You two went from suburbia to Urban living, yet, you all are still on top of your savings. That is awesome! Proud of you both.. Keep up the wonderful outlook on your lives. Also, omg transport in NYC is cheap compared to London!! Another hack is cooking extra and freezing it; reduces the need for take out 😊
Awe thank you!! 😊😊 Yes, it's crazy to us when a discount is available and people don't look for it! As for NYC transport, as they say... you get what you pay for LOL! The tube is SO much cleaner than our subway system. We've GOT to start freezing our food. Our freezer hasn't gotten much love in a while but we're beginning to meal prep more healthy so goal #2 is to freeze our next meal!
Slingbox is also something to look into. Basically a device you hook to a cable box and you're able to stream cable anywhere. I have one set up in Boston before I moved to NY. The only thing I pay for is for the spare cable box.
Amazon is my jam!!! Amazon Prime here too! I have to re-install Honey. My hard drive failed and I had to start over with my browsers so thanks for the reminder. Sometimes I think of a "thing" I decide I need/dream about and I go to Amazon on the hunt! I'm darned if I don't find it 99% of the time! Amazon is a thing I will not do without.. I love the "sit-downs" and talking tips so that's a great idea, please!
Take away my truck and I'd have to spend the money on a psychiatrist. I try to justify the parking by stocking up when we're out of town and use the truck bed as storage, but the numbers don't work. It's a guilty pleasure. 1st year here the expense is is just mind blowing. After few years you start to figure it out. After ten years you need to keep exploring or visiting places you have not seen in a while, or you'll just be annoyed all the time at how much it really costs to live here. The fact that real estate here is flat or tanking while places like Colorado are spiking doesn't bode well for those thinking about leaving (retiring).

Georgia doesn't have many corporate jobs in fashion/beauty (i.e. Project Management). If you're natural, curly hair products can be so expensive. Going to my local Sally's or Walgreens usually gets me products for super cheap, because of sales at Walgreens and bulk beauty supply at Sally's

Definitely an idea for a future vid, but in a nutshell we both started working young in retail, which provided a lot of different experiences before a degree. We've also learned a lot for our jobs through watching TH-cam videos :)

Between co workers and alumni organizations / events, we've managed to find a handful of people with things in common. It does seem more challenging than when we lived in Atlanta, but a few really good friends are all we need.
Great tips. I guess I never understood why people that don't have or make a lot of money even bother moving to NYC. The whole point of living in NYC is to enjoy the fabulous things the city has to offer like nice restaurants, theater, bars, etc. if you can't afford to do any of those things why not live in a city that is more affordable than offers a better quality of life? I always went to NYC regularly but lived in a smaller city for the first 10 years of my career because I didn't see the point in living there until I was making a multiple six-figure income.
Thanks John great points! One thing that we've found is that it's an amazing learning experience living here, especially for young people that want to really challenge themselves. It's brought out more hustle than we ever knew we had. It's a challenge, but as they say "if you can make it in NYC, you can make it anywhere!"
