    I have to tell you, I enjoy your videos and information much, much more than "The Spa Guy", I tried 'talking' with him and telling him of a certain event and he called me a liar, I just politely exited his thread and never went back. He thinks he's all that and a bag of chips. I won't say more but yours is best. Thanks for sharing.

    Not sure if there's another icon who's fans really care what they did on a day by day basis more than 40 years after they died! We Elvis fans are a unique bunch!!

    When the media branded Elvis' performance as "Obscene", they didn't know it at the time but that made his ratings skyrocket, all the younger set went crazy over it. lol. On another note, I went to the Burton Theater in Burton, Michigan back in 1956 or 57 when it was released and I'll never forget it. I never seen and heard so many people crying and sobbing towards the end of the show, when Elvis was shot and killed. What a movie.

      Thanks for sharing that memory Bobby. I would have loved to have been around as the songs and films were being released. And yes, music artists down the years that have outraged parents or the general public (whether intentionally or unintentionally) always appeal to the kids 😊. Thanks for watching 👍👍

    My FAVORITE of this time is June Juanico's book. Wow. That book made me LOVE ELVIS more then I knew was possible but it made me sad for them both the entire next day.

    • @OceanHops
      @OceanHops  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kelli. Yes I enjoyed that book as well. June really conveys the sense of an almost perfect time away from the spotlight. But yes, the spotlight it seems was always going to come between them. Thanks for watching 👍👍

    Elvis always said 1956 was his most favorite year. He and June stayed in touch for the rest of his life. She gave him a copy of the Prophet and it stayed by his beside until he died. June always wanted a ranch and wanted to call it "Circle J". In 1967, Elvis bought one and name it "Circle G". She told him in 1956 that Unchained Melody was her favorite song. It was the last song he sang. He released an album for her called "Just for you" in 1957.

    • @OceanHops
      @OceanHops  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Elizabeth-thanks for watching, it is appreciated 👍. Yes, they had a relatively close relationship during 55 and 56. Just want to point out 'Unchained Melody' wasn't the last song he sang and RCA would have chosen the EP title 'Just For You'.

    According 5:54 Elvis was the first rock star to perform in a sports stadium. Therefore, it is not true that the first rock concert in a stadium was by the Beatles in Shea Stadium in 1965. Elvis sang in a stadium 9 years before the Beatles!!!

    • @OceanHops
      @OceanHops  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Rafael👍👍! I think concerts at sports grounds were quite common even in the 50s - in my 1955 vid I go to Ladd Stadium in Mobile where Elvis played. I think the Beatles claim is it was the biggest up to that time. 👍

    Back in the day you would never see elvis on tv cause the colonel wanted 2 much money , and with less exposure ,which is wise

    • @OceanHops
      @OceanHops  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Gary. I think that Parker was at his marketing best around this time. All those TV appearances in 56, so the nation could see him on their TV at home and wanting more, then cutting TV after the 3rd Sullivan show - so fans then either had to spend on concerts or spend at the cinema to see him. Course this completely back fired in the 60s when Parker went too far and the concerts stopped as well. Thanks for watching 👍
