I spent hours on the Sega Genesis game Sports Talk Baseball as a kid. I remember becoming a fan of Julio Franco after seeing how they animated his unusual batting stance in the game and then seeing him actually swinging like that on a televised game. I even adopted his stance for a season or two in little league baseball, all ultimately because of that game. It worked well for me in Coach Pitch, lol. My dad, who had 0 interest in video games, made an exception for that game because he thought it was hilarious when the announcer said "He dropped the ball, I can't believe it!"

Out of all the sports games I've played, MLB never fails to impress. I've played NHL over the years and all they do is recycle the graphics but add a few new features, but with MLB, it seems as though they manage to step up the graphics every time a new one is released. You forgot two HIGHLY underrated games on the wii called MLB Power Pros and Power Pros 08. American releases of at this point japan only series, not counting these two. They were insanely fun to play and had a unique style that really made it a great kids game that fans of baseball could easily get into.
I was excited to watch this and relive the old games.... til I noticed that almost none of the ones I played are on here. So SSI Computer Baseball is missing. That was a big one.. Then MicroLeage Baseball, and MicroLeage Baseball II. From 1986-1990 we had fantasy leagues where we input the weekly stats and played our teams against each other... we used these 3 games over those 4 years.... loved that. Later on there was Hardball, Hardball 2. From 1989 or so, through college I was big into Tony Larussa Baseball (all of them) and Old Time Baseball was a favorite too.
Like I mentioned I alone have gotten probably 70+ baseball games. Almost all of the Sega Genesis games, many of the Saturn and Dreamcast versions as well, then the Playstation 1, 2, 3, 4, the PSP, the Vita. The Gameboy, the Nintendos. OMG so much money on the same crap....lol. My game collection was 90% sports/racing, and 10% adventure and fighting. 0% RPG. Except for Knights of the Old Republic. I forgot about the Apple IIe games and the Commodore 64. Again WTH!??
For Arcade Sports yeah, but the early 2000s blows it outta the water with Console sports games... NFL Blitz, NHL Hitz, MLB Slugfest, MLB Baseball 2005, NBA Street, NFL Street, NBA Ballers, etc etc
Still love the Intelivision Baseball game. Homerun 1978 Hours and Hours of fun. My Brother and I (I was 6 and my brother was 7 years old) had stats and roles for each player, even though the game didn't have that detail. So after each play, we would be marking down what happened, so after the game we would rework each player's stats. We had baseball cards for each player. If you didn't have that player's card, he couldn't be on the team. Still remember Darryl Strawberry having more stolen bases than any player on his team combined. Darryl Strawberry ... the bane of my existence......
How is Tony La Russa baseball not on here? Spent many nights with my buddy on Tony La Russa Baseball 3 '96 edition getting our butts whooped by the computer.
I played so many games of Baseball Simulation 1000, something about rocketing a guy out at first with the rocket ability or jump and rob homerun ability was so fun.
You missed the best baseball game ever!!! 'Tony Larussa baseball' for sega genesis.. after a close call you could actually argue with the ump and possibly get ejected!!
there needs to be more modern day baseball games. the only ones i know of that aren't discontinued that follow the mlb are the show and out of the park, the show isn't even on steam :(
RBI was really fun, but Baseball Stars was the best. Way before its time. Custom player names and ability to upgrade players on your team. Best of all was ability to play a season with stats being tracked. I believe that was a first. Awesome graphics are nice but if those animations get in the way of the player moving naturally where you want them it is sort of useless. Super intuitive as well to dive, climb wall to rob a HR or make a super hard throw from 3rd to 1st. Only downside was the dreaded blinking red light on start up and losing hours of work to get your team good
MVP 2005 was a masterpiece. Very ahead of its time.
The greatest baseball game of all time. That year we also got NFL 2k5...
Played a full 162 game season and lost in the World Series. Still one of my favorite accomplishments in gaming.

One of my favorites was Hardball. Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball was my first sports game for the super Nintendo
I’ve played most of these. Ken Griffey for SNES was great fun. World Series Baseball for Sega Saturn, too.
Bad News Baseball was such a fun one, played that game for hours
And to think this is only a fraction of the baseball games that have come out. Covering them all would take hours at this pace.
90s were the best era for any sports game.
For Arcade Sports yeah, but the early 2000s blows it outta the water with Console sports games... NFL Blitz, NHL Hitz, MLB Slugfest, MLB Baseball 2005, NBA Street, NFL Street, NBA Ballers, etc etc
Accolades Hardball series was really good. Loved them on PC!
Probably the biggest leap and the most fun baseball game was SNK baseball stars. When that game came out we stayed up for days playing it
That’s pretty Impressive for 1976
All Star Baseball '99 was one of my favorites growing up
Still love the Intelivision Baseball game. Homerun 1978
Hours and Hours of fun.
Microsoft Baseball 2000 looks SO SMOOTH! TF?
He got the drip
It's fun to play baseball video games.
I played so many games of Baseball Simulation 1000, something about rocketing a guy out at first with the rocket ability or jump and rob homerun ability was so fun.
You missed the best baseball game ever!!! 'Tony Larussa baseball' for sega genesis.. after a close call you could actually argue with the ump and possibly get ejected!!
hell yea
there needs to be more modern day baseball games. the only ones i know of that aren't discontinued that follow the mlb are the show and out of the park, the show isn't even on steam :(
Just that little bit of sight and sound from Base Wars brings up all of the nostalgia. Wish someone would remake it for either PS5 or Series X
Mlb power pros 07/08 are the best baseball games of all time
100% agree!
Triple play baseball brought to you by lobster cola!
watching this I feel triple play was when the experience became more immersive
2:19 love the way this was perceived to be in 2020 back in 1991. Imagine how we think 2049 will be like
Bases Loaded was AWESOME with Bay! He was a total juicer.
Paste was imba as hell too.
More people need to learn about and try the Super Mega Baseball games! They're a ton of fun
Only downside was the dreaded blinking red light on start up and losing hours of work to get your team good
Nailed it. Baseball Stars was an amazing addicting game for its time
