    Good evening Zach, May will be fine with a bit of a rest,don't go fretting she'll be ok.As for June l was smiling from start to finish....she is amazing truly she is.Tell me Zach do you get harsh winters with lots of snow! We never see the snow maybe once in ten years,l love to see it myself.Up in Yorkshire where l worked a lot with the horses the winters are brutally cold and so much snow,but living down south it so much warmer, which is great for growing lots of my own vegetables.Thankyou for sharing till next time dear friend ❤

    • @zachodom7486
      @zachodom7486  วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Thank you Ms Joyce! We will usually get snow 2-3 times during the colder winter months. It’s usually not to bad tho. We’re in the “middle” zone really, so winters aren’t too bad. We have a happy balance of both. Thanks for your kind words as always and thanks for always taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate it. Take care and do come again, please!

      Haha, yessir maybe. She’s def special. She’s been a handful at times. But she’s really settled into being a good work mule. She’s friendly in her own way, but she’s not like May is. May is a total pet no doubt. And loves people. June is different. But that’s ok with me. She sure works nice! Thanks for sharing the differences in the collars. Yes I can see why you are going to change them. Makes sense to me. Y'all have a beautiful place. Really like Marcy's flowers around your house. I’m a little bummed about it, but it is what it is. I hope with things headed the way they are now, maybe..just maybe the country can sort of get back on its feet. May is still a baby, really, and still has some growing to do. I'm sure collars will fit her a bit better once she's filled out a bit more. Those weeks off may help with that as well as allowing her shoulder to heal..
    As for June, she really has come along nicely. I'm wondering if she needed the additional routine of breaking in to help settle her down and learn to trust humans a little bit more. Looking at her, she seems to be more physically advanced than May, and was definitely ready for it.
    They'll both get there eventually.

    • @zachodom7486
      @zachodom7486  17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, as she gets older, she will start to bloom out a lot more. And that will help a lot. I still don’t know for 100% sure what happened to her. Because if it was an ill fitted collar, causing a problem… It would have done it the first two or three days I worked her. However, it could be the fact that she just lost some weight and then it started to pinch a little bit simply because there was not enough meat there to provide cushion. But, I’m going to do everything I can to remedy that. I am giving her some supplements now to help her fill out better, and also getting her a different color and pad. That should help a lot! In the meantime… I will just allow her time off to heal. She is not in any kind of pain at all, so that is good. Anyway, thank you for the kind words and thank you for taking time to watch and comment. I do appreciate it. Take care and do come again, please

    I had no problem understanding your audio even with the wind. You have a sharp eye to catch May’s shoulder issue. Have you consider putting her in a driving harness without a collar so she could have a 42:03 single load ? Thank you for sharing.🐴🐴

      Thank you sir for the feedback. I do watch my animals closely. Although I feel I should’ve watched even closer. But sometimes, it just works out this way sadly. But time will heal. Anyway, no I won’t try and work her no other way. I’ll just give her the time she needs to heal and then come back to her. I feel like she’ll fall right back in. She’s really smart. We’ve gotta get back to cutting timber and won’t have a lot of time to mess around much. And ground driving them is ok, but they don’t learn much doing that. So, I’ll just wait till she’s ready to work again, and we will knock the rust off and go to work. June will be really steady by then and will help her even more too. And it may give her time to mature a little more also. Anyway, thank you sir for the suggestion and also taking time to watch and comment. I do appreciate it! That was good information. I had a pair of full face collars I used with my little Mountain Saddle Horses, and they always worked really well. Someone stole those collars, and all I could get to replace them was half sweeneys. Fortunately, they never got sore from them, but I wasn't working them as much then either. At that point, they were pulling carriages more than doing chores. I guess it was just dumb luck, because I'd never heard it explained this well. You can still ground drive May, even if you can't hook her, can't you? I'm wondering if this rig would work for her, so you could keep her learning while she is healing? th-cam.com/video/FMgfAtSGBf4/w-d-xo.html You might not want it for logging, but if she could still pull the cart and keep learning it might be useful. The line of draft is completely different, so it wouldn't put pressure on the same areas. A lot of horses and mules, back in the day, this is the only kind of work they did. If you were poor, you might only have the one horse or mule. Folks would have a little one horse sled to take to a coal bank and get lumps of coal for heat, or into the woods to cut a little firewood. They would use a rastus plow and a single horse or mule to plow out the garden and the tobacco. They would pick corn into that little sled to put it in the corn crib. You did what you had to do.

    • @zachodom7486
      @zachodom7486  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes ma’am, folks back then had to do what they had to do to make it work. People and animals both suffered at times. To some extent I can ground drive her. However, imho that doesn’t do them a whole lot of good. And if they get to walking to fast and whatnot because of no load, then there’s nothing I can do but quit on her. So, that’s why usually I just wait till they’re ready to work again before I do anything. The best thing right now is to just let her have time off and gain more weight. Put some flesh back on and some to spare. Thank you ma’am for your kind words and thanks a whole lot for taking time to watch and comment. I appreciate it! Take care and do come again, please.

      Yessir, it just depends on the animal. You gotta get it just right when you’re really working them, or you can sore em. And cause probs. I can’t say the collar did or didn’t. Idk for sure. I sorta think it is a combo of things. I am thinking if it was the collar alone, it would’ve done it the first few days of working her. I’ve put a little over 30 days on her before it became a problem. So with that, I’m always cautious on this sorta thing..and even then I still get it wrong sometimes. I think the pulling collars will help a lot and be more forgiving in this aspect. Anyway, thanks for taking time to watch and comment my friend as always! And thanks for wishes on church meeting! Well, I could..however if she starts getting to fast there would be nothing I could do about it other than fight her with the lines and that don’t work to good for the way I like mine broke. I break em with weight, not holding their mouth. So I’ve found over the years, just to wait and let them get well enough to actually work. Line driving doesn’t help them a whole lot. They need experience pulling and stopping loads. If that makes sense
