    If anyone's wondering why you need to hold your fan still, motors are basically also generators.
    The air will spin your fan really fast and can generate enough power to fry components on your motherboard.
    I believe most motherboards nowadays have safety measures against that but just to be safe, hold your fans still.

  • @SianaGearz
    @SianaGearz ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You can get pure CO2 or nitrogen dusters. Unfortunately they're more expensive and go flat quickly.
    I havent seen fluorine compounds used here in EU. I think they're mostly butanes and similar. One problem with those is they can make polycarbonate or some plastic blends brittle.

    • @jasongrim2027
      @jasongrim2027 ปีที่แล้ว

      And butane is just ya know just a wee bit flammable.

    • @SianaGearz
      @SianaGearz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jasongrim2027 Yeah but short of an open flame, you won't set it on fire so easily. If you do manage to, like if you have a good arc, you'll have a big scary fireball that will burn up in just a fraction of a second, almost like an explosion minus a pressure wave. I mean i imagine i could light it with a cheap cordless drill, with the little spark that occurs on the brushes, but i think it's going to be a very hit or miss sort of experience, and i'm also not really up for an experiment.
      I've heard someone did kill themselves with hairspray propellant resulting fire (also butane and very similar hydrocarbons) but they filled the air in the room with like 5 cans of hairspray and they had a drawer full of flash cotton right nearby. I don't know, i think you should think of extra precautions when you have flash cotton around.
      My favourite or rather least favourite flammable compound though is acetone. It goes hard. Oh i also had an isopropyl alcohol vapour explosion once, i peed my pants but ultimately otherwise there was no further damage, which was funny. But i am keeping a fire extinguisher at hand since.

    If you have a removable dust filter the most effective way of cleaning them is just holding the thing under the shower. It gets rid of all the dust and is really quick to do. If I want to reattach the filter right away I usually dry it with a towel than run the hair dryer over it on full setting until all the water is gone. This also works on air coolers or radiators, obviously without the fans attached.

    Just to be safe I take components such as fans and filters off and hold them still (like he said in the video) when using a shop vac especially.
    You can buy different heads for the end of the hose to have a different effect. The brush head is one of the best but you have to clean the head when you're done because a build up of dust on the brush head can make it less effective.
    I hope this helps someone.
