"infamous for their unrealistic depictions of women bodies" is a criticism I've always thought was weird, because the same can be applied to men
no 16 years old can ever be built like spidey is, not everyone can be jacked up like steve rodgers, the wolverine, etc
even if you trained your entire life, your body would only look like Batman for a few days with an impossible diets, perfect genetics etc
Chris Hemsworth litteraly said he'd stop playing Thor because the body is too hard to maintain and he's rich and has all the ressources the average man doesn't have
EDIT: I think it might be Hugh Jackman who said it but my point still stands, these guys train for weeks, eat precise amounts and nothing more, and dehydrate themselves to have the proper body for the shootings and then it goes away, it's no better than how women are depicted if you ask me

I don't think is a bad decision to put a grieving man in charge of a project, even more if it's an artistic one like comics, the best art comes from that, yeah this was a miss but in general, I think it's pretty good for someone to let it out through art

Yeah, the best art comes out from strong emotions, I just think it's odd how no one in Marvel noticed the nihilism and intense violence and didn't put two and two together. To be fair to Loeb, he desperately needed an outlet for his pain and if it helped him in any way, then I'm happy for him.

Ultimate Marvel started great but then started to dwell in shock value instead of story value. To me the best story in Ultimate Marvel was the Death of Spiderman. To see a wounded teenage Peter Parker fight when all he wants to do is stop fighting, he bled out. He could have been saved the whole time he could have been saved had he stopped fighting and seek medical help. Instead he fought to be a hero saving countless lives and dying in the arms of his Aunt May Parker. The last line being a bit touching, all the time Peter tourmented himself for not saving his uncle Ben but died happy knowing he saved his aunt. That was the perfect end.. And the start of my son's favorite Spiderman, Miles Morales. I think it was the one time the Ultimate Marvel brought a story instead of shock value, I hated it but loved the story. Read it get the mix emotions or look up the late great Comicstorian he put a lot of emotions into the storytelling of the best ending of an Ultimate.

Exactly, USM was the only thing consistently for the most part enjoyable (for me, anyways)
