Great job, thanks for posting the vid and the links. Ive been looking for this info for a while now. Ive got a TDV8 and it eats through batteries because I don't do many long journeys. Split charge won't solve the drain issue, but it will mean ive more charge before problems kick in (tow connected electrics dont help when the engine isn't running either). Like you say, the first sign of a flat / going flat battery is spurious warning lights on the dash, or in my case a lumpy running engine that quickly stalled also. New battery now fitted, all issues now gone. Split charge + solar panel trickle charger are my hopeful best solution to power issues. Even then its only putting off the inevitable one day...again!
In short it doesn't. From the second battery you would run all your 12v accessories that you want to use while the car is not running. The isolator ensures that the starter battery should not drain below 12.3v. in the event that you need to use your accessory battery to start you can bridge back to the starter battery with a lead
How long are the ready made leads of the kit you purchased? I see kits with 1mrt to 10mtrs on the website.. I will be doing this install on a LR3 soon. Thanks

HI, Great video but, what is the main purpose of instaling a second battery? If the main battery goes flat the second doesn't help at all
Better running two batteries in sequence not split charge but would be beneficial to have two identical so they both charge the same rate.
