Dimash is the master of "pause".At the end of "Ikanaide", one reactor thought the song had ended and missed the beautiful, and unexpected ending. I did not realize I had held my breath until he was finished. If you haven't watched "Ikanaide" please do not deny your ears the pleasure of this song....all the way to the end.

For me, his sheer versatility is one of his greatest strengths. To think that within a week he's gone from singing opera with Placido Domingo to singing blues at his own concert is just incredible.

When Dimash performs at the Kremlin, he says he doesn't need ear-ins because the acoustics there are so excellent. (There are other videos that confirm this)
Maestro Igor Krutoy (piano) and Dimash presented the song first on Alla Pugachova's 70th birthday on April 2019. She is a famous singer in Russia. The event took place in the Crocus City Hall in Moscow.
Maestro Krutoy composed this song 28 years ago for Alla Pugacheva. Valerya Gorbacheva wrote the beautiful words. Now Igor and Dimash have refreshed the song and Dimash made it his song, incomparably beautiful. The interpretation is completely different from the original. I melt away every time I hear the song.
* Igor Krutoy, *1954 in Ukraine SSR. He lives and works in Moscow/ Russia. He is singer, a world- famous composer and music titan in Russia (billionaire). His family lives in the US. Krutoy came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash. The maestro and Dimash have been working together from time to time since 2018. They are friends and have a father-son relationship.
Krutoy wrote of what working with Dimash meant to him: “How lucky it is to be doing what you love to do, writing for such a brilliantly feeling singer, evoking deep emotion in the audience and being in demand'.

I do love how he tells a story and doesn’t rush to get to the end, even though we know he is ready for the next note, he doesn’t take away from the note that he is singing, if that makes sense. This technique is very apparent in the live version of The Story Of One Sky, he’s very patient with each section, not letting one take precedence over the other. In 2014 he graduated in Classical Music with Major in Vocal (Bel Canto) from the Music Institute of K. Zhubanov University in Aktobe
2018Dimash graduated with a Major in Contemporary Music Jazz, Pop from the Kazakh National University of Arts in Astana Major in Vocal
June 2020-18 graduated from the same university with a master's degree in composition by defending his master's thesis with a perfect score and receiving a recommendation for admission to doctoral studies in music.
To be honest, he is THE best singer on planet I came across in terms of vocal range, usage of different styles, and, on top of that, a heart-gripping and dramatic interpretation. I haven't seen another singer yet who combines ALL of these aspects!

The unspoken bond between Dimash and Igor Kutoy is just wonderful. I rarely hear comments about the set design or lighting but, as usual, they are outstanding. As is Dimash’s stage presence and, in the audience but not shown, the adulation of his female fans. All of these things I’ve mentioned add depth, character and intensity to the performance.
Dimash is totally absorbed in the song to a degree that might be actually frightening if his voice wasn’t so angelic. I’m thinking of the complete absorption by Laura Fabian in “Je Suis Malade” and Janis Joplin in “Piece of My Heart”. Both of the women also live and all three with completely different emotions and vibes. All pierce your heart. ❤

The only thing about Dimash is his English is conversational now, so trying to interview him about technical points might be hard for him. Just don't ask what is his highest note or lowest note is because he'll just say, it changes on the day. But an interview would be awesome. Wonderful analysis/reaction Peter. Always love your videos. Another Dimash song maybe his new/first Spanish song El Amor En Ti (The Love in You). (the performance video was released in early 2023). Or something in his own Kazakh language, have you done Unforgettable Day? If you haven't, definitely recommend the performance at Gakku. You haven't done any of his Chinese songs have you, try War and Peace, it's his own composition. All 3 songs I recommended is his own composition. Have a great New Year!

Peter, thank you so much for all of your “reaction” videos but especially Dimash, whom, I agree, is one of the greatest voices on the planet. I particularly appreciate your. Wonderfully detailed analysis of artists, voices, and how they are able to do what they do. I’ve been playing the piano since I was five, singing since then as well (though I’ve been singing at churches for at least the last 50 years, also as a member of two doo wop groups, as well as performing in several neighborhood theater , I am by no stretch of the imagination, a professional in any way) and I’ve learned a few things yo help me to sing better along the way due to in-depth analyses like yours. Thank you, Peter, for not just being a fan of Dimash, who gushes over everything he does, but as someone who truly knows music and voice and so truly does appreciate the talent and very hard work that Dimash has put into his music. What?? There's even a slight possibility that you could interview Dimash on your channel?? You've probably guessed how rare that would be...there would be heads exploding all over the planet! He's only given one youtube interview, years ago to Kevan Kenney, host of MTV 's TRL. When Kevan asked him what artists he listened to, and one of Dimash's answers was Pavarotti, Kevan said "I've never heard of him". He wasn't joking, and Dimash was so polite about it. If *you* could talk to him about singing, at least he wouldn't be left with the impression that all Americans are rubes. I would crawl across broken glass to hear that!
@PeterBarber it is so, so good to hear a professional singer (you!) truly appreciate just how good Dimash is. How technically perfect & polished he is, and know how damn hard he’s worked to be this perfect. So beautiful to listen to and as you said, he is not singing something easy, he is just a master of vocal gymnastics, not to be showing off, just showing the song, the music off, to be heard at its best. Please keep trying to interview Dimash, that would just be awesome! No, beyond awesome, it would be an extraordinary interview. Fingers, and toes, crossed for that to happen. Another really great exhibition of Dimash is a duet Wei Wei with Dimash Join Hands, Golden Panda Awards in Fall of 2023. Dimash is spectacular in this! Maybe best performance ever!

Dimash have a mix of classical/opera and contemporary way of singing. He can reach six octaves and has absolute control over his voice, breath and also how to handle the microphone. The way he changes vocal registers is insane, i always feel hipnotized when listening to him.
