Alongside Dusty Diamond's All-Star Softball and Tecmo Super Bowl, this is my favorite sports game on the NES. This may look like a "cute" game on the surface, but as a person who played baseball his entire life I can tell you that the people who created this game knew a lot about the intricacies of the game. This is such a deep and rewarding game on so many levels and the gameplay, music and graphics are amazing for a NES game. Best player in the game: Tommy the "junk" specialist lefty pitcher on Minnesota.

I love this game,Bad News Baseball,the umpires are rabbits,very unusual,but effective.I love the closeup calls to see whether the runner is out or safe and the camera angles are awesome too.Unless I'm some kind of a fool,I'm sure that is an animated likeness of Mr.T.Did all the baseball games have the 10 run rarity known as the MERCY RULE?Q:Did they ever have girls play this or was it just the boys?
I used to rent Bad News Baseball at the old JB foods in Park Rapids Minnesota but I could never find it for sale at any stores nearby. i should of called or wrote to Nintendo if they could sell me one but I never thought of it at the time.
You were lucky. I'm not sure what JB foods did with it. I like when a homerun is hit in outer space and the kid from the bench is jumping up and down. They sell them on ebay but you never know what you get without trying it out first.

Eric, to get to Girls Mode: Controller 1: Hold DOWN + LEFT (Southwest), Controller 2 Hold UP. While STILL holding these down like that, push RESET. Apparently, if you push the controllers in said direction with your NES OFF, keep holding it those ways, and switch the power ON. You will know you're in Girls Mode, when you get to the choices like Spectator Mode, etc, and it's a HEART instead of a baseball.
there's a nice strike out cheese you can do by aiming for the corners. works every time and whenever they make base just throw the ball away and have the player recover it to get them out. cant fail

@@danalong1237 I was born in Seattle in 1973, and was in 12th grade when I first played it. I could not believe how much the Team Victory Song sounded (especially the ending) like Proud To Be An American! The arcade Double Dragon ending song was also very similar to "God Bless The USA" tune!
I didn't really bother micromanaging because the game was easy enough without doing it, and I didn't want to spend a half hour of the video pouring over everyone's stats constantly like I typically would if I wasn't recording for people to watch. Stats are a rabbit hole for me ;)

Bad News Baseball is a complete blast that never takes itself seriously but it always a ton of fun.
