Good question. I've used Android (I know it's technically Linux, but whatever), Windows, Linux (traditional desktop), a bit of BSD's, and I've never used MacOS (at most I've already consumed content about the Apple system). They are all excellent, but they all have many problems. Android is not very flexible (but extremely easy and "portable"), Windows is Spyware (but extremely compatible and consistent), Linux can be excellent, but also very fragmented and a little too complicated sometimes for some situations (BSD too) and MacOS doesn't tend to have many compatible games released every year.
Vista looks great, wish Microsoft would go back to that instead of statmenu bloat ware.

I have great memories on Vista. Still think it is aesthetically the most beautiful UI I ever worked with. And most likely will ever will work with.

One thing I would do is use legacy update to bring it up to a better driver support level. It will work with directx 11 that way

I recently build a Vista pc based on actually supported hardware, (but i was not aware of the newer nvidia driver). my build
GA-x79-ud3 + i7 4960x + 32GB ddr3-2400 and gtx 980-ti (this will be swapped with 1080 now, thanks for the hint)
This build works perfectly since there is official drivers for everything.
Edit: just happend to find 368.81-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql
I did some more digging, and turns out this one installs and detected my 1080 without issues.

I would love to see a comparison between the x32 and x64 versions of any windows on that computer.
I think the reason why TH-cam lagged for you is because TH-cam is now laggy on Windows Vista and below. Now you need Windows 7 or higher if you don't want TH-cam to lag. The same thing happened to me

the instability of supermium is likely caused by extended kernel supermium runs on Windows vista without extended kernel stable
For some reason vista has issues installing on past 4th gen intel all the way to 11th gen, but from 12th gen it doesn't have this specific issue anymore

hello ramtech, i have solution for supermium, i've installed vista extended kernel on my modern pc, and i got the same error as you, but that is becuase of the vista extended kernel, i tried installing a diffrent version and it worked, it was the unofficial vista sp3 iso.
So it meant the reason is extended kernel. Ok I’ll add it to the description
Supermium 64-bit and mypal68 64-bit work fine in my vista ultimate x64 hyper-v virtual machine. My host is a ryzen 7 5700x 32gb 3070ti

I've been using Supermium for a few months now (since 118 maybe?), I've never had any stability issues. I've already tested it on Windows 8.1 (build 9600), Windows 10 1507, Windows 7 (I don't remember the version). I also used to use a Celeron machine running Windows XP, but unfortunately it stopped working some time ago and I haven't been able to test it.
Maybe it happens because of 14900k

@@ruffy45 anything that can run windows 11 or 10 will definitely run 8, since they have the same kernel and driver standard. Some driver much as ethernet chip will be tricky to get it done, but it's perfectly functional on any modern hardware.

So for me a gaming PC is completely without RGB, not a single part and with deactivated RT in the driver, i.e. deactivated ray tracing as well as a 1080P monitor with 60 FPS log and a normal sata SSD, no NVME

That extended kernel version is a few versions out of date (assuming that the extended kernel version displayed alongside the service pack text is correct).
Last version of Firefox ESR for 7 should work with modifying osver.ini to spoof 7RTM.
