I owned a Zip back in the 70’s. My father bought it new in ‘64. I cut with it about ten years but finally traded it off when my local dealer could not keep it running. I wish I had your information back then. I still might have it. It was from the day when they used Coke bottles to measure two cycle oil. Just fill up the bottle with 30W oil and pour it in a gallon of gas. I traded it in on a Poulan 3400 with a 18”bow blade, which I used for over twenty years to cut firewood. It was also much lighter than that boat anchor Zip. It’s one quality was it cut faster than an axe. Not by a lot but it was still faster.

I just picked up my first saw with a Tillotson HL... a Homelite C-5. Waiting on the carb kit now. I love how easy this saw is to work on compared to even my SXLAO. I want another C-series already!

Working on a Homelite 5-20L with one of these carbs. Got it for a song. It has spark and 170 psi of compression. Can’t wait to hear it scream!

*I have three Tillotson carbs for the Stihl 08 Super and Stihl 090 chainsaws that I have rebuilt and couldn't get to hold any pressure until watching this vid. I had no idea the needle seat was so easy to remove on these carbs. I tried fixing one of the 3 carbs I have after watching this vid, took the needle seat out and sat the needle inside of the seat and tried sucking air through the threaded end of the seat. I couldn't suck and any air through which verified that the rubber seal in the seat was in fact good. So what I had to end up doing since the carb kits that I bought didn't include the needle seats was wrap the threads on the seat very tightly with teflon tape. Then I re-installed the seat and rest of the carb, hooked up and pressure tester and wala! The carb is now holding the same psi with no leaks. I left the pressure tester hooked up to the carb while I ate dinner and took a shower and 2 hours later this carb still held the same psi so I'm going to put this carb on my Stihl 090 saw, start the saw tomorrow and see how it runs. Thanks for your informative vid.*

Excellent video of Tilly HL rebuild. I have a few of the Wiz and Zip saws on the shelf but those style saws don't give me a thrill. Thanks Leon

Just got a Zombie Zip running today. Will not idle. I think the rubber seat in the needle valve is dried and leaking. I ordered one of those chinese kits. Like the video. Havent ever worked on a Zip carb before.

For my third hand I use a smalll machinest vise to hold the body, that way I have 2 hands to do the work.
