I've read Joseph Grenny's book but to hear him speak made the experience of his message even more complete. Awesome way to see people and the power of a loving, applied social scientist.

I've listened to a lot of TED talks, this is one of my favorites (heartwarming, intelligent, funny, etc. etc.). Hope this one rises to the top.

I am so glad someone stepped forward to speak this as you did.As a once powerful influencer now crushed by the system I live in, I sought this video for hope.Your comment was JUST what I was thinking as I appreciated the vid yet realized harsh environment(Alaska), lack of family for support, limited medical, forced poverty all trumped my high education, wide skill set, world experience, or personal drive and willpower.America, the next great 3rd world country.

This is a must-watch TED Talk. The Six Sources of Influences Model can be applied to change almost any behavior, from getting yourself to eat more healthy meals and get more exercise, to getting your kids to clean their rooms and study for school. Even organizations can use it to get better results from their employees (and have happier employees). Joseph Grenny is a very engaging speaker.

Read his book "Influencer", it is a solid book with solid social science not just another self help book. Also the book has 5 Authors which means 5 minds in one book, among the authors is this guy (Joseph Grenny).

This guy has it right at nail's head! And just think in the movie "The Marva Collins
Story" made in 1975 the american culture saw just exactly how minds can be
healed no matter the environment, yet only in this year 2015 is the Department of
Education in a country claiming to be a democracy with the word missing from its
constitution is a "study of the effects of meditation and related techniques being
undertaken to "see if the behavior of young people can be modified"! Maybe fifty
years from now our college departments of education that 'teach' teachers how to
teach and boards of education that employ them will also consider the 'study' of
behavior modification and fifty years after that begin to implement such educational
programs of 'education'. I express the time factor in the way I have because this
man is not the first with such ideas. Charles Channing Haddock, Carter G. Woodson,
even Napoleon Hill and many others warned of the inadequacy of the american
'educational system'. In fact, Napoleon Hill's only unpublished manuscript has been
released and is available here on You-Tube (Outwitting the Devil) and anyone with
the stomach to listen carefully to it will see why his wife pleaded with him not to
have it published as long as they were alive! It presents a different Napoleon Hill
one sees in his other publications such as "Think and Grow Rich" and presents
some rather uncomplimentary descriptions of education and organized religions.

I have one question. Since this very technique has been tried hundreds of times and has yet to produce mass, long term change in a community of lives. Yes, it may well work on a micro scale, 1 to a few persons; but it has yet to work on a macro scale such as in a nation. Why should we think it will work now?

    • @joeyjenkins2028

Read the book Influencers and you will see it has worked on a macro scale. He should have highlighted examples in this talk.
