SW-Motech Legend Gear soft motorcycle luggage

  • Here at Motolegends, the car park is filled with all kinds of bikes. Sean commutes in daily on his trusty Pan European. Artur, who manages the warehouse, rides a Triumph Tiger. There’s Sara’s ridiculously pretty MV. Chris has his trusty old BMW R100rs and his tarted-up R nineT. And then there’s Graham, our designer cum cameraman cum video editor, with his ultra-shiny and excessively clean Kawasaki. In this review, Chris talks us through the Legend Gear luggage system from SW Motech. As he explains, hard luggage simply doesn’t work on bikes like his very own R nineT or Graham’s Z900RS. Nor, in the Chap in the Cap’s opinion does traditional, strap-on luggage. Webbed straps and bungees have no place on a modern bike, he suggests. The perfect solution, according to our man, is the Legend Gear luggage system from SW Motech. It allows you to attach super-cool looking canvas bags to a fixed frame, giving the best of both worlds. The classic look of traditional soft bags with the security and dependability of hard luggage. But Chris is a practical kind of guy, so here he decides to actually show us how to attach a Legend Gear bracket to a bike; more precisely to Graham’s Z1 hommage. What becomes clear is that Chris is not the Renaissance man he would have us believe him to be. He’s probably been watching too much spannering on Wheeler Dealer, but initially he won’t accept Graham’s assertion that all he needs is a simple Allen key. Ultimately, we learn that Graham was right; we also see just how easy it is to mount a bracket on to a bike. In fact, we incline to the view that if Chris can install a bracket, then almost anybody can. On reflection, delete ‘almost’. This really is a clever system, and the end result is both hugely practical and great looking.

    Very entertaining and funny. Chris demonstrates just how easy (despite his best efforts to sabotage himself) it is to attach the SW-Motech soft luggage. If I had a cool bike like Graham's Z900RS this is the luggage I'd go for!

    These bags are really good, have bought both sizes from MotoLegends and very easy to fit. Rode from UK to Northern Germany in biblical rain and stayed completely dry inside.

    I just received mine, for my Z900Rs, here in Australia. They look the goods.

    I'm a big fan of SW Motech's system. These bags look great, but I went with their SysBag for better waterproof protection and a more structured bag. You can also get a Number plate to cover the rack should you choose not to use it, which looks great. I rock a bag and a plate, plate on the exhaust side, and it looks great. Ironically, its on a Z900RS as well.... also in Jaffa, but with a matching Chic Comet fairing to boot. 👌

    Who's this Alan chap with the key? The Allen Manufacturing Co might object.....nice bags but as an inveterate overpacker i'd need lessons in travelling light!

    You guys spend more time on the skit then the actual product. Would like to see the bag from the inside or even a panaramic view of the bag on the motorcycle...especially with someone on the bike.

    You showed how the bag slides onto the metal rack but how do you remove it and if the bike is left unattended can anyone remove the bag? ie is the bag fitted thief proof?

    Nice bags, but I read somewhere that they fade in the sun. Pity they don't lock on to the frames.

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess everything will fade over time but I have not heard this from anyone on these bags so I don't think it is an issue.

      @@Motolegends Hi there, had this bag for one year now and it completely faded to (dark)grey. Not a big issue for me because i like the faded grey style on my bike. But is does indeed fade rather quick!
