Fix Windows Vista update error 80072EFE

I show how to fix Windows Update on Windows Vista when you get the error code 80072EFE when checking for updates. There are some updates you need to install before fixing it. Below I will leave links to to what you will need. Anyways hopefully this helped if you were having this issue. If you have any questions, leave a comment below. One of the updates files I downloaded fixed my Vista 32-bit update problem. The computer I upgraded is used to access an old SCSI flatbed scanner and I haven't been able to get updates to Windows for more than 2-years! I sought technical support from very reputable sources online that had me run SFC /SCANNOW and other diagnostic programs without success. Thank you!

IT WORKS!! although I need a WiFi adapter..
I upgraded to windows vista SP2 and now for some strange reason the HP PAVILION DV6000 Doesn’t want to detect the WiFi adapter anymore. Il try downgrading back to SP1 and see if it solves the issue.

When I tried opening wumt, I got an error saying "Exception EReadError in module wumt_x64.exe at 00000000001233B2. Error reading EditFilter.StyleLookup: Cannot create texture for 'TCanvasD2D'." Also "windows6.0-kb4015380-x64" got an error when I tried to install it saying "This update does not apply to your system" I tried multiple downloads of wumt other than yours and they didn't work ether. I made sure I was using Windows Vista SP2 btw.

Hey I appreciate this post I just found my old vista PC and did a fresh install. I did the steps listed in this video but I'm stuck on installing the window6.0-kb exe's it says that this update does not apply for your system.

It might be what OS bit version you are using. To see it, open your start menu, right click on Computer, click properties, and If it is 32 bit then download the x86 files. If it is 64 bit, then download the x64 files.

Yes it worked; but when I tried it the first time a resived a error 0x80244010 instead. (after a while)
Then I renamned %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore and tried it again, and it went back to error 80072EFE; but after rerun wsus.reg it worked.
