This performance took place in 2018, when he was invited back as a guest for the finale episode of the show "The Singer", in which he took part as a competitor back in 2017. This song choice and the Chinese and Kazakh inserts were a salute to the fans he had acquired after he competed in 2017. ( "Wǒ ài nǐ" (Chinese) and "Men seni süyemin" (Kazakh) at the end. Last whisper was "Fēicháng gǎnxiè" (Chinese) = Thank you so much). His Chinese fanbase is very close to his heart, as they were very sweet, supportive and enthusiastic, and helped making his name known internationally. The blue microphone that you can see in "Stranger" (Shine Brothers) is a gift from the fans, engraved with his name, and he always uses it when he goes back to China for a performance. Throughout the years, his Chinese Dears put his face on an ad in Times Square more than once, put his name on a star in the Andromeda Galaxy (with the help of Name A Star Live project), and they followed him around the world to attend his concerts, wearing the famous LED signs with "Dimash" and "Dear", which, again, they came up with :)) And they made his first album "iD" become triple platinum in China in the first hour :)
Thank you for being on youtube, I love your videos, and love your style of analysis 👍

Nostalgia is a very important thing in a person's life and many people choose the original version because of that, so maybe no one should even cover it. But I'm interested in something else. If you cover the original, should you perform it the same as the original (to me it looks like an imitation) or should you adapt it to yourself and your capabilities and your understanding of the song? I love your comments and watch them exclusively when it comes to Dimash (sorry) Happy New Year to you and your family😻

    • @SirHairless
      @SirHairless  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

It's a very good question@@djiljanakanacki8684 to which there is no right answer!
I can see plenty of good reasons for both sides of the argument - is the amount you change up the original in your cover directly correlated to a lack of respect for the original?
I don't think so; I think covering a song is a huge display of respect and admiration in itself and, of course, recognition. Whether or not the original artists themselves see it that way is a different matter

Another excellent reaction and analysis. Dimash's rendition of Lionel Richie’s "Hello" was a guest performance on "I am a Singer 2018"; he was not competing that year. At the end of the second verse, Dimash sang "I love you" in Mandarin ("Wo ai ni") to the Chinese audience, and again in the third verse, adding "I love you" in Kazakh, before whispering "Thank you" in Mandarin at the end.
Dimash beautifully incorporates Middle Eastern (Armenian, Turkish, Arabic, Azerbaijanian, Kazakh) runs in the song. His friend, Erlan Bekchurin, did the musical arrangement for this performance, as well as most of his other arrangements. The flute is called a sybyzgy, a traditional Kazakh flute, and precursor to the modern flutes. This is my favorite rendition of the song; even better than the original in my humble opinion.

The flute called Sybyzgy - made of reeds or wood 50-70 cm with 3-5 holes, is particularly common in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The instrument was popular with shepherds, although difficult to play, and was also used by storytellers, in this case perfect for Dimash who is a master of storytelling …. ❤️🔝🎤🌹🌹👏👏👏👏👏

THANKS for your reactions to Dimash!!!!……This performance is the Singer Chinese program in 2018 where Dimash was invited. Using folk arrangements like “Sybyzgi”, beautiful Kazakh wind instrument; Dimash skillfully mixes Eastern and Western styles, a bit of Kazakh folklore in between, creating a unique and mind-blowing ending. The last sentence of the song Dimash says "Wö-ai-ni" is “I love you” in Mandarin, out of respect for China. the phrase that speaks at the end are “Thanks” and “I love you”. At the end crazy high notes A5/D5 for 17 sec. ….saludos desde México…..🥰😍🔥❤️👏🏻🇲🇽🇰🇿

Hello Sir, thank you for your reaction to Dimash! ❤ This is what Dimash does with a frankly boring & easy (and to me quite cheesy) song. I feel the longing. Introspective, almost mourning for being unseen. Whether it is for someone who doesn't see him, or someone he can't see anymore. Elements of mysticism, understatement, coupled with Dimash's awesome vocals, create unique emotions. My instinctive response was that he is inside his own head - he is not really talking to anyone but himself. At the Arabic melismas he speaks to more than one person from somewhere else, maybe a call from afar.
Dimash’s arrangement of Hello connects different cultures seamlessly. It’s stunning powerful, simple in its expression of complexity. So beautiful. Adding the Sybyzgy flute is brilliant. Dimash has worked on this arrangement of the song together with Erlan Bekchurin, so it’s totally his vision of this legendary hit.
How does Dimash integrate all these different ethnic elements into his performances, not just okay, but amazingly, astoundingly well? Not just his own ethnic background, but quite several other ones too? I mean, you realize how well he mastered and went above and beyond those runs. Maybe we can explain it from the fact that Kazakhs are branches of the Turkic main trunk, which are close to the Arab culture, and so Dimash might have heard this type of runs as he was growing up.
We so adore watching the uninitiated indulge in the pleasure of a new Dimash performance, and this one is a transformation of the original as to no longer remember, or care much, how the original sounded. This is the new standard! Dimash’s interpretation of Hello is a melting pot of different culture’s music elements - it is so unique and electrifying and made it a signature style of his own.
It is most important to remember: Dimash always looks for complexity and always tries to connect different things together. Here, as almost always, he combines between East and West, Classical singing and contemporary singing and ethnic singing. He combines cultures from all over the world, different Genres, different Languages, different Genders (by singing his super highs and low) and so on. Dimash’s ultimate wish is to connect between people, and he does it through music.

Hi Hairless! I have seen and listened to several reactions of yours to different songs.... now what I like the most is to SEE your reactions on your face. Your mimik is just playing all the akkords one by one how music plays, all the tiny moves of your face coupled on the rithme of the music you lisen to. Sorry for this reaction but it is funny and nice! Now I listen less to the comments and watching more to you face. I am a manual therapist working away all the facial asymmetrys amd scull torsions. I fell in love with this arrangement immediately and I appreciate how musically Dimash modifies and adjusts songs to reflect his personality and infuses some of the Kazakh influences. In this cover, he uses “I love you” in English, Mandarin (maybe one of the other dears can confirm Mandarin and not Cantonese?) and the final in Kazakh. Always appreciate your analyses and reactions! Cheers from Canada!

Thank you so much Sir H on to your three questions
1 the English "I Love You" with the Chinese Wo-Ai-Ni, meaning the same thing.
2 Sybyzgy flute [made of wood 50 cm with 3-7 holes] youre right it gives a touch of mystique to the song Dimash uses this intstument much more often
3 At the end he thanked the audience with the words thank you very much in manderin Fêcháng gãngxie
He sang “I love you” in stanza 1, “wo ai ni” (Chinese Mandarin) in stanzas 2 and 3, and then added “men seni suyemen” (Kazakh) followed by “fei chang gan xie” (Chinese) , which means thanks, kind regards from the Netherlands I really like your explanation of piano fragments and facial expressions, but because I'm a Dimash fan I usually only watch these

❗His family is as famous for their DECADES of quiet, unpublicized acts of charity as they are for their music talent. A stranger across the street recently recognized his father driving a large commercial van. He started filming as Kanat turned into the parking lot of a home for the elderly and pulled up to the rear door. All the doors opened and the whole family, including Dimash, piled put and unloaded and carried in, back and forth the entire contents of the cargo van, packed to the roof with boxes and bags of groceries and left. The public loves to film them in the act and post it, they do it so quietly and it's almost impossible to "catch" them. Teachers and caregivers hiding behind curtains whispering as they're filming, hilarious ! They are beloved.

If you are still some of the least requested songs, react to "Unforgettable Day" from his performance on The Singer 2017. Most people will probably request the Gakku performance because of his D8 note reaches. I prefer his Singer version mostly because he puts more passion into it, and the background singers and the orchestra elevate it to another level. I do hope "Ikanaide" is on the list sometime soon. Thank you for your comments. I love learning more about music than just how it sounds to my ears.

    • @JayCamp4

I have to disagree with you--I think his most passionate performance of Unforgettable Day that is readily available on video is the performance from the Digital Concert, and would probably be the version @SirHairless would appreciate the most. He sang it in the same tessitura throughout the performance at Singer, which he has never done since. I agree though, that the Gakku performance gets more attention than it should over the other performances due to the D8, which Dimash said was accidental! There were other previous performnace where he his the G7 instead.

There is something earnestly sensual about the Dimash version, The Lional Richie version has so much confidence in his voice. Whereas Dimash seems to truly be opening his heart without making you feel he knows your answer. Which makes you want to open your heart to him and not feel in any way this could be a line.

The Kazakh flute is called a Sybyzgy and Dimash uses it in some of his Kazakh Folk songs. There is an amazing performance from Dimash’s home studio that was live streamed (because if COVID) to The Tokyo Jazz Festival in 2020 called Samaltau, th-cam.com/video/UvMRkiYu3Js/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LNLMxlS50qyfPhcp which uses this Sybyzgy flute and the Kobyz. It is an amazing musical instrument feast with these two instruments, together with a rain stick. I think you will love it! The song Samaltau is an old Kazakh folk song about a Kazakh man leaving the Samal mountain (his home) after being called up to go to war in 1916. It tells the story of him walking to the destination of the war in Omsk. It’s an absolutely incredible performance, as are all of Dimash’s Kazakh folk songs!

Dimash sang I love you in three different Languages. Of course, English the first time, Chinese the second time, and lastly in Kazakh, his native tongue.

Thank you for explaining the harmonic situation at 5:16. I've heard some reactors claim that Dimash sings out of tune there, which surprised them. But it is obvious that their knowledge of harmonics and its purposeful variations is lacking.
