The quality varies because the video is made up of multiple clips. I have tried to edit in the best quality video where possible. I have carefully synced in a new audio track, it is much better than whats on the original video. The hiss and crackle sound has been reduced quite significantly.
    - To my knowledge this performance has never been released on DVD with adequate quality. The complete show is available on the DVD " Rockin' The Nation - The Complete 50's TV Shows" [ 2003] by Pirate Productions.
-This performance of " I Want You I Need You I Love You" is definitely the rarest of all his early television appearances.
    About the show:
NBC-TV "The Milton Berle Show" - Comedy/Variety Show
    8.00 to 9.00pm , June 5th 1956
    filmed at NBC Studios,Burbank CA
    Guests:
Elvis Presley - the new singing sensation
    Debra Paget (actress)
    Arnold Stang (comedian)
    Irish McCalla (actress)
Les Baxter and Orchestra - with his No.1 hit 'The Poor People of Paris'
    Barry Gordon (child star)
    notes:
    - the original broadcast was in colour!!
    - Elvis' first television performance of Hound Dog which he was yet to record until July 2nd 1956 a day after his appearance on the Steve Allen show.
-In my opinion his performance of Hound Dog earlier on in the program was the most important milestone of his career, because it made him a star. The day after this show aired his name started to headline the front pages of newspapers across the nation and even though most of the publicity was negative, the offers kept coming in and he soon at only 21 years of age was a millionaire and the King of Rock n Roll.

It wasn't just that Elvis was incredibly handsome. It was that he was that good looking and had that voice and vocal style. And the wardrobe style. And the moves. And the charisma and character. And through it all he was incredibility modest and humble. Think about it. This kid went from driving a truck to complete international stardom at age 21. He appealed to everyone. Young, old, rich and poor, blacks and whites. He was one them 'one in a million' you hear about. But in his case, one in a trillion.

Berle and Elvis what a combo - two brilliant talents and give Miltie credit - he did not look down at Elvis or rock n roll - he was supportive and encouraging - when The Colonel asked Milton if he could bring Elvis by for an audition Milton said sure - Berle said that when he watched Elvis perform he saw a great new talent - not some gimmick - Elvis was a great singer and a natural entertainer with tons of charisma -- RIP Elvis and Miltie -- they brought so much joy to this world that they truly deserve to be at peace in the after life

I’ve been in love with Elvis since he started his career and I’m 77 years old now. He’s unique in every way. There will never be another Elvis, he’s still the greatest singer ever. Love you Elvis Forever and Eternity. ❤💯

I love that Milton Berle treated him so lovingly. I love at the end when he brushed Elvis's hair back then put his arm around him and pulled him close. So much like a grandfather or something :)

Elvis was kind of shy in this video. His singing and stage presents improved through the years too. I have several 45 rpm records of him. I was 14 when he was an up and coming singer. Loved him then and now. RIP Elvis.

Never seen this before but, as always, Elvis is sensational. He could do anything with his voice, which meant he could be serious and playful - makes him the perfect singer.

Elvis was a great vocal and visual talent. That, along with the original kinetics, gave everyone in the audience something to remember, regardless of whether the person was partial to visual, auditory or kinetic dominance in terms of absorbing and enjoying the surrounding world.
