Also, Gunvolt 3 doesn't have GV as the main playable character for story reasons. You have the female main character Kirin as playable while with GV you can swap with during gameplay. Gunvolt 3 actually had it's ending slightly changed with an update to give more insight as what's going on. I LOVE the music Lumen sings in the Gunvolt series, to the point I bought the franchise's rhythm game spinoff just to have an easier way to hear the songs she sings without needing to go to TH-cam or intentionally die in the Gunvolt franchise to make Lumen sing for me. That spinoff however, has no story. It's a super basic score-focused rhythm game with DLC song packs to be honest. The game is known as "Gunvolt Records: Cychronicle", but since I love the music from Gunvolt so much, and rhythm games, I occasionally bring it out to play sometimes.
Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode is very similar to Ever Oasis and it has a fan translation. It’s more of a virtual pet rpg rather than an action game though

Dude, I thought Gunvolt was sick back then! Doesn’t hurt that the games were solid as well. I was lucky enough to grab both 1 and 2 before the 3DS stores went down.
@@DeepWeeb I'm glad to see someone else understands the budget issues. When the game came out it became a meme to just say "This cost four million dollars" because most people don't understand how much big studio developers cost to run. Inti Creates isn't huge but they had a staff of 100 developers, who _all_ had to get paid. 4 million over 3 years at a normal 40 hour work week (which is a ridiculous notion, they had to have crunched that game to heck and back) averages out to $6.14 per hour. _Conservatively._ I enjoyed the story and characters even if the level design wasn't the best. But I also got _really_ confused by people saying "It's too much like Mega Man, it doesn't do anything new." Uh, yeah? Isn't that why you backed it? You wanted a Mega Man game?
EVER OASIS MENTION‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ I love that game so so so much, I even still have my old copy and replayed it in its entirety just last year. It genuinely deserves so much more recognition and it makes me sad that it just. Never got that and probably never will considering its sales :[ I still hope that maybe one day we get a remake or sequel or something, but I know it's extremely unlikely. At least us few Ever Oasis fans will remember it as the underrated gem that it is
It's one of the games I grabbed during the FOMO phase of the 3DS's life (When the eShop was about to die). I haven't gotten around to playing it yet, but I remember enjoying the demo and thought it seemed like a pretty nice game.
I have never once forgotten Freakyforms. I didn't know you could get it on cartridge. I have not stopped thinking about it for one singular second. Ordering a cartridge THIS VERY INSTANT
I was never big on gunvolt's combo based gameplay style compared to the ZX series but I have a ridiculous amount of respect for it, it's franchise, and inti creates
Gods I remember having a crush on the MC of Azure Striker Gunvolt as a kid Also I remember absolutely adoring Ever Oasis, I wish there was something after the end of the game but it was an absolute delight from start to end!
I own Ever Oasis. It's a great game. I still haven't finished it yet because despite replacing my 3ds' battery, it still can't stay on for very long. It is my first 3ds which is more than 10 years old by now after all. Though a friend of mine said that they plan to buy another 3ds and after that give me their previous 3ds. Whenever that happens, I'll finally be able to play all my games again. And I'll be sure to get Freakyforms too ^-^
Check your 3ds's battery (unscrew the back and take it out). If its all puffy like a bag of chips, it is dangerous and needs to be disposed of safely by experts. Dont let it get punctured or it might start a chemical fire that cant be put out by water. (This is true of batteries in your phone or computer, not just a 3ds)
@@zandraxofnebulon I know, I'm not stupid -_- That's what the old one was like. But as I said, I literally just replaced it, and the new one is brand new and not swollen.
Hell yeah I love the Azure Striker Gunvolt games! Probably one of my favorite games of all time, I ended up pulling an all-nighter to get through the final stretch of 1 and the entirety of 2 lol
I remember Gun Gal fondly, one of my favorite childhood games. I do remember checking out the devs wiki page, expecting VNs or other rail shooters, but I saw a pixel action platformer and just dismissed it as one of those brutally hard japanese pixel games (made alot of negative experieces with pixel 2D fighters and pixel bullet hells before), so I never even gave it a try. But in your video it seems kinda cool, maybe after all those years I should give it a try after all
Some notes: Barbie Groom and Glam Pups, despite being a pretty awful shovelware baby game, is actually THE rarest 3DS game of all time easily going for $300+ USD LOOSE. The game full in box can potentially cost THOUSANDS. I have no idea why that game out of everything is so expensive. Probably has to do something with the game's NA version only launching in Canada as a Toys R Us exclusive AND as a limited physical release right before Toys R Us went backrupt. I'm a huge fan of Gunvolt, and man you did the Gunvolt series dirty. For one, your gameplay was absolutely awful. And I thought I sucked at the game. 😂Good tip, if you have the default armor equipped as long as you arent using electricity you will automatically null all attacks while depleating your EP guage. By spamming EP refill (down+down) you can remain pratically invincible. This is a good way for beginners like us to automatically dodge the more challenging attacks. Secondly, Gunvolt isnt a 3DS game. In fact, the 3DS version of Gunvolt 1 is actually the WORST version because it uses a botched, outdated translation that goes as far as to contradict canon. The best version of all the games are the Nintendo Switch versions, but the PC versions are alright too. Just make sure when playing Gunvolt 1 on PC you switch the language to "Japanese w/ English Subtitles" when starting the game in order to get the game's real translation and full story. Just selecting "English" gives you the butchered OG translation which removes 90% of the dialogue and randomly censors things like Xonda's gender. Gunvolt has a ton of media assossiated with it with more on the way, because Gunvolt actually has super in-depth lore akin to the Mega Man series it was inspired by. However, as of Gunvolt 3's DLC tons of things both in the past and future of the current timeline are left unexplained. This is because Gunvolt 2 ends on a cliff hanger that is never explained or elaborated on because theres a 50 year timeskip from Gunvolt 2 to Gunvolt 3. Gunvolt 3's true ending and the resulting DLC bonus campeign also ends on a massive cliff hanger. Hopefully there will be more games in the future planned, hopefully involving fleshing out the period between GV2 and GV3 and also making a direct sequel to GV3. Finally, two heads up. While the first Ix game (Gunvolt spinoff) is really good, the second Ix game is kind of mid in spite of it being a huge graphical leap for the series and the first game to get an english dub. And the dub is high quality too, lots of famous anime VAs are included. Ix2 is also infamous for the game's true ending being locked behind hard mode, which lives up to it's name of being ABSURDLY difficult. DO NOT PLAY IX2'S HARD MODE. It is not worth the pain for like 5 minutes of extra story. Just get the standard good ending and be done with it. The final boss on Normal is already hard enough, and even with a "Not So Hard" option fir Hard Mode being added in an update Hard Mode is still insufferable. Ix2 is also hated because of it's insanely overpriced DLC that is practically required to make the game remotely as fun as Ix1 due to DLC-locked bonus abilities that add much needed QoL. Thankfully all of GV3's DLC were completely free (and was freaking awesome) to make up for the shitshow that was Ix2. The second heads up is that as of July 2024, Gunvolt's story in GV2 is inpossible to complete on Linux or SteamDeck due to a bug in the final boss' special move. Basically on only 3DS and PC, and only if a active microphone is plugged in, the final boss of Gunvolt 2 will have a special attack that requires the player to SING JAPANESE KARAOKE to win. This "feature" was disabled on the Switch and PS4 versions due to those systems lacking mics, but there's a bug on Linux and Steam Deck (which uses Linux) where that final attack will crash the game 100% of the time due the encoder for the microphone integration on Linux being bugged. The only way to fix this issue is to go into your Steam Deck's desktop mode, go into command prompt, and completely disable microphone use, but this is easier said and done and requires coding knowlege. If a microphone is not detected the final boss will use an alternate special move instead. This issue has been known since around the Steam Deck's launch and still hasn't been fixed. Just a fair warning.
23:01 I don’t know about it being a full sub-genre but I adore that style of recruiting named characters (not counting gacha hero collectors) And yeah, the gameplays loop is made even better when fed into a town building mechanic as a main feature. Aside from Ever Oasis and Ni No Kuni 2 other games I know of with both recruiting and town building include the Suikoden series, Eiyuden Chronicles: 100 Heroes and to a lesser extent for the town building aspect there is Alliance Alive. For just recruiting there is Radiata Stories, Unicorn Overlord, Chrono Cross, Citizens of Earth plus its sequel, the Tales of the World: Radiant Muthology trilogy and sorta The Last Remnant. Then for just the town building gameplay loop there is Eiyuden Chronicles: Rising and the Dark Cloud series.

The Pullblox series. And the Boxboy series. Harmo Knight. I supposed you heard even just a bit about those. There's also Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove, a fun rhythm game that uses the touch screen and that has a cute aesthetic and cute characters. Dodge Club Pocket, a pretty fun but challenging game where your character, represented by a 2×2 square, must avoid a fireball that moves across the area you're in. There are many types of challenges based on that simple concept. I still haven't completed the very last challenge, and have been stuck on some others for more than a week. And there's that game, I only played its demo a long time ago, it's called Crush 3D, where you progress by changing the camera angle and alterning from 2D to 3D. For example, imagine there's a huge block you can't jump over. Just put the camera on top view, a view from which the block looks like it's on the same level as the ground you're on. Then pass in 2D mode, and now it doesn't only look like it's on the same level as the ground you're on, it actually is, and you can pass. All these games are great and deserve attention. Well as I said, I only played the demo of Crush 3D, but it seems pretty great.

What am I doing wrong ??? I keep trying to talk about 3ds games I find underrated, but my comment's gone two seconds later. There's nothing rude in it. Well I posted it here, just not as a reply to this comment, and now it works, what the heck ?
About Azure Striker Gunvolt, it's made by Inti Creates, also the people behind the Megaman Zero games as well as Megaman ZX and ZX Advent, back when they still worked for Capcom. I respect Inti Creates enough and enjoy their games, that I've purchased nearly every game they have on the Switch Eshop. Their games are so good, and their obscure multiplayer game Dragon Marked for Death, really shows their history of the grim Megaman Zero series games they developed so many years ago. It's dark, people die, and the art style is the same as Megaman Zero, just that DMFD is a fantasy setting with magic and Divine power that game has a take on racial discrimination, while Megaman Zero is Sci-fi with machines and also discrimination of individuals. I'll be buying Inti's next game, "Card-en-Ciel" when it comes out in October. It's their take on Megaman Battle Network, as well as card-based turn-based combat rogue-like games like Slay the Spire. And from what I can tell, it's a crossover game of Inti Creates' past franchises like Azure Striker Gunvolt.
Also for consider checking out Gabriellas Ghostly Groove, Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights, and if you can get your hands on it; Beyond the Labyrinth. All of them are kinda games that people thought were kinda Ehhh at the time but Id love to see your perspective since youre really good at finding the the best parts of games and bringing them to light.
I only ever played the demo of Ever Oasis, but I've always thought it deserved better than what it got. I think launching a couple months after Breath of the Wild really screwed it over.
One day I will play the copies of Gunvolt and Ever Oasis that I own... but that day is not today. Today I mourn because I was informed of Dot Runner 3D's existence far too late to actually buy it, and a world in which I can't run around voring the last remnants of a dying civilization locked in a bitter struggle with another dying civilization as an uncaring outsider only concerned with filling his belly... is a sad, bleak and lesser world.

I see you bating me into a comment by not mentioning Inti-creates doing all the Mega Man Zero and ZX games and Mega Man 9... AND I'M FALLING FOR IT ANYWAY!
Ever Oasis is really good at the beginning, but sadly as I kept going it lost me. There's this system where you can have more party members and switch between them, with each member having their own little environmental skill, like a shovel for digging for example. You only can have so many party members with you at once. The problem is that as you progress, the environment gets littered more and more with environmental barriers or things to collect that require a certain party member's skill. Sometimes, areas require more skills than you can have party members, requiring that you go there twice in a row if you want to see everything. I lost interest in the game when I started feeling like whenever I found somewhere new to explore, I had to leave and come back again with the right people for the job.... multiple times in a row!
Gunvolt was my jam. After the fiasco with Mighty No. 9 I was scared to try it but once I did I was hooked. I've gotten each game Day 1 since GV2. Gunvolt 2 was special. I remember having 20 dollars loaded onto my 3ds, watching the launch stream and immediately buying/downloading/playing it right after that stream, and it was so much fun. I like the games that came after, but ix2 left a sour taste as I could never figure out the gameplay mechanics since I was so used to GV2/iX1 Copen, and Gunvolt 3 while amazing, I love the story, characters, gameplay, etc... I am SO saddddd that Quinn got such a shaft. And we never followed up with that secret scene with Xiao and Nori. I mean holy shit he "hurt" Quinn and then decided to abandon her because of what happened. What do YOU MEAN?! That must have hurt her way more. Sorry. I didn't mean to rant but that really was my biggest gripe with GV3.
I remember being at GameStop one time looking for a new weeb game as a kid and Azure Strike caught my attention. I played about 5 seconds of it before growing bored. Nowadays I probably would've held out longer.

Inti Creates isn't huge but they had a staff of 100 developers, who _all_ had to get paid. 4 million over 3 years at a normal 40 hour work week (which is a ridiculous notion, they had to have crunched that game to heck and back) averages out to $6.14 per hour. _Conservatively._
I enjoyed the story and characters even if the level design wasn't the best. But I also got _really_ confused by people saying "It's too much like Mega Man, it doesn't do anything new." Uh, yeah? Isn't that why you backed it? You wanted a Mega Man game?
EVER OASIS MENTION‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
I love that game so so so much, I even still have my old copy and replayed it in its entirety just last year. It genuinely deserves so much more recognition and it makes me sad that it just. Never got that and probably never will considering its sales :[
I still hope that maybe one day we get a remake or sequel or something, but I know it's extremely unlikely.
15:58 twewy mention! Love that game!
Gods I remember having a crush on the MC of Azure Striker Gunvolt as a kid
Also I remember absolutely adoring Ever Oasis, I wish there was something after the end of the game but it was an absolute delight from start to end!
@@Oceane1803 oh ok glad you know. not trying to condescend, just making sure you were aware
@@zandraxofnebulon Okay thanks.
Did somebody say GUNVOLT?!
I love your videos. The DS and 3DS are my absolute favourite consoles.
I like the mix of seriously good games, absurd games and hidden gems.
Hell yeah I love the Azure Striker Gunvolt games! Probably one of my favorite games of all time, I ended up pulling an all-nighter to get through the final stretch of 1 and the entirety of 2 lol
My best friend had Ever Oasis and i watched her playing and built the city
It reminds me i really need to play this game ^^
GUNVOLT MENTIONED FUCK YEAHHH
I remember Gun Gal fondly, one of my favorite childhood games. I do remember checking out the devs wiki page, expecting VNs or other rail shooters, but I saw a pixel action platformer and just dismissed it as one of those brutally hard japanese pixel games (made alot of negative experieces with pixel 2D fighters and pixel bullet hells before), so I never even gave it a try. But in your video it seems kinda cool, maybe after all those years I should give it a try after all
Some notes:
Barbie Groom and Glam Pups, despite being a pretty awful shovelware baby game, is actually THE rarest 3DS game of all time easily going for $300+ USD LOOSE.
Just a fair warning.
you should do a best of style savvy/Ranking of all games. i LOVVED the OG and wonder what the new ones are like
23:01 I don’t know about it being a full sub-genre but I adore that style of recruiting named characters (not counting gacha hero collectors) And yeah, the gameplays loop is made even better when fed into a town building mechanic as a main feature.
Gunvolt spotted!
so happy you liked gunvolt! can't believe it's a decade old now. also, so glad you see how swaggy he is, he gave me immense gender envy as a middle school egg
@7:17, you missed a prime opportunity to call it the "Gar-Car"
gar car binks
Carfield
Aaaah!!! All the games in the thumbnail are some of my favorite games of all time!! I'm excited to see the different games, and find out new ones to like!!
Idk how gunvolt is forgotten he has 3 games 4 spinoffs
I loved Ever Oasis!! It is a gorgeous and fun to play game and I'm so happy to hear someone talking about it!!
Hey someone talking about Gun Volt again! :)
That subgenre is basically digimon world as well, so it's been around a while x)
Yeah, although sadly, we didn't get World Re:digitize or it's 3ds re-release, Re:Digitize Encode. It would have fit right into a list like this.
@@thekey0123 Both versions did get translation patches, though.
this inspired me to get Freakyforms Deluxe, looks fun
finally, garfield kart
...what exactly did Barbie do to you in highschool >.>
Sounded like the G word came up in that list...
Garfield car? I think you mean... Carfield?
I'm not sure how I feel about Dot Runner's Bolt being designed as a reference to Tron,.what with the cannibal thing and all.
Pls for the love of god play the jp voice script of gunvolt 1 instead it’s so much better
I didn’t mean to be rude btw if I was rude I just really love the gunvolt trilogy even though Kirby is my favourite series my top 3 games of all time are gv1 gv2 and gv3
FreakyForms was such an odd game. I had it when the system launched. Interesting to see another living creature acknowledge its existence
I actually played Ever Oasis some months ago and it was really enjoyable :)
god I loved ever oasis i 100%ed it. the character and design is incredible
i cried during ever oasis' ending, genuinely so good
You NEED to talk about Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+. It's great. It has a Mario F-22.
Brisket, Pit Master, Roaster, Yakiniku.
Dot Runner is making me want BBQ
Groom and Glam Pups is anything but forgotten. It’s one of the most expensive 3DS games. Any collector knows about it.
Gunvolt is a full fledged series now, with crossovers and everything.
Holy shit, I remember seeing the Ever Oasis trailer and LOVING the concept, but not being able to play it because my family never bought me games lmao
I might give it a shot nowadays :3
Gunvolt is so fucking good im not even joking, the controls can be a bit clunky but god damn the story and abilities are so fucking cool
*picking up a bullhorn but not switching it on* ever oasis was a great game that had a lot of charm and its not like, groundbreaking in any ways but its very fun to play in a simple satisfying way. it feels so earnest in its presentation.
O shit I had Ever Oasis!
Really great video! I want to make little monsters too
GUNVOLT!
I should really hang out in ever oasis its always looked so cute
sad it came out after everyone stopped paying attention to 3ds
What’s a 3DS game you think is underrated?
Rhythm Thief imo
Underrated rhythm game
@@multifandomfangirl9664 Oh yeah that one too.

And from what I can tell, it's a crossover game of Inti Creates' past franchises like Azure Striker Gunvolt.
...Ever Oasis is legit my favorite 3DS game.
FREAKYFORMS DELUXE MY BELOVED !!!
Man, everytime I saw ever Oasis in stores i thought about buying it, but always decided against it cause well money. I should have gotten it.
Ever oaisis was amazing great game abd its very cute. The ending made me cry ngl
Kinda surprised I always had a thing for stella glow myself.
Lookin' for someone to match my Freak(form)
omfggggg im surprised to see 2 games ive already played in this one! i stand by freakyforms forever and im convinced every autist i know who also likes tomodachi life would absolutely lose their minds over it if only it was more in their line of vision💔

GUNVOLT MENTION
I see you bating me into a comment by not mentioning Inti-creates doing all the Mega Man Zero and ZX games and Mega Man 9... AND I'M FALLING FOR IT ANYWAY!
You need to play teddy together, it's amazing
All the possible intros and you had to start the video by SPITTING GUNVOLT FACTS⚡️⚡️⚡️
Did you ever talk about Fantasy Life?
Sorry. I didn't mean to rant but that really was my biggest gripe with GV3.
you da goat robin but I’m v sad there was no bakugan reference in this video
we outta bakugan games :(
MORE WEIRD AND OBSCURE GAMES!!! PLEASE!!!

Freaky forms is prob got 3rd or 4th most hours on my 3ds behind animal Crossing, ever oasis and fantasy life 😂😂😂😂
I guess I should give Ever Oasis another try. I remember playing the demo and not really liking it.
Ever Oasis deserves better, a Switch or any console port would be an instant purchase
I remember being at GameStop one time looking for a new weeb game as a kid and Azure Strike caught my attention. I played about 5 seconds of it before growing bored. Nowadays I probably would've held out longer.
I disagree with Azure Striker and Ever Oasis. Every person I know played those two games. They are just too good.
