it didn't feel like a Mustang to me. Felt more like a European car. I'd have been happy if Ford had simply upgraded the existing 2013-2014 look and maybe added IRS. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Positively hate the front end on the new Mustangs - looks terrible.
Test-drove one of the new Mustang GTs, and while they're nice-enough cars, and fast, they aren't as nice as that 40K sticker price. They don't feel like a Mustang, either. The one I drove looked and felt more like a European sports coupe, than an American pony car. Last but not least, if FMC is going to charge that much coin for the car, they could at least design a unique front end for it and not simply slap a Focus grill on it!
Not just that bro but definitely those were some of the best years for people to own muscle cars because you got these badass mustangs, you got those nice camaros, and then you got those chargers that definitely upgraded their tail lights 💯
@@timetofl0at340 not much just always do your oil change on time, I do every 5k miles or 6 months whatever comes first. Replace filters when you do an oil change just to stay on schedule. I’m in California so I can’t really mod my car and pass smog so I just replaced the stock filters with K&N washable filters and they haven’t failed me yet. I clean them when I do my oil changes. I do my spark plugs every 30k miles so I’ve only done them once since I got my car in 2015 but it’ll be coming up probably in a year and a half. Also be sure to check your coolant. I’d probably do a flush if I were you just because the car is almost 10 years old. I’d also test the battery and since it’s free the alternator to be safe. I upgraded my battery from the standard to a max motor craft from the dealer. Same size just a little stronger. I got mine in October 2015 preowned from the dealer. It was a loaner given out by the dealer while your car was in the shop. I got it with almost 70k miles. It’s my daily and I currently am about to hit 118k sometime next year. My issues have been: - weak starter motor - AC system (I’m 200lbs in California I have my AC on max literally 10 months out of the year so I wasn’t upset) - I have this weird crackle/tick when I rev my car in neutral to about 2500 RPM. It only happens in the summer when it’s over 90 degrees. Taken it to 2 shops and a dozen mechanics and they don’t know what it is and otherwise the engine is strong so I’m just not worried about it. - clear coat fades on the trunk deck lid. Literally every one of our cars I’ve seen has this issue. Online, in person I’ve seen hundreds if not thousands and they’ve all had it. Most people don’t care, some people just have that repainted/wrapped. - driver side tail light breaking. Your taillights last the life of the vehicle according to Ford. It’s an all in one LED housing so if yours breaks and gets water damage you’re SOL. I got aftermarket ones since OEM are over $900 when not on sale if I remember correctly. - my thermostat housing leaks coolant literally about 3-4 drops a month. For years I couldn’t find where it leaked because it was such a small amount. Finally found where this year. Ordered the T connector and got aftermarket silicon hoses to upgrade. - my rear pinion seal was leaking. Quick fix. - my car is a custom premium GT with some CS options that the dealer selected. My matte black stripe decals are sun faded. They were sun faded when I got the car. Just a product of the dealer not detailing the car and just using water to wash it. Overall I’ve been very lucky with my car. Aside from a few burnouts, pulls and donuts I don’t push the car and rarely red line it. And since it’s my daily I quickly know when something is going wrong. If all goes well I should be getting a V6 SN95 as my daily soon and I can finally be able to keep my 13 as a weekend/vacation car. I’m also going to take it to Las Vegas for thanksgiving in a week and a half so that should be fun.
@@timetofl0at340 also personally I always get high octane fuel. Here in CA it’s difficult to find anything over 91 but when I’ve gone to other cities or states I’ll get 93. Since I’ve had it it’s only had 87 once when I let my mother drive it while I was on vacation. She wanted to fill it up bless her heart but she got 87 lol. Car ran fine but it did hesitate to accelerate a few times. Nothing serious just a byproduct of lesser burning fuel. Also not sure if it truly makes a difference or not but at least once a month I get chevron with Techron or the shell v-power. I’ve read both that it doesn’t matter where you get your gas and that it does matter where you get your gas so I usually get Sinclair or Exxon Mobil since they’re closest to my house but once a month I’ll go out of my way for chevron/shell since theirs is supposed to have the cleaner with their gas. Our fuel filters are built in that last the life of the vehicle as well so that’s why I use a cleaner at least once a month. As far as I’m aware it’s been working for me and I have no issues.
I have to agree, Jacob. They were instant classics when they started rolling off the line in the Summer of 2012. I love all the S197s, but the '13-'14s are without a doubt the best.
For model years 13-14 not all Brembo brake cars are considered "Track Pack" cars. Those are just Brembo package cars. True track pack cars for years 13-14 came with Brembo bake package and 3.73 gears with a Torsen diff from the Boss 302, Boss 302 radiator and the Boss 302 oil cooler. I believe they also had gt500 springs. All "Track Pack" cars for those years used 5w-50 oil full synthetic as stated on the oil cap. These cars were pretty much budget Boss cars. They are somewhat rare because I do own one, and its very hard to find a real "Track Pack" car. Also Ford doesn't have an exact number of how many cars were built as "Track Pack" car options.
I definitely like the headlights and taillights better on the 2013 and 14. I ended up getting a 2012 lava red Track Pack that I thought was black, after doing research I ended up finding out I got a rare car. The only made 519 coups and I love this color. Either way you look at it the 11-14 is the best-looking Mustang in my opinion.
No track option on 11 ,12 had brem o wheels package..which was part of the 13 14 track pack ..I had a 14 track pack..quad tips weren't standard...i always said it was a poor man's boss 302....
I bought my 14 new, base model GT with MT82. I had the high rpm lock out on the 2 to 3 shift, I fixed it with a blowfish racing shifter bracket. At 52k miles I put on a roush stage 1 supercharger kit, I run the roush tune which leaves power on the table but I drive it hard, I have 93k miles now and haven’t broken anything. When the engine does go I’ll probably put a 15 to 17 long block in it that with my roush blower should make 670 flywheel hp.
Yes. It is the last traditional muscle car mustang. I bought my 2013 GT two years ago. I cannot think why would I ever need another car. The only thing I might do is to do the flexfuel conversion to save on possible enviromental taxes that might come to older cars in few years. And flexfuel conversion gets also some more power. Also to improve GT aspects, I might add some sound insulation to trunk.
I love the 11-14 because there not sold world wide like the 15-previous models and I do think they look better also, but they do have a huge flaw with the traction/stability control unit on them
'13 GT premium/Brembo owner here - another advantage to these cars (at least to me, LOL) is these are the last years that have a physical KEY! I dont want to be disabled somewhere because my key fob battery died! My only real complaint about these cars is the stock rear suspension - love the live axle, but it's nothing like the leaf spring ones from the 60s. Yes, the new setup rides and handles better BUT it's not near as predictable as the old ones. I could literally make my old '69 Mach 1 dance - the new car (stock) does what IT wants. Any suggestions on how to make it more stable off the line?
I think the 13-14 is a very nice mix of classic and modern, especially the GT500s. I fell in love with the 15-17 though off the bat. I hated the front of the 18 at first but when I saw it with the PP2 it is a whole different car. Its growing on me a lot.
I bought a white 2014 GT Premium Convertible with the Brembo brake and tech package. This is my second 2014 Gt Premium. Couldn't convince myself to get a S550.
On my second 2014 GT Premium as well. Picked up my Ruby Red Metallic 2014 GT Premium Track Pack with the Tech Package as well, basically got every option possible except for the Recaros. @uhoh5oh on instagram! (went to the dealership to buy an s550 and left with it instead)
I had a race red 2013 mustang GT, as can be scene in the photo next to this. Lol. I loved it. Most beautiful car I’d ever seen, had 30k miles. 6 speed, premium. And one faithful night it was rear ended and totaled because someone’s text message was really important! Been 6 months and some change since, I hope I can find another 13’ that nice.
i see them weekly on facebook .... on forums prices are way off , way up ..... go on fb and you'd be suprised what u can find for how much .... what year and miles you guys looking for ?? and what do u consider a good deal ? ..we can all have different thoughts , wanted to check .... i have a 14 pretty heavily modified so i am always looking at what people sell and as of late i see a TON of car for what i consider to be low ... i mean boosted coyote mid 20s or a hair more depending ... to me thats pretty cheap
The 13-14 mustang is just the perfect mustang in my opinion, it’s damn near perfect in styling so beautiful! I have a 12 coyote and for sure will be doing a 13-14 headlight and taillight conversion.. close enough lol
My favorite modern body style of the Mustang. I don’t think they sold a whole lot of Mustangs those two years either, so if they do become desirable in the future, they would have more value because there’s not quite as many of them. Plus, you know, last years of the solid rear axle.
I agree with many of your points, but with mine being the Cali. Special, other than the taillights, its low production numbers for 2012 and my car being #1 of all CS built, I think I did alright, oh and yes a 6spd!
Thanks was just dumb luck, bought it at a dealer in 13' they had no idea, neither did i. Was browsing the internet 1 night ran across a list of CS registry numbers and thought the Vin looked like mine, I ordered a certificate from the registry which was still run thru Ford racing at the time, and they confirmed it. It was also the only pre-production model produced that year , so kind of 1 of 1. Anyway look forward to more content, hopefully I can post a walk around, I'm real new to this stuff.
Agreed with you on the s197 becoming a collectors. Which is why you should've replaced your decklid with a OEM/stock one instead. Mines peeling on the clearcoat as well but I'd suggest just getting it repainted. For collector and value reasons.
Cobra jet twin 67mm TB PMAS CAI, full length headers. 47lb injectors bois a pump, lund racing flex fuel tube. 170 tstat boss oil cooler, boss alternator, chromoly flywheel, rst clutch, gforce drivshaft, oil seperator, cj ign pulse ring, boss radiator, gt500 fan. Thats a realy qick rundown, i have many more mods. A quick reference to the rwhp
2013-2014 Mustang I'd say has the third best rear end. 1. '67-'68 Fastback 2. '15-current 3. '13-'14 I love the rear of the 2013-2014, especially on my dad's Shelby, but the 1967-1968 Fastback has one of the best rears of any car ever made IMO
Watching this in 2020 trying to find a reasonably priced 13-14 5.0 It’s like no one can agree on what their value should be. I can find automatics for a reasonable 16k all day but as soon as I find a manual with more miles even it cost like 20-22k. Working so hard to make my dream happen, but the sate of the world right now has the market messed up.
Really??? I'm having the opposite issue..manuals or as common as ants inside an ant hill but finding an automatic that's not salavage or high on mileage is next to impossible.
@@JonFox1945 well like I said I found manuals often but they we’re overpriced 100% of the time or someone beat on them hard. As gas is getting high I’ve given up in the meantime. Should be going to buy an 86 I made a deal on soon.
I’ve got a 14 GT/CS triple black, FBO. 463rwhp. Sealed motor built rear end clutch full suspension. Has 12k miles. I bought it new. 3:73 boss radiatior, every option other than back uo cameras or sensors, no my touch screen, has a solid roof, with an MT82. I plan on keeping mine forever. Have less than 2 years left to pay on it. I luv it!
Nice! I almost bought 2 different ones but whoever had them before didn’t treat them right, one had frame damage for 20k and the other had 200,000 for 20k
Had a 2012 Mustang V6. It was a fun car. I upgraded to a 2017 Mustang GT last year. The S550 is a much better driving car and the interior quality is far better than my 2012. Can't go wrong with a 13-14 either.
Interior is wayy better but drive both 5.0s and tell me which one you like. The only problem is that most S550s are newer and have been taken care of better than clapped out 13-14s.
2013-14 Stangs GT won't be expensive and much less become a collectors item there are too many of them, unless it's a Shelby, Boss 302 or California Special the prices will go down like a meteor because gas prices.
Jacob R. Doty I have a '13 GT I love. I don't like the '15 and newer. I'm not really concerned about resale price because I plan on keeping it forever.
frajnai frajnai That's because fox bodies were beaten and abused like no other Mustang. Go down to a local drag strip and see how many fox bodies are there racing. They're like the ak47 of street racing. As a result, it is much harder to find one that wasn't abused and still in good condition. That really isn't the case for these 2013-14 GT's . They aren't being abused nearly as much as the foxbodies were and so finding one in good condition probably won't be as hard in 20+ years. Just look at the New Edge mustangs, you can still find a decent new edge (which I did) and not pay a crap ton of money for it. Because they made a lot, and weren't all beaten on the track/road. In my opinion, the only cars that will see a noticeable increase in value for these newer mustangs, are the special editions. So, Boss, Shelby, etc. type of Mustangs. Only because there weren't as many made.
I have a 2012 v6 3.7 grabber blue mustang and I absolutely love it. You're right dude they are going to become classics, I think Ford did a good job of modernizing the classic muscle car look.
The 2011-2014 mustang is such an old school look. So many concepts transferred from the 67-68 model year fastback. I believe in ten years this cars value will probably double if even triple do to its classic but modern looking design. I’ve been searching for one of these models with a manual but every time I’m about to get my hand on one it gets sold. They’re so highly sought after cus of that retro look. Not to mention 400-430hp for that generation. Not that much power difference in the 2015-2020s. Couple mods would easily bring it up to match the power of the newer models and you won’t seriously bang your wallet for it
MySHAQ18 what should you go for? How about stop acting like a puss and go for the one you like. Who gives a shit what someone else likes, your driving the damn thing. I bought the 17 just because they finally nailed it that year. But that's my opinion. Someone else might have a different opinion. All I can tell you is that I have a 17 with 4k miles on it, and I absolutely love it. I've had the suspension replaced by Ford with the performance track suspension, power pack 2 (cai, 85mm throttle body, tune), borla cat back with x pipe, 20" wheels, ect. It sounds amazing and looks even better in artic white. I get compliments on a daily basis. Moral of the story brotha is buy what calls you. Don't worry about other people's opinions. But just make sure it's a mustang. 👍🏻
If I was to buy the 13 - 14 I would want to buy the GT Premium with the glass roof. Thats what I would look for. Loved those cars. Preferable in blue, red, gabber blue or metallic grey.
@@JacobRDoty I stand corrected. I'm an 13 gt owner myself and didn't realize. I agree with you on the prices eventually going up after all they only sold 77k 2013.
As cool as the 14 looks, I doesn't compete with the 17. Front to back, the car is beautiful. Especially how it's sits lower from installing the Ford performance track suspension, and borla exhaust, the view from the back is menacing. I get compliments on a daily basis.
I think you're going to see a similar situation with the 2013-2014 Mustang GT that we've seen with the Terminator Cobras. I think these cars have hit the bottom of the deprecation curve, and from here on out should hold their value pretty strongly. In 5-10 years from now non-modified and low mileage cars will command top dollar, just like the Terminators. Rare colors such as grabber blue and ruby red will be the most desired colors. Most people I know adore the 2013-2014 Styling, while it seems to be mixed feelings with the 2015+ cars. These cars in stock form are a handful for a lot of inexperienced drivers and are trashed and wrecked almost everyday, so finding a nice examples is going to be a task in the future. I remember in the 80s and 90s when people told me the Foxbody cars will never be worth anything. Try finding a low mileage and completely stock 5.0 5-speed 89-93 Coupe. If you do find one, you're going to pay crazy money. The 2013-2014 will be no different, so you're right, now is the time to buy.
I loved my S197. It made 847rwhp by the time I sold it. It was fast and fun. But man, it feels like a truck compared to newer platform cars (S550, Alpha, etc), not to mention the refinement and overall quality improvements beyond the S197. They are cheap, fun cars though.
Or you can also get a 2012 mustang gt and change out the headlights and taillights like i did and it has just about the same look for cheaper if you can find it. I have a video up of me changing the taillights and it works
In my area the v6 and V8 have gone up in price. I bought my car for 13,500 with 41,000 miles. And now the same trime and engine they got it up to 15 and rising
Dude, i definitely agree with you. The 2013-14 mustang has the best design over all. I have a 2014 MCA edition, full dress. It's not a 5.0 but still great car.
I have a 2012 gt and have owned it for over 6 years now and it performs great. Also your car is absolutely beautiful and I hope you get to enjoy it for a long time.
I get the feeling that you have never driven an S550? Lol.. I like the 13-14 S197 but it's such a dated platform (over 10 years old mind you).. The S550 is literally better in every single way... keyless go, track apps, driving modes, more aggressive styling, handles better, rides better, more comfortable, lower and wider, interior is nicer with better materials and it looks more retro in terms of style, the ergonomics are way better.. seats are better, seat position is better (sit a bit lower), steering wheel is nicer with better materials and a smaller diameter making it sportier and tilt/telescoping, gauges are way nicer and more classic, visibility is better and let's not forget the Gen 2 Coyote in the S550 is a much more stout motor, nevermind the Gen 3 which is lightyears better. I mean really.. the only reason to get a 13-14 is if you can find a used one at a good price (15-19k).. if I could I would consider it but every 13-14 I see currently is selling for about $2k less ($22-$24k) than a used 15-17 ($24-$26k) which makes no sense to me... I rather save up a little more and get a used 15-17 GT which is a much better car in every way possible other than weight.
Test drove a 2017 PP before buying my car. All blacked out, leather. Keep it mind my mom has had 3 S197s. I just plain liked the s197 more after driving it. Of course there are interior upgrades that are better, which I didn’t even mention here. I agree there, but outside and SRA and the coyote is stout, like someone else said as long as it’s a coyote they can all be built and modded all about the same. It’s our trans that will grenade first. Keyless entry would be nice though...13-14s had Track apps on the premiums. All relative cause I hate the leather seats after getting cloth. They have zero bolstering compared to mine. I think it’s something to do with when they stretch it over the foam to keep the leather wrinkle free
Yeah I wasn't referring to the premium upgrades just overall base to base features.. like I said tho, I do like the 13-14 s197.. and if I could find one in decent shape at a reasonable price I'd strongly consider it.. would be an awesome project car just to play around with.. hell I got 3 years left on my 16 ecoboost loan but I'm almost done paying it off, might look into s197's again Lol.
Drive both man! That's all I can say. It's like why do some people prefer an e92 vs F30 m3. Just totally different cars. But whatever it is, make it a 5.0 ;)
Sigrafix drove a ton of mustangs and things like seating positioning, riding comfort as well as material quality are all pretty moot points. Those are oppion based. Now I might say a s550 handles better in stock format but you prefer the s550 to the s197. The newer coyote engine is a little better I mean big whoop still making over 400hp. 🤷♂️ also besides the infotainment system I would choose a s197 over a s550 also my friend you gotta check the meaning of "retro". Also a 3% increase is impressive but depending on use a s197 will get the job done. Also the only major difference in these cars is the sheet metal any piece can be changed, if IRS is so great what if someone built an IRS set up for a s197?
I came from an S197 and decided to get into a S550 and i think the 13-14’s are amazing cars but the 15-17 with the redesign and more importantly new suspension may no longer be a “muscle car” but will be a future collector in my opinion at least the GT premium cars
man i disagree, i so often hear how badly the last gen mustang ages, i highly doubt that the prices will skyrocket. for a car with solid rear axle? no..
Solid rear axle is a benefit for straight line speed. Also, a watts rear end for 900$ will make the SRA a strong contender on a road course vs an IRS car.
I bought my 14’ 3.7 over a year ago, and since I’ve noticed the prices fluctuate but slowly rise in my area. I’m starting to find a few s550’s for cheaper as the prices raise. The 13-14’s are starting to gain value and become a classic as you said.
Just came across your video and I just want to say that your ride looks amazing. Sleek and definitely a head turner! You've gained my subscription! Can't wait to see your future vids! Keep up the great work!
I agree with everything with the exception being I think the 07-09 GT/CS with the HID lights are the best looking Mustang ever built. Just wish they put the Coyote in there.
Two year old video and still relevant as hell. I’m glad I came across your channel. I haven’t had a mustang in 15yrs and I am now in the market for another one. Keep going back in forth between the 14-15. The 14 though just mean looking in appearance. 13-14 are still fairly pricey on FB market place averaging 18-21k for lower mileage.
Any 11-14 will be a nice car to hang on to. The 11-12 have a more brute-retro fit style, and the 13-14 modernize it up a little bit before the s550 redesign with a GT500 style look. I love em all. I converted my 11 to a 13 rear end and put a saleen grille/cobra r hood on it. Thats the best part about Mustangs. There is such a huge mod market, you can make it unique and your own.
def keeping my 2014 until I run it to the ground! yeah, it's only a 3.7, but I love her. It totally feels outdated nowadays compared to the new design (especially the shaker radio now) but it does look pretty awesome!
I have a 2014 GT auto with 146K on it, and it's my favorite of all the newer Mustangs. My dad has a 2011 GT auto as well with only 61K miles on it. These cars are special to me because they were almost like a rebirth of the old Foxbody Mustangs because of the 5.0 and live rear axle. I love mine. I wish I could afford a daily driver to keep the miles off my car. Mods to mine are 3.55 gears, DSS aluminum driveshaft, and flowmaster scavenger X pipe which I do not recommend because the quality is not very good as I still have an exhaust leak the comes and goes. I also have borla s type mufflers which the previous owner installed which I love.
Hey man it's still a great car. brembo rebuilds are on amazon for about 160 bucks or so each side. Do that, fluid, and stainless line and you're set. Trackpacks and even GT500s only have front brembos.
I think you kinda misspoke. I think you should have included all the S197 cars as being the next "classic". The 2010-12 can be retro-fitted to look like a 13/14. The cyl #8 problem was fixed with a coolant cross-over between the rear of the heads. None of the coyote's are really that reliable (Ford is still having endemic issues with them). I like the front end on the 2010-12, but the taillights of the 13/14 (and I've got 13/14 taillights on my 2012). I also put Brembo's on it. My car was originally a V6/auto, but I motor swapped it with a 427 Windsor stroker and a Tremec Magnum XL. The only thing still stock on the car is the fuel tank (fuel pump is Fore innovations unit) and the rear end housing (I don't count welded axle tubes as an actual mod).
Driving a 2010 Mustang GT Premium ( the one with the 11-12 style but the old 4.6L engine ) and i have to agree that the 13-14 taillights look good. I'd love to have them too but they are way too expensive so i just dipped my taillights and foglights in smoke for now. Had the chance to get a closer look at some S550 and i must say they really look good too. Can't wait to see an 18 up close in person to judge if they ruined the front with the droopy headlights or not.
These will not go up in price until many years later. Prices will go down but I don't think they will be as low as other mustangs get but I could be wrong. They just sold a 2016 5.0 in my area for 7.5k and it had 1k miles on it. Talk about the deal of the century lol
Yeah that was a very very rare instance. I would have bought it within seconds if it was clean title and available for sale. Send me the account and routing numbers and it’s mine
not trying to sound like a internet bully, but mister Andy V. is full of shit unless that car was sitting on a salvage title, or the car which at 1k miles had manufacturers defects which i would almost assume to be impossible, was making the owner or dealer not want to deal with the trouble, regardless, a 2016 5.0 with 1k miles isnt gonna go for 7.5k if someone let it go for that without ANY problems and a clean title, they're out of their mind and should be treated at a mental facility
13-14 is the perfect mustang I'll agree since I own one, but I do disagree with you on the mt82, it's a garbage trans, they were breaking when they were new (check the forums) and they still haven't fixed them till this day with the 18s.
+Jacob R. Doty this exactly. the clutch is what is garbage it locks you out at high rpm...throw in a twin disc and a good shifter setup and you're golden even with a stock trans
I dont think thats true, the mt82 is good. Ill tell you what i found out...and mine is 100% better. First, the shifter mount is a piece of crap that looks like a paper clip with a rubber band inside of it. This causes the shifter itself to move around slightly when shifting hard, which causes missed shifts. Change that out to a Barton aluminum mount, and the shifter is suddenly magic. This is a $100 part. Second, its a spring loaded shifter, so a lot of people (like i did at first), make the mistake of trying to force it into gear and miss, then think they are "locked out". You need to nudge the shifter toward the gear and let it fall into place, dont force it. Makes a huge difference. I think a lot of the "mt-82 issues" are actually just people not knowing how to deal with this particular shifter, honestly.
O O a lot people on the forums have problems with sychros they're know for going bad, yes a bad driver could cause this but a transmission shouldn't be that weak and unforgiving, I claim this statement cause I know countless of 5.0 owners that are great drivers and yet they still have sychros going out. Iv been driving manual for over 6 years and my mt82 took a shit on me, just putting it out there.
Jacob R. Doty we don't ever see Camaro transmissions or challenger transmissions having problems cause the transmission gm uses are very forgiving unlike the mt82, I talked to the owner of Texas drive train performance (very known in Texas for his work) and he even claimed these transmissions are very weak and all the components in them are junk.
I have a '14 track pack. Good car, but I lowered it and now have gear whine. I had Ford dealer replace the gears under warranty but the whine is still there. Hopefully, the performance shop that lowered my car can get it right.
Jacob R. Doty I got the whiteline lowering springs that lower car 1.33 inches in front and 1.77 inches in the rear. So I didn't think I was that low. I also changed out the upper and lower control arms (brackets too), koni srt struts, maximum motorsports caster camber, plates, and whiteline adjustable panhard bar with bracket. So it handles pretty good. But the gear whine is from 60-85 mph that is annoying since 70-80 Is cruising speed.
I have the s550 and would have to agree, tho I prefer the rear of the s550. I love the the fronts of the 197. IMO, your exact front end is the best ever produced, with fog lights in the grill area. Looks insanely aggressive.
Love your videos, your car, great tips! My opinion but, I actually feel like a live axle and a V8 is what makes a car a Muscle car, (a truck with a car frame) nothing else no silly 2+2 GT stuff and for me this car is the last of them, every other car that has IRS is not a muscle car to me not even the challenger (it's a boat). Planning on keeping my 13 for as long as possible too! The new ones are just wanna be European sports cars, figures they had to add an IRS when they first sold the Mustang globally because those people don't know what a muscle car is. I love not having to worry about rear wheel alignments, having stronger axles to launch with, love the harshness and ride of it, and the Three link in s197 is perfect, I'll be honest the four link in the SN95s are horrible to live with haha.
james salcido I honestly have not been in any s550 xD but still it is more sports carish than muscle carish to me hahaha. Muscle car to me is like big power straight line type of car, I'm not saying IRS cars or sport cars can't have big power :) I do want to see what an s550 is like lol
I put whiteline control arms and upper link with eibach springs in mine and its such a great handler now. All the live axle instability is totally gone. I tracked it right after I did the work (road course), and it was night and day in terms of stability and grip. Highly recommended and less than $1000 upgrade. I held off an M3 and C5 z06 for the entire session. Then i got some humility when an instructor flew by me in an s2000 :)
I bought a 2014, 5.0, 6 speed mustang at age 16, I just turned 17 and working my ass off to pay it off. People call me dumb, and say I can’t pay it off, but I don’t let those types of people bring me down, I just say to my self at the end of the day I’m driving a 5.0 and it feels good.
Jacob R. Doty it is said the S197 have a edge on speed slightly. I had a 2011 5.0 but I had a Roush kit on it so it was killer. My S550 I just got and it is still N/A so tough to compare at the moment
100% agree don’t race on the streets. In reality, this was a pull to 80 merging onto freeway speeds (which is typically 75 in the fast lane) and this guy decided to pass at 65. Just poor timing
It's gonna be a long time before prices skyrocket on a 13-14 gt. I would go for the 13- 14 gt500 if your looking for a car that will increase in value. Not to mention you'll have 662hp.👌
Where did you get that front grill that allowed you to keep your fog lights and give you an open view of your radiator? Or did you just cut the stock one lol
Russell Maguire i just had a roush axleback and sve offroad X pipe and let me tell you it sounds so damn good and breaks necks everywhere i go iny 2014 gt. Not raspy at all just deep and intimidating sounding with the resonators still on
Besides everything you said! The main reason to me at least is that 2011-2014 Mustang GT is the last real muscle car by ford. The 15+ lost that muscle look and feel even ford agrees on that by calling the s550 is more of a sports car. I’ll keep my 14 track pack till my teeth fall off lol.
I personally completely agree, this mustang will be a classic one day and I have wanted a 2014 Mustang GT since high school. Since I’m an adult with a good job now I think I may finally do it!
Got one in 2013 and love it she's deep Impact blue kooks headers and x-pipe 40 outlaw mufflers,, Brenspeed Race Tune Chrome Foose Legends. I don't have any problems with my M82 in fact I love it. I totally agree with all you said even if this video was made 3 years ago. Love my 305 Nittos I have on the back thanks for sharing ill never sell mine either.
This guy makes really really good points especially mentioning people love to try and push these cars at the track and then are pissed when it breaks. if you want a race car then make sure it’s fully equipped with race car modifications! Haha.
If you guys had *$5,000* to spend on a car parts shopping spree, what would you buy? Say what car you have too!
Jacob R. Doty 180sx-clutch, type x seats, Garrett 2860rs, Blitz intercooler, fuel pump, fpr, injectors, standalone, tune
Ouuu yeess. Super JDM
Jacob R. Doty yo I own a 2014 track pack and I agree with you about them being the best mustang!
Absolutely!
2013 dib mustang gt/cs, id put that 5k towards a kenne bell 2.8L mammoth supercharger! then save for the blown motor that comes after :)
That mustang model has the best tail lights ouf of any mustang
YUP S197
Im not a big fan of the back lights to much but the front hell yeah and throw some borla ataks etc. 😇
Poki Boi the front lights are nice but the new model has better taillights in my opinion
@@alfredoarizmendi1648 Thats my only pet peeve, the 2015-2020 tailights are so badass and IMO beautiful but I can't stand the headlights. Looks too european for a American muscle car. 2010-2014 body ftw
And I felt the rear on the 13-14 Mustang were the worst part of the car. S550s look so much better.
2014 GT dream car
You’re gonna get it man!

Its crazy i posted this comment 5 years ago.
I owned a 2017 v6 guard metallic from 2019-2022 and then bought an s550 5.0 in 2022 and still have it. I guess dreams do come true 😃
Your comment made me realize im having a good life
Thanks brodie
This (2013-14) is the Mustang model Ford should've kept for its lifetime as the base design for the Mustang. Like the Porsche 911 Carrera or the Harley Davidson motorcycle its shape is universally recognizable the world over. Ford could've just kept refining the the 2014 Mustang with its famous iconic shape.
Rudy F which they did
COD and Vlogs new ones like a fusion
Boy, well-said! I've driven one of the newer Mustang GTs, and while it is an amazing car, performance-wise, it didn't feel like a Mustang to me. Felt more like a European car. I'd have been happy if Ford had simply upgraded the existing 2013-2014 look and maybe added IRS. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Positively hate the front end on the new Mustangs - looks terrible.
The 2018’s are blowing up left and right! Mustangs are junk!
That’s the whole reason why I bought a 2014. It’s my favorite body style and holds onto that retro look so well. They did amazing with this design!
The 03/04 terminator cobra is going to be a classic much sooner
human being i love the terminator cobra nothing like a good old fashioned v8
'11-'14 has to be some of the best years for the Stang
Agreed!
Not just that bro but definitely those were some of the best years for people to own muscle cars because you got these badass mustangs, you got those nice camaros, and then you got those chargers that definitely upgraded their tail lights 💯
Totally agree. 2013 / 14 Mustangs are the best yet.
Venomous Garage I like em but the unique thing about the s550s are those and the new edges are the only 1s with rectangle lights
Especially the Boss Model with Sidepipes :)
I love my ‘13. Nearing 100k miles especially because I plan on keep her till she dies. No point in not driving it.
Maintenance advice? Just got one recently w/ 10k miles and have already put 1,500 miles on it
@@timetofl0at340 not much just always do your oil change on time, I do every 5k miles or 6 months whatever comes first.
My issues have been:
- weak starter motor
- AC system (I’m 200lbs in California I have my AC on max literally 10 months out of the year so I wasn’t upset)
- I have this weird crackle/tick when I rev my car in neutral to about 2500 RPM.
If you could flip your sunvisor while your driving that would be great
Yea nice view of steering wheel.
I have to agree, Jacob. They were instant classics when they started rolling off the line in the Summer of 2012. I love all the S197s, but the '13-'14s are without a doubt the best.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Bought my 13 5.0 bck n 2012 it's 2019 and I still hve people gawking at the lite or as I'm passing by
For model years 13-14 not all Brembo brake cars are considered "Track Pack" cars.
Yep correct! I have a track pack too 😏 the 3.73s make a big difference 🙌🏼
Yessir
I definitely like the headlights and taillights better on the 2013 and 14. I ended up getting a 2012 lava red Track Pack that I thought was black, after doing research I ended up finding out I got a rare car. The only made 519 coups and I love this color. Either way you look at it the 11-14 is the best-looking Mustang in my opinion.
Ouuu lava red!! I wanted one! I found one once with a glass roof so it was super rare but super priced 😂😂😂
Cool color for sure👍
No track option on 11 ,12 had brem o wheels package..which was part of the 13 14 track pack ..I had a 14 track pack..quad tips weren't standard...i always said it was a poor man's boss 302....
I agree on the 13s-14s being the best looking, the S550 styling is a bit too euro looking for me
That’s a pretty well agreed upon thought there. Totally new design
Shane Krsak the rear looks stupid
GameWalkthroughs are you referring to the 13-14, or the 15+?
@@shanekrsak6311 s550 is 15+
I bought my 14 new, base model GT with MT82.
Yeah I bought a ‘14 back in January and I’m probably gonna keep it until I’m old. It’s going to be a classic like you were saying for sure
That's what I'm thinking. Nice username btw. Have a 3M sticker on my daily, need to get one for the 5.0
Jacob R. Doty nice man! Yeah I put one on my license plate. I didn’t wanna put it on the paint or back windshield 🤷🏽♂️
Yep that's where I'll prob put it on the 5.0
I have a 2014 v6 right now will deff getting a 14 5.0 next year if i can find one in my area
FUCK THE POLICE!
I love the 11-14 because there not sold world wide like the 15-previous models and I do think they look better also, but they do have a huge flaw with the traction/stability control unit on them
Another big fact! I think it’s mainly the soft squishy factory bushings that make he SRA characteristics worse
🙌🏼🙌🏼 they just drive differently and have a different experience behind the wheel. Can’t be beat.
On my second 2014 GT Premium as well. Picked up my Ruby Red Metallic 2014 GT Premium Track Pack with the Tech Package as well, basically got every option possible except for the Recaros. @uhoh5oh on instagram! (went to the dealership to buy an s550 and left with it instead)
hey it's just that way it happens some times!
Man I hope you do! Gotta get you back in a 5.0
prices are only going to keep dropping
For a bit...we’ll see though!
Rodrigo Yanez Not if your looking for a manual and anything that is not RED
i see them weekly on facebook .... on forums prices are way off , way up ..... go on fb and you'd be suprised what u can find for how much .... what year and miles you guys looking for ?? and what do u consider a good deal ? ..we can all have different thoughts , wanted to check .... i have a 14 pretty heavily modified so i am always looking at what people sell and as of late i see a TON of car for what i consider to be low ... i mean boosted coyote mid 20s or a hair more depending ... to me thats pretty cheap
I hope so, in a year i could have one. Then after that prices could sore if I'm lucky lol
Rodrigo Yanez my neighbor bought one 2013 gt with 53000 miles for $15,600
The 13-14 mustang is just the perfect mustang in my opinion, it’s damn near perfect in styling so beautiful! I have a 12 coyote and for sure will be doing a 13-14 headlight and taillight conversion.. close enough lol
The 13-14 had the best tail lights imo. Then the 2015-2017,I love the 67-68 shelby gt 500's tail lights too and the lx foxbody tail lights.
At night those rings are pure sex
My favorite modern body style of the Mustang. I don’t think they sold a whole lot of Mustangs those two years either, so if they do become desirable in the future, they would have more value because there’s not quite as many of them. Plus, you know, last years of the solid rear axle.
Yessir!
I agree with many of your points, but with mine being the Cali. Special, other than the taillights, its low production numbers for 2012 and my car being #1 of all CS built, I think I did alright, oh and yes a 6spd!
Oh yeah #1 of all CS is pretty sick man. Congrats!
You gotta give some love for the us 2012 Mustang Gt owners to😞
Best front ends!
I have a '12. I prefer the front on the '12, but the taillights on the '13/'14 is way better.
I got a 2011 mustang. It still look good.
2012 gang bruh!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🕺🕺
Agreed with you on the s197 becoming a collectors. Which is why you should've replaced your decklid with a OEM/stock one instead. Mines peeling on the clearcoat as well but I'd suggest just getting it repainted. For collector and value reasons.
I prefer a ‘11, ‘12 for the front view its more aggressive with a different grill. You can change the tail lights to ‘13 ones.
Yessir. I like the 11-12 front ends with the grill and front lower valence changes
The 13-14 taillights are dumb ass over priced😨

now you cant find a 2014 under 30k without more than 30k miles
2013-2014 Mustang I'd say has the third best rear end.
1. '67-'68 Fastback
2. '15-current
3. '13-'14
I love the rear of the 2013-2014, especially on my dad's Shelby, but the 1967-1968 Fastback has one of the best rears of any car ever made IMO
Ehhh no way 15 goes above the 13-14! Just tail lights alone!
Just bought one today!!! 2014 Premium. From the moment i turned the key i fell in love with the car! cant wait to start doing some mods on it
As a 2018 GT owner I gotta tell you, this S197 design is my favorite. Beautiful looking with all the right classic looks
Nothing classic about it. Its just a ford fusion on steroids... S197 ftw
Austin Dark that’s what he said bb
Watching this in 2020 trying to find a reasonably priced 13-14 5.0 It’s like no one can agree on what their value should be. I can find automatics for a reasonable 16k all day but as soon as I find a manual with more miles even it cost like 20-22k. Working so hard to make my dream happen, but the sate of the world right now has the market messed up.
For real man, I’m in the same boat.
Carter Busby its tough man. Good time to sell, bad time to buy.
I luv it!
SL Investors what are the performance mods???
Before he answers I’m gonna guess, BOSS intake, JLT, Lund tune on e85 🤓
Congrats brotha!!! Get that payoff. That first “owned” drive is gonna be the biggest smile on your face. Drive safe and keep her clean!
Nice! I almost bought 2 different ones but whoever had them before didn’t treat them right, one had frame damage for 20k and the other had 200,000 for 20k
Get a nice one and it'll take of you!
Could see the special editions holding value more, but I do think clean 13-14 5.0s will command more in the future
They won't. Thank Kelly Blue Book and NADA.
Jacob R. Doty I have a '13 GT I love. I don't like the '15 and newer. I'm not really concerned about resale price because I plan on keeping it forever.
There were a billion fox bodies, and those are getting very rare and expensive. Any V8 mustang will always go up, you just have to wait long enough.
frajnai frajnai That's because fox bodies were beaten and abused like no other Mustang.
2014 mustang gt prices are never going to skyrocket....
You never knowwww
Definitely on point here. Especially with value and cosmetically with the fog lights. Was the reason I bought a 2014. Has 10222 miles to this day.
Clean car bro that’s one of my favorite mustang body styles 👌🏻
Thanks brotha!
Rush SRT damn but you don’t like mine... okay
Couple mods would easily bring it up to match the power of the newer models and you won’t seriously bang your wallet for it
13-14 styling is unbeatable
I like the 05-09 body style but not so much the interior, but I love the 10-14 interior, what should I go for?
11+ for the 5.0
MySHAQ18 what should you go for?
Super super rare but do it man! Glass roof!
Glass roofs are a c/s only
No. My mom had a glass roof GT premium and Oscar has a glass roof GT500
Same brotha. People think I have a Shelby at red lights and ask me all about it
I actually traded my 13 for a 17. 17 much better.
Interior, yes.
That’s exactly what I’m thinking. Glad you share the same opinion! Definitely holding onto mine
I loved my S197. It made 847rwhp by the time I sold it. It was fast and fun. But man, it feels like a truck compared to newer platform cars (S550, Alpha, etc), not to mention the refinement and overall quality improvements beyond the S197. They are cheap, fun cars though.
Really? I feel like people sway to either side. Just all down to personal preference. Price aside I like the heft and feel of s197
Yessir! I'm tellin ya
Glad i got my 13 the new cars are breaking like cookies in a tin can.
Dude, i definitely agree with you. The 2013-14 mustang has the best design over all. I have a 2014 MCA edition, full dress. It's not a 5.0 but still great car.
I love the 13-14 design!!
I have a 2012 gt and have owned it for over 6 years now and it performs great. Also your car is absolutely beautiful and I hope you get to enjoy it for a long time.
Thanks brotha!
I love the 2013 2014 how do you Guys feel with the auto transmission
But whatever it is, make it a 5.0 ;)
or a 5.4/5.8 if you can :)
15 and up aren't muscle cars.
man i disagree, i so often hear how badly the last gen mustang ages, i highly doubt that the prices will skyrocket. for a car with solid rear axle? no..
Solid rear axle is a benefit for straight line speed. Also, a watts rear end for 900$ will make the SRA a strong contender on a road course vs an IRS car.
A $500 set of control arms and some springs will do that...
Wow thanks brotha! That really means a lot!
Just like the original muscle car era, it will be years before these skyrocket in value.
I agree with everything with the exception being I think the 07-09 GT/CS with the HID lights are the best looking Mustang ever built. Just wish they put the Coyote in there.
I didn’t think 07-09 came with HID?
Jacob R. Doty yep, I have one.
3v gang i own a 07 gt windviel blue love her do death hope one day i can get to own a 13 boss 302
rodrigo aragon a Boss would be pretty sweet.
I know what you mean, I want an automatic, but one in good condition is basically a unicorn.
Ford has yet to make a stock motor that can compare to that 13 Boss 302 LS... It is still the Mustang of the Decade!!!!
The best era of Mustang imo was the 71 to 73 Mach 1 cars. Specifically with the 4v 351 Cleveland.
The S197 Mustangs in no doubt looks a million times better than the S550 mustangs.
CJ Colvin you’re crazy bro😂😂
CJ Colvin you on one with that comment lol
Both are honestly cool in there own ways
I actually agree with this statement. I’d take a S197 over a S550 any day
Any 11-14 will be a nice car to hang on to.
Exactly! So many parts out there it’s insane
Do you have some pictures on Instagram to see it? I’m thinking to do the same thing
def keeping my 2014 until I run it to the ground! yeah, it's only a 3.7, but I love her.
The only problem is the bi-bar parallel DRL's are just so dim and dull. The tri-bar version on the 15-18 mustangs is worse.
Lol what? Not even
best mustang ever made, I have a 13' 5.0 premium stick, wish it was a track pack but is still a beast with some bolt ons
Hey man it's still a great car. brembo rebuilds are on amazon for about 160 bucks or so each side. Do that, fluid, and stainless line and you're set. Trackpacks and even GT500s only have front brembos.
Jacob R. Doty awesome thanks brother keep the vids coming they are great 👌🏻
Jacob R. Doty do you have a link for those brembos
My 13 has Brembos but I’m not sure if it’s a “track pack” because it doesn’t have the 3.73 gears?
Will do man thanks!
Nice ride! Wish I had a 5.0. But I love my 2014-3.7 V6-Black/Auto. I may change the wheels to full black spider 5 spoke.
I think the 2011-2012 prices will go up before the 13-14 because they were the first coyotes v8s and arguably have a better front end
But had more issues since they were first
13-14 is the perfect mustang I'll agree since I own one, but I do disagree with you on the mt82, it's a garbage trans, they were breaking when they were new (check the forums) and they still haven't fixed them till this day with the 18s.
Debatable. Could be a lot to do with drivers as well. Gotta think about the type of people trying to drive these cars
I have a 605 rwhp Paxton supercharged 14 GT with supporting mods. I have the wick turned down until I build a shortock. Car is a blast to drive.
Jealous! How you liking the Paxton? Reliable?
Had mine since '14....still in love
I have a '14 track pack. Good car, but I lowered it and now have gear whine. I had Ford dealer replace the gears under warranty but the whine is still there. Hopefully, the performance shop that lowered my car can get it right.
Weird...lowering caused gear whine? Is that the only modification to it? How low are you?
Idk as much as I feel like it could be a classic car. I don't think gas cars will be much of a thing in 20-30 years
Sadly I agree
I have the s550 and would have to agree, tho I prefer the rear of the s550. I love the the fronts of the 197. IMO, your exact front end is the best ever produced, with fog lights in the grill area. Looks insanely aggressive.
Thanks brotha. Can’t beat the s550 interior though
Thank you! I appreciate that! yeah a lot of people go to an S550 then right back to a S197 simply because they drive differently.
Kara G come take a ride in my 17 and see if you still think it's not a muscle car just becsuse it has an i.r.s. You'll take back what you said.
james salcido I honestly have not been in any s550 xD but still it is more sports carish than muscle carish to me hahaha.
They are a nice car but sorry the S550 with IRS and way improved interior is a better car all around
Depends what you’re looking for. Just watched a 13 vs a 15 same mods and MT82. 13 got him by a car length from a roll...
Jacob R. Doty it is said the S197 have a edge on speed slightly. I had a 2011 5.0 but I had a Roush kit on it so it was killer. My S550 I just got and it is still
N/A so tough to compare at the moment
I am in the market 13 14 vs 15 16. Who got what and why it is better
13-14 they’re cheap and tons of mods
You are the duuushh, when you bust your car on the streets, and not hurt anyone else.
100% agree don’t race on the streets. In reality, this was a pull to 80 merging onto freeway speeds (which is typically 75 in the fast lane) and this guy decided to pass at 65. Just poor timing
That is ok, I don't now how to spell duuushh. AND you possibly killing a girl too:-(
The most beautiful Mustang ever, and the engine is bullet proof. Great video.
It's gonna be a long time before prices skyrocket on a 13-14 gt. I would go for the 13- 14 gt500 if your looking for a car that will increase in value. Not to mention you'll have 662hp.👌
Oh 100000% agree with you man. But I intend on keeping it for a good while
Where did you get that front grill that allowed you to keep your fog lights and give you an open view of your radiator? Or did you just cut the stock one lol
That’s a cut stock one lol
I have a standard 2014 GT, what exhaust change would u suggest to sound the same as yours. Thanks
Lethal catless H pipe and Corsa Sport axleback
Russell Maguire i just had a roush axleback and sve offroad X pipe and let me tell you it sounds so damn good and breaks necks everywhere i go iny 2014 gt. Not raspy at all just deep and intimidating sounding with the resonators still on
Glad I got one! Stock. Well , cross drill rotors. 😉
I’m with you brotha
I personally completely agree, this mustang will be a classic one day and I have wanted a 2014 Mustang GT since high school. Since I’m an adult with a good job now I think I may finally do it!
Now I want one even more!
Youuu can doittttt!
Bro are you from tn lmao
Trade me your s550, 29k miles 2014
Got one in 2013 and love it she's deep Impact blue kooks headers and x-pipe 40 outlaw mufflers,, Brenspeed Race Tune Chrome Foose Legends. I don't have any problems with my M82 in fact I love it. I totally agree with all you said even if this video was made 3 years ago. Love my 305 Nittos I have on the back thanks for sharing ill never sell mine either.
Skip to 2:30 to save you time , thank me later
thanks
This guy makes really really good points especially mentioning people love to try and push these cars at the track and then are pissed when it breaks. if you want a race car then make sure it’s fully equipped with race car modifications! Haha.
Thank you!
